>>96911335>That is because you assumed SG and GW 40k/AoS are the same, but they aren't. SG is Forgeworld, a subsidiary of GW with different leadership, budget and production line.FW got folded into GW proper years ago dude. There's still a dedicated specialist game team that handles stuff like Necromunda and Blood Bowl and TOW but they're directly under GW.
>>96911431FW got folded into GW They're always part of GW, do you think the machinery and building at FW grew legs and merged physically or something? They got their own building, leadership, budget, and machine to produce their own kit separated from 40k/aos, why am i repeating myself?

SDS shoots their plastics through the same facility all GW's stuff is shot through, the same facility that is constantly tapped out and failing to meet overall kit demand. GW does not and cannot spin up new plastics injection plants at will, ya turd-mouthed idiot.a) they are not a subsidiary, and b) by your own retarded logic GW would be unable to poach "Forgeworld" employees for 40K if "Forgeworld" was a totally separate entity. You put on an absolute showcase of Dunning Kruger excellence, though, grandpa dumbfuck.

I made and played a mounted archer once, back in 3.5 days.It was cool and novel. Sup /tg/. I come here tonight to present you with The Realm of Yolmi.I first learned about this book years ago while reading the Critonomicon thread on one of the arhives, from this post >>24433917.>I hate to break this to you, OP but this is not the true RPG hunt.>The true all consuming RPG hunt, is the hunt for an intact copy of Realm of Yolmi. This fabled book has gained near legendary status as one of the strangest RPGs ever written. As far as I know, there are no scans. When it came out in 1977, the book had a very small circulation and seeing as it was printed literally on printer paper and bound with plastic rings it should come as no small surprise that very few copies have survived. I chalked it up as a neat little oddity, set an ebay alert, and forgot about it. Just last year a seller with an intact copy posted a listing there, then I shat bricks as I remembered what the hell I was looking at. I managed to be the lucky soul to buy it from him, and then I proceeded to be a piece of shit as I procrastinated fixing my printer and scanning it.Today I finally took 30 minutes to finally troubleshoot my printer, and then spent the next few hours in between handing out candy digitizing this old tome. Did a page check of the PDF and found pages I was missing, also finding out that the book skips page 32 due to a typo, going straight from page 31 to page 33. Regardless, here is the complete work as a searchable PDF for your amusement and bewilderment. The text may not be entirely accurate due to OCR errors. I'll mirror it on the Internet Archive shortly.https://files.catbox.moe/nlvjpv.pdfHappy Halloween, /tg/.

Hypothetically speaking, what would be the optimal solution to the problems of WoD if all the splats (or the good-alligned ones) decides to stop being stupid and actually worked together to solve their problems? I've decided to decease my internet time and blue light exposure, buy an ebook reader, and get used to finishing the day with some reading, instead of all the other things that give me insomnia. What /tg/-related books have you been reading anon, or what you think what other people should read too? I've read Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit before I knew what the hell ttrpgs even were. Same with the original Dragonlance books. I was thinking of picking up Elric of Melnibone and Original Conan the Barbarian. Already read and enjoyed Eisenhorn, most of the Slayer books with Gotrek, first 1.5 of the Black Company books. I need to find some pdfs of the Warhammer crime stuff. For non-40k I read the majority of the Earthsea series. The books up until Ged loses his power were great, after that they were pretty boring or involved entirely different characters so I was no longer interested in the story

Would Delay Death and Regenerate be enough to allow me to cut out my own heart and survive?Found myself in a bit of a jam.
>>96911972Death Delay states "the subject of this powerful spell is unable to die from hit point damage." Cutting out the heart is a bit more than hit point damage. "A condition or spell that destroys enough of the subject's body so as to not allow raise dead to work, such as a disintegrate effect, still kills the creature," and Raise Dead says "While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life."So no, you're not Leonid Rogozov. You're gonna have to figure out another plan.
>>96911972Three big problems i see with your plan>TimingRegenerate takes three full rounds to cast, and its effect is instantaneous, so it would need to be cast after already having removed the organ which, depending on how your DM might spin it, is not an easy feat>RAWDelay death specifies that it doesn't cover death via ability score damage (extreme CON damage from removing a heart) or death effects (as above, just interpreted differently. think of it like vorpal)>LuckAssuming you might not want to make use of the removed heart again, you'd need to grow a completely new one. The spell specifies that yes, it is possible, but it'd take 2d10 rounds, so up to two full minutes.Delay death, meanwhile, has a duration of 1rnd/CL, which is not ideal given what you are trying to accomplish. Tying back to the first point, in the worst case scenario you'd need to cover 25 rounds with it, but i suppose you could refresh the spell while regeneration is in effectAll this is assuming you're doing the casting and operating yourself, it'd clearly be easier with external help, but you'd still be iffy on the second point. I'd suggest veil of undeath for it, since it turns your CON to -, which has the great benefit of bypassing all fort checks
>>96911607I know druid is supposed to be the most powerful 3.x class but I cannot for the life of me bring myself to play one. It's a bit easier with cleric and wizard but I can't put myself in the mindset to do a druid. How do people here get into the headspace of a druid?

