>>97362699>>97391600I hope you remember these stupid posts when the AI bubble bursts and feel really fucking dumb for making them.
>>97392153To add to this anon's point. I will mention that while governments have unlimited money, they do not have unlimited wealth. There are practical limits to what the money printer can do.
>>97358187Games Workshop BASED?! Are you retarded? That's like saying the Retard is smart for saying one thing correct. Which I am calling it now, we will find out within a year or two that they will be using AI and try to keep it hidden.GW is a woke and taken over. I hope they kill themselves pushing they're gay fem BS the same as TC. I am tired of fags and cuck trying to push for these leftist companies who chose a side and then fuck over their current fans for the idea of the wider audience to get a second chance. Maybe if they purge the DEI hires and vow not to push woke shit anymore as well as a few years make good shit I would give them a chance but at this moment. I hope they die and a new Based game replaces them. Especially before Moorcock dies
>>97392280there is left wing corpo goyim who pretend to be resisting while being paid by jews and the right wing who wants to kill them all. Be more honest next time countersignaling fag.
>>97359667>Makes sense with how litigious they are with their IPExtremely. Disney already suing Midjourney and making a deal with OpenAI so if any other AI can generate Disney princesses they're going to get destroyed in court.
This is a specification for an exterior ballistics software that can be used to calculate damage at long range in tabletop RPGs like Phoenix Command or GURPS where that sort of question arises with some degree of frequency. It takes in physical characteristics of a projectile (diameter, length, mass, etc.) and uses an ODE method to calculate velocity after a period of time has passed. I'd recommend either C++ or pure C for the programme as, particularly if you are generating tables for many types of projectiles, it can get very computationally intensive. For the specification, start with the formula for drag force, $F_d = \frac{1}{2}\rho v^{2}C_{D}A$, so $\frac{\rho v^{2}C_{d}A}{2m} = a$. The issue is $C_D$, which must be determined empirically. We have an advantage in that drag curves all look more or less the same in terms of shape and proportionality (multiply the drag coefficient on a G7 drag curve by about 1.9 and you will likely be pretty close to the drag coefficient at that mach number on a G1 drag curve). Thus, we define our generic drag curve as on the below table. When a bullet is between mach numbers you have the option of linearly interpolating between them, which is less realistic but easier to write code for and will run faster, or using a more complex formula such as Lagrangian or Newtonian Interpolation, which are more accurate but slower. The typical air density (rho) at sea level is 1.225kg/m$^3$. A typical speed of sound at sea level is about 340 m/s.
>>97391904Okay, so it looks like if you do 1-3 penetration you do 1 damage, and anything more than that you do massive damage.1. How many hitpoints does the average person have? Is a 4 penetration hit with 13 damage enough to kill them, or do PCs have more like 100 health?2. How much damage does a punch to the head do? You can definitely kill someone with a single punch to the forehead even though it doesn't penetrate the skull.
>>97391915(1) Every wound taken has a chance of killing a character. Divide Lethality by a character's Wound Recovery Potential to find Tissue Damage, then reference Tissue Damage on a table. 3 points of tissue damage is about a 2% chance to kill. 150 is essentially 100%. It's a sigmoidal curve, so the probability of death asymptotically approaches 1.(2) That's what 'BTBD' (Blunt Trauma Base Damage) is for. A very solid punch to the head fight deal 4 or 5 Impact base, which is then multiplied by 5.4 = 21.6 or 27 points of damage, or about a 53 or 54% chance of death, given that the wound is left entirely untreated. Medical treatment could decrease that to an essentially 0% chance of dying.
I personally feel that tabletop games shouldn't be too simulationist, but congrats
>>97392975Yeah, if you need a computer to help with the maths then that's real bad. If you have to worry about how computationally heavy the math is so the computer won't take too long doing it...And the real kicker with highly complex "simulationist" wound systems is that they quickly end up going way beyond what any scientific data can cover for them (going fully quantitative in situations where the science is in many cases barely qualitative), meaning the"realism" is just something the author pulled out of his arse.
>>97393090This is derived from the old COMPUTER MAN model that was cooked up by the US in the 70s and then the Germans' Verwungsmodell Schutzen from the early 2000s, both programmes having been develop with a lot of inputs from experts in the field of wound ballistics as surgeons and researchers.
It fucking sucks.Long live V20.That's the thread.
>>97390935>I probably heard someone else say it,at least you're honest about it
>>97382844>It fucking sucks>sucksI see what you did there!
>>97391433You're saying that like I'm supposed to be embarrassed about it, I don't know why. People learn idioms and expressions from others, dude. There's no reason to *lie* about that, so praising me for being honest is ridiculous. You sound like a paranoid schizo; nobody has any reason to lie to you.
>>97389021I'm not opposed to risk but considering you have to make a rouse check to wake up, appear alive, and use any discipline beyond the first dot: the game is literally just setting you up for failure. To even perform the basics already puts you at potentially 3 hunger before leaving your haven since the last dot doesn't go away unless you fully drain a victim. It doesn't feel like I'm taking a risk. It feels like I'm just waiting for RNGzus to tell me I spazzed out while driving and decided to reenact Death Race 2000.

