Blokees have been making great strides lately and making good use of their licenses. What does /toy/ think of them? I find their rate of growth quite impressive especially for the quality of their pseudo-model kit figures.

If they do female Rivals figures they’ll probably be faithful to the game’s aesthetic, which is already better than anything Hasbro attempts with its Gamerverse stuff.

my first blokees. while you dont need tool to build it, the guide book fucking sucks. a lot of unlabeled parts. as the figure itself its exactly what you get for the price, decent range but cant do extreme pose, the orange color is somehow different. on top its doff middle glossy and the hip is doff again. good enough for not so favorite toys
>>
Got Scyther in yesterday. He's really cool and pretty easy to assemble. I wish the legs had a bit more articulation but given the design he's very fun to pose and he looks great. Also the base with the bamboo is neat.

Don't they have a superman figure for the movie?

Nothing from them interest me but the Marvels Rivals stuff. They are a little bit too pricy outside of China too....

Happy New Year anons. I picked up this horse figure a few weeks ago in a loose fig bin specifically for this character and buddy of mine wants to do the same but I can't ID it.

It's a 1/12 scale and has a hidden button on the rear left thigh for galloping action.

I'm pretty sure its not a yotijay or any version of Shadowfax that I can find.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

He's real, which is a darn shame.
But he's not giving up his clout.
Since that all he really wants from this board or reddit.

I'm in the opposite boat, you can't substitute for the real thing.

Yes, modern toys may be objectively better, but they're still only stand-ins. Masterpiece Optimus Prime is not the one you played with as a child. They do not evoke the same emotional response vintage toys do.

Reissues and knockoffs aren't the real thing either, but at least they're close enough.

For me it's the pricetag.

The fact that you could just get the Soul of Chogokin Godmars for what they're asking for this is ridiculous.

My mom used to work as a housekeeper, and when people would leave shit behind in their rooms after checking out, they'd keep it if it was interesting.
One day she came home with that line's Gandalf the Grey, and found the rest of the accessories the next day.
His hat is molded to his hair, and his bags slot into little holes on his belt, and he has a hexagonal stand with a bit of the Middle Earth map on it.
She gave it to her brother, who's always been a big LotR fan.

I only plan to deaccessioning everything valuable that I don't want - which is quite a bit.

It's not really a toy thing because I'm also workign on getting rid of a lot of things. I've actually been lean for the past decade plus because I was in a studio and had no space. Now, I have extra closet space and extra shelves, etc., and it's time to get back and get rid of crap - and that includes more than toys. I already donated a bunch of things to a Vietnam Vet's charity, they even came and picked everything up.

Any grails are generally absurdly scalper priced on the secondary market, so I wait for them to fall in my lap. If they do, they do - if they don't, BFD.

I apply spending limits and then gift cards falls in my lap. Most incomplete sets I care about are also similarly a grail situation so again, not going to give in to scalpers. When I see people who paid absurd prices this past summer for shit I am finding on deep clearance today, it's funny.
Sad but funny.

Beyond. Epic. Win.

I've wanted this for FIFTEEN YEARS

Why did the CIA think making Osama bin laden dolls into a fusion of darth maul would be a good psyop to scare kids? It just makes him look cooler
>>
>>11662341
I doubt that the CIA did that. Back in the late 90s/early 00s you could buy 1/6 scale figures of all the world's villians. Even ones like Hitler. It was all sold under the excuse of "historical purposes."

Will there be a shirtless seph figure with the ultima weapon as a bonus, or am I hoping too much?

What do we do to stop shf from getting worse each year while raising the prices. There hasn't been a SINGLE release without issues in years now. The new goku is practially a landmine of QC issues and let's not even start with how low quality the one piece and mha line are...or god forbid, the berserk figures.

Fair point. I guess my nostalgia just made me remember those figures as better looking than they actually were.

How do you feel about buying toys of stuff from movies you haven't seen, games you haven't played, etc? Not just like, I collect Marvel Legends and I haven't read any of the comics featuring this character but she looks cool so I'm adding her to my collection. I'm talking full on, this is from a property you know nothing about, if anyone asks you anything based on the assumption that you must be familiar with the source material you'll just have to shrug.

Like, I like this vaguely evil looking chick. Never played Final Fantasy 16, have no plans to, have no idea who she is or what her deal is. But cool toy, kinda want it.

There's 2 types of collectors and a ton of overlap.

The first is "character" collectors, who just want a representation of whatever MCU, tv show or anime they like. This is why funkos exist, some people just want their character in some form.

The second are toy collectors, who buy toys based on the toy itself, rather than the franchise it's attached to.

I assumed there was a ton of overlap between the 2, like I buy all Classified because I love Gi Joe, but also buy shit I don't know about and looks cool, and then some military toys of franchises I don't know because it could fit with Joes.

It's Boring as fuck tho, some movies are good but thats it
Gunplas are really cool tho, wish they make other model kits with that quality and ease of build
>>
>>11657482
Gundam is like every mainstream anime. It's story progression or action scene for 3 minutes, and dialogue for the rest of the 17. Gundam isn't even about the robots, it's about the pilots who do nothing whether they're driving them or not. Also all gundams look the same, they're either Zaku or the humanoids with forehead gold crests
>>
I think you’re getting hung up on the belief that people will judge you as a fake fan or an inauthentic person for having a toy from a thing you don’t know or care about. But just appreciating the aesthetics of a really good character design isn’t in any way shallow or inauthentic.
I’m a big Star Wars action figure collector, which is due in part to the fact that I like the Lucas Star Wars movies, but it’s also a simple product of the fact that I really like the costumes and weapons used in the movies, too. I would probably collect Star Wars figures even if I wasn’t a huge Star Wars fan because the designs for things like the robots, Boba Fett, the stormtroopers, darth vader, etc., are capable of standing on their own as really good designs, and would be deserving of praise independent of the existence and quality of the Star Wars multimedia franchise.
