Good work so far, anon! It is interesting how Chizi and Haoran are kindred souls of sorts, in the way they feel out of place in their current world, and how they deal with it by observing everyone around them. The way she protects Ming by drawing the heat toward herself is something that only makes Chizi angrier at their gemini. Ming should be the one handling the consequences of their actions, not their kind older sister whose only crime was having a foolish father.

Chizi would try to stick up for Haoran whenever they can, and invite her for their outings so she can get away from the stuffy atmosphere of the Xun compound and engage in observation together. Similar to Jian, Chizi would also let her in on their more private thoughts, though not because Haoran struggles with inhumanity, but because Chizi was privy to her moment of weakness before, so it's only natural they would want to be accepted too.

Think I've already given you enough recommendations for a few dozen hours of play but oh well. For solo make sure to stay away from Card-Driven games. And again chit pull is your friend, after Reds you could play more Ted Raicer games like The Dark Sands. Ambon Burning Sun might be another good one, with the invasion mechanic you're not controlling enormous unwieldy forces which you struggle to forget which counters have moved, it's self-contained beach heads.
Non-hex games I've recently enjoyed are Operation Bollebank and Habsburg Eclipse, which are dedicated solo only.
I see that you are in a terrible timezone so I'm not going to offer any multiplayer with you but maybe someone else in this thread or in /bgg/ might.

I agree, however i understand more people seem to like flashy magic. How i think of it is people like lovecraftian and hate lovecraft. They like the seeing what the giant monster can do, where people like you and i prefer to leave that part up to the imagination. I think gandalf is cooler when he isnt showing off all he can do, but most people would just rather have wizards that are more like superheros or anime characters. To each their own

We place objective markers before deployment map, yes. We just also place objectives where there's not going to be any instant-victories if the right deployment map is rolled (early on we had too many games end immediately because we place 2 objectives in immediate range of where a DZ ended up being, and only 1 in the other with another 1 in no man's land).

The center point of the objective can't be in the Deployment zone but the 3" area that you score within can. So yes, they are technically in no man's land but not in a meaningful way.

To me it sounds like you're not really playing against shooting lists? if land raiders are "far from guaranteed" from getting killed. I'm losing a Spartan and half or more of the cataphractii inside turn 1 any time I deploy it in view/get 1st turn and move it forward. I've lost a Spartan and Typhon in turn 1 before.

How do you envision him doing that? He was in a worse position. Even their own legions weren't 100% on board with their plans and required culling. A lot of rebellions were just local forces desiring independence or smaller warlords taking the opportunity to forge their own little empires, rather than being loyal to Horus. Him taking out the one thing that held the Imperium together was better. Considering the Emperor is both keeping Terra from becoming a daemon world and protecting humanity from becoming daemon spawns, taking Him out would've been way better for Chaos than a systematic war of conquest on all fronts. Without the Emperor and Terra, the Imperium would fracture and whatever empires rose to take its place would not be as unified.

With the increased amount of LOS blocking there's no way all the opponent's anti-tank get a chance to focus down a land raider. That and Smoke Screen now lasting the whole phase has ensured it's very hard to kill AV 14 vehicles turn one.

Yea I made a container for Gondor, the problem is more that its basically a dedicated container only for Rohan just for it to be put in storage becaue I dont play them. I was a little disappointed that it was mostly just slightly pixelated dark fantasy art. There's an entire chunk of people who just watched their friends play videogames. It struck me as someone who did that. They liked the ideas and pictures but didn't really care about or understand the game itself, so the parts they're making have a nostalgic feel without much connection to use. Its 3 or more steps removed from ttpg play and weirdly hollow as a result, but not in a detectable way to the maker or target audience.

the "Reboot" is of V-series Vanguard. It's more based on the Manga adaption of the series.

Classic is prolly where to start, with the first four or five eps being a good tutorial and all. Just mind the fact some of the facts are a BIT dated, such as the show-exclusive "Oracle Guardian, Hermes" (Which only shows up in a single episode and was never made to print)

Also some say that Classic tends to have the better story compared to it's counterpart in V-series (Which drastically shortens the story).

Also if you want to try your hands out with "Vintage" Vanguard, there is VGDD2, but mind the fact it's kindof expensive...

Partially related, I kinda wish we had more anime-style Alternate Art cards, like that version of Oracle Guardian, Gemini in that pic.

Unfortunately, it doesn't exactly expand on various clans in terms of gameplay. Hells, the only major time Bermuda Triangle and Neo Nectar show up is in a side tournament.

Now for Standard Vanguard (D-series)... OverDress is the start point. (There is at least a free demo of VGDD1 in case you want to try a smidge of standard)

I'm brainstorming some stuff for DCC, thought /tg/ might have some good ideas.

Premise: Dungeon Crawl Classics night at the local pub, we do one-shots every week (characters persist, but it's different DMs doing different stuff across a bunch of settings and plot threads). Games have to be tight, well-paced, and light on the deep RP and bartering with shopkeepers; the best adventures start with "You are at the entrance to the dungeon."

The arc I'm working on is the city of Noctburg; its central-europe-themed gothic/industrial horror. It mostly exports alchemical goods; the Chymic League has enough political power to ignore what scant regulations exist regarding pollution, and working conditions in their refineries are horrible enough that organized labor agitators are popping up.

The theme of Noctburg is predation and exploitation; humans are very much part of the food chain. Half the muggers are human, the other half are some manner of urbanized monster; ettercaps with garottes, cockroaches that walk upright and wear trenchcoats, selkies/kelpies/rusalkas/ect in the river. Heavy emphasis on anglerfish tactics; everything that wants to eat you has a pretty face or sounds like a child in peril.

Even the spooky stuff just wants to eat you/live in you. There's ghosts, but also all manner of non-dead-human psychic parasites and manifestations of ambient misery; Silent Hill stuff happens at lot here.

The alchemical/industrial stuff means that players have access to lots of consumable items; flares, grenades, acid, healing serums that cause addiction, chemical sprayers. I've been considering including blade oils as well. Also, constructs; less steam and clockwork, more wet-cell batteries.

Here's a sample adventure where there's an outbreak of Russet Mold at a refinery; PCs sneak in to steal formulas and product, see what happened to the first official cleanup team, then run into the second cleanup team on the way out; very Half-Life, with environmental storytelling, repeated use of encounter areas, and logistical hazards.

What I'm stumped on right now is Vampires. No one else has done anything vampire-y yet that I've seen, so it'd be novel content for the group. But I want to up the urban predator angle and do Blade vampires; I want that scene from Blade 1 where the PCs are at the in-universe-equivalent of an underground rave, then the blood sprinklers turn on. The problem is how to translate "techno rave" into gothic gaslamp fantasy, and I'm still lacking a proper premise/narrative.

Also, haven't put much thought into representing them mechanically; lean into the more-grounded Blade vampires, or the spookier Nosferatu shapeshifting-shadow-projecting-animal-controlling sort.

I just want people to be humming techno beats to themselves while they kill vampires in a basement.

Might be hard to achieve. Could do very elaborate punch fountains with clockwork mechanisms and statues that have blood coming out of them at various points and the statues are iron maidens with bloodbag sacrifices in them. The tricky part I think, is that gothic vampire stuff doesn't have high pace as any part of it really. The shift from very prim and proper high society party people to total savagery when exposed to bloodlust might work.
To keep the DCC oneshot hijinks you could start everyone at a masquerade ball, explore a bit, statues activate and its a reverse dungeon where the players have to get the fuck out as the revellers are in various states of failing their humanity rolls.