>>96912072Just speculation. Can’t really think of a hero type that wouldn’t be redundant beyond that.

>>96912088I guess they could redo some of the older heroes, the oldblood on foot noticeably comes with a fancy sculpted square base, it's also stylistically much more like the old saurus instead of the new. The skink starpriest too is quite old but that one holds up without any issues in the current range.
>>96912091Before I forget though they have their bullshit proprietary lightbulbs so do t forget to buy a pack of them with it if you go to try it out. Still about a quarter of the price of the alternatives I was looking at if not more.
I know MERP had the best illustrations but what is the most lore-accurate Tolkien TTRPG? Some games make up bullshit especially regarding the magic system.BTW, post some old school Tolkien illustrations
>>96908504>How are most Tolkien-inspired games doing Dwarves wrong?Dwarves were not ever described as being aggressive drunkard Scots for one thing, nor were they just short people with beards. They were hardy, strong, stubborn, but honourable people, designed to survive through the harsh times of the First Age. D&D first began the trend of Dwarves being axe-wielding morons, but the LotR films really cemented them as this slapstick idiot viking midget trope.>I mean, sure, the Balrog in LOTR isn't described in tons of details, but imagining them as horned devils doesn't seem too far-fetched?It's too Christian to think of them like that. Tolkien's pretty much only inclusion of his faith was having a single primary God in Eru Iluvatar, but the bulk of divine interaction in Arda was the Valar, which were much closer to a pagan pantheon style of deities than anything Christian, precisely because Tolkien was going for a native British mythology to fill the gap that Arthurian legend (polluted by French and Christian ideologies) awkwardly perched in. It's then fairly obvious to see that Balrogs would be less like Christian demons or devils in aesthetic, and more like fire giants of Norse mythology, since it's clear Tolkien used a lot of Norse mythology already. Less horned goat and more enemies of Asgard.>Aren't Ents described by someone on Saruman's side as looking like a forest that walks? That's the Huorns. They were what looked like a moving forest, because they were literally trees that could move. Ents (name derived from Ettin) were always described more as giant humanoids, similar to trolls, but with some traits that resembled trees (Treebeard, for example, had smooth brown arms, a beard that had some slight mossy and twiggy qualities, big feet with seven toes each, and what was likely clothing made of green and grey bark but potentially was his torso skin, though I lean more towards clothes, his arms were bare and not bark-like, neither were his feet).
>>96908867>(polluted by French and Christian ideologies)Stopped reading right there. You know that Tolkien was an outspoken Catholic, right?
>>96905120The Dunedain as depicted in the Last Alliance are pretty book accurate. They're mostly armored in mail, with wings on their helmets.
>>96910275>Stopped reading right there. Then you stopped reading after I said "Tolkien's pretty much only inclusion of his faith was having a single primary God in Eru Iluvatar", which then renders your question pointless and dishonest. Tolkien did NOT equate his faith with his wider purpose of creating a true English myth. Which is why he never jumped the shark like his friend CS Lewis did when he included a talking lion version of Jesus, for example.
>>96908867>Ents (name derived from Ettin) were always described more as giant humanoids, similar to trolls, but with some traits that resembled treesInteresting. I had the chance of reading LOTR before the Jackson movies came out, but for some reason I still pictured them as animated trees. But re-reading about it, yeah, it seems that indeed you are right.Perhaps what got me confused is that they are said to "come to ressemble" the essences of trees they were watching over and "sometimes turn more tree-like with the time".We don't have any illustrations of Ents made by Tolkien himself? Or at least, directly Tolkien-approved?You also mentioned that the weapons and armour shouldn't be medieval, which period would be the best equivalent to late 3rd-Age tech level?

>>96907018Ok, James I’ll bite.I think most reasonable assumption is to see what kind of homebrew people like (since they make it, means they want it in their games) and then which parts of books are praised the most (since they enjoy it, means they want more of it).I’ll admit. Most of the gaping issues are fixed by this point, we got FBCs, we got… hmm furries aren’t my thing, but we did got them, martial arts were greatly expanded, we got a shitload of weapons, vehicles, sometimes drugs, drones, net gear and shit.Man, just thinking about it makes me realise how far we went the DLCs, sure part of the content is whack (it depends but it’s like 40% for me), but hey, it’s free.Compared to the 2020 series, at this point we would’ve had like 5 books about entire continents lore (including space), multiple adventures (I don’t even count them because I dislike the concept of pre-made adventure).