>>97393092>The most notable thing about Halta is, at least in its original Scavenger Sons writeup, that it's a nation in the trees, though.Scavenger Sons shouldn't be taken as gospel, especially over the literal book about Halta. It's a book dedicated to quickly skimming over many world locations, giving you enough information to run a game without going in-depth on anything.
>>97393117It's the opposite. The quick blurb gets you the most important point. Who cares about all the scribble in the book? I agree that these dumb border size discussions dilute the gimmick
>>97393092Halta has gone beyond how it was depicted in Scavenger Sons (for better and worse). I think Halta should be way smaller, but I'd still like it to be big, but also incorporate the size more into the lore besides from having a ridiculously large army.
>>97393117The literal book about Halta is a contender for the worst book in 1E, I'd say, and that one definitely shouldn't be taken as gospel. The fact is that Halta was originally presented as a bunch of guys living in trees and doing alright for themselves, which was cool and memorable, the kind of thing that wouldn't really work in the real world but fits Age of Sorrows Creation just fine. Then Kingdom of Halta decided, for absolutely no discernible reason, give Halta absolutely ridiculous population numbers, numbers completely out of scale with the rest of the East and with Halta's supposed arch-enemies, the Linowan. It was one of the dumbest writing decisions in the whole game's history. After that Halta's size obviously became the most notable thing about it, but in the worst possible way. People have been either complaining about or ridiculing Halta for a long, long time now, anon, and it might be a good thing to, you know, try and make it something other than a source of complaints and an object of ridicule. I think I said this before, but if you reduced all the numbers given for Halta - it's population, Chanta's population, it's geographical size - to one-tenth of what they were in 1E and 2E, you'd still be left with a large nation as far as Age of Sorrows is concerned, and one that's truly, extremely impressive considering its circumstances.
>>97393144>also incorporate the size more into the lore besides from having a ridiculously large armyIt literally is, though? That's why it goes on and on about agriculture and it's magical solutions to a bunch of problems, and why it talks about how it handles it's relations with the more-and-more clearly beastmen settlements out east, since it's claim stretches east without limits even into the Wyld, and about how it stretches over the lands of three separate fae courts and deals with icewalkers too. Halta is isolationist by intent, because it means it isn't a world power and doesn't have to deal with anything more distant than it's borders that doesn't come to it, but within that it's absolutely part of the lore. The Realm's involvement, it's trade and tourism, it even specifies every First Age ruin inside it's borders because those borders are more occupied and acknowledged than they are for most of the states around Creation that have trouble defending and controlling space beyond the city walls.

In both cases there is a a logical class with a logical difference in means of action that demands words to describe it. Just because there is not a demonstrable extant member of "god" or "miracle" like there is for "humans" using "sapience" to distinguish their faculties from those of parrots or corvids does not remove the necessity to preserve the meanings of those words that fulfil said demand.

what's the best tabletop rpg if I want to make a campaign that's basically a shonen anime style tournament?
>>97373930Unironically D&D 4e, followed by FFd6 and 3D&T. Reskinning D&D 4e to YYH would be trivial.
>>97392082I think they still want RP elements
>>97392195RP elements for shonen anime style tournaments like YYH's Dark Tournament are mostly what the class powers assume their personalities are. From that pic alone Bui is a strong silent type, the Toguros are a powerful no-bullshit man and a scheming rat, Sakyo is a calm Yakuza type, and Karasu is a goth weirdo. I'd say you could easily play these characters, in character, as 4e classes, maybe a defender, striker, controller, leader and another controller/striker hybrid. If OP doesn't mind the medieval setting he can use it right out of the box, with anime images from some booru for character and location art. 4e like this was by far the animest anime TTRPG experience I had at least (that didn't involve a clear main character), though I won't say I tried too many systems. It does take some reskinning though, but if OP wants a more specific polished setting closer matching to his tastes he should just go after the official (or best unnoficial) TTRPG of what looks closest to his favorite anime.

>>97376611>>97376717Use Phoenix Command Hand-to-Hand or Sword's Path Glory. It's a much more elegant way of handling this issue and eliminates pretty much every weird result you've ever seen.
