How do you feel about buying toys of stuff from movies you haven't seen, games you haven't played, etc? Not just like, I collect Marvel Legends and I haven't read any of the comics featuring this character but she looks cool so I'm adding her to my collection. I'm talking full on, this is from a property you know nothing about, if anyone asks you anything based on the assumption that you must be familiar with the source material you'll just have to shrug.

Like, I like this vaguely evil looking chick. Never played Final Fantasy 16, have no plans to, have no idea who she is or what her deal is. But cool toy, kinda want it.

There's 2 types of collectors and a ton of overlap.

The first is "character" collectors, who just want a representation of whatever MCU, tv show or anime they like. This is why funkos exist, some people just want their character in some form.

The second are toy collectors, who buy toys based on the toy itself, rather than the franchise it's attached to.

I assumed there was a ton of overlap between the 2, like I buy all Classified because I love Gi Joe, but also buy shit I don't know about and looks cool, and then some military toys of franchises I don't know because it could fit with Joes.

It's Boring as fuck tho, some movies are good but thats it
Gunplas are really cool tho, wish they make other model kits with that quality and ease of build
>>
>>11657482
Gundam is like every mainstream anime. It's story progression or action scene for 3 minutes, and dialogue for the rest of the 17. Gundam isn't even about the robots, it's about the pilots who do nothing whether they're driving them or not. Also all gundams look the same, they're either Zaku or the humanoids with forehead gold crests
>>
I think you’re getting hung up on the belief that people will judge you as a fake fan or an inauthentic person for having a toy from a thing you don’t know or care about. But just appreciating the aesthetics of a really good character design isn’t in any way shallow or inauthentic.
I’m a big Star Wars action figure collector, which is due in part to the fact that I like the Lucas Star Wars movies, but it’s also a simple product of the fact that I really like the costumes and weapons used in the movies, too. I would probably collect Star Wars figures even if I wasn’t a huge Star Wars fan because the designs for things like the robots, Boba Fett, the stormtroopers, darth vader, etc., are capable of standing on their own as really good designs, and would be deserving of praise independent of the existence and quality of the Star Wars multimedia franchise.

Saw an unboxing of that fig and wow, the changes really looked amazing. So am I right in assuming that the skull mask/helmet will be included as part of the update or what? Because I've been wanting a hulking Oni figure and I'm only willing to get it if it included the skull mask.

>FOMO bullshit
it's bad enough i get spamming emails about them"finding" oldshit that didn't sell out that they kept on claiming was on the verge of selling out, but to see new bullshit written up here is worse.
>>
>11662095
>spamming emails
Sounds like a skill issue.
>>
>>11662025
I'm now 99% convinced that the skull head is a regular part. It's featured as an integral part of the figure on the box and other sylized promo materials almost to the point of being the main look, and pretty much all other stores make no mention to it being preorder only.
Anon's report on Bombushbee being often wrong makes it sound like indeed they read a statement from the maker saying that existing preorders would be upgraded to the new look with the new head, and they took it as the head being preorder only.
>>
>>11662185
Yeah looking it up on various sites, and even more unboxing videos, it does seem like the skull head is being marketed as the main look for the figure and I haven't seen anyone else making mention of it being a pre-order bonus. Well I'm definitely more keen to get it now. It really looks awesome especially considering the price.

It's easy for be because I suppose my interests(that get toys anyway) are limited, I'm a bit of a snob so I don't want 5 PoA trash, and I'm a generally cheap bastard.
If something is going to cost me more than $100, it better goddamn well be worth it.
>>
>>11660849
Frogposters are none of those things, and certainly not useful in any real way
>>
I don't keep any kind of weekly/monthly/etc. limit but I have a hard rule of never spending more than $50 on a toy.
I guess "hard rule" isn't quite accurate since I'll bend a bit for bundles or starter sets etc. but the sentiment is to always remember they're just toys and not something I actually *need.*
>>
>>11661322
many imports that cost $100 now are full of QC issues.

I use aliexpress some times since their shipping is cheapest and have only been scammed with kos once. but they were skeletons so luckily it didn't matter as much.

Hi everyone, my nickname is Greedo3:16 and I've been thinking about it and decided to make a custom figure of Jun Sekibayashi from the anime Kengan Ashura (since I loved the anime/manga). I chose this Blanka figure as a base; I just need to make a few modifications, cut out some parts, and paint the skin. Any advice?
>>
>>11657243
Hi greedo3:16
>>
>>11657243
The hair will probably be the hardest part, he has braids or "corn rows" curious if you could sculpt that or just use another figure with that hair style.
>>
>>11657243
If you wish to make his hair, i suggest getting some of that Greenstuff world roller stuff, some of them make thee dreads and other tendril like bits, also i suggest using the Customs general thread next time
>>
>>11657243
if it turns out good I'll make you an offer you can't refuse
>>
>>11657243
Isnt Blanka too expensive? Why not use a bootleg Zangief or Yujiro instead?

Is all mg gonna be this kind of hands? Or am I wrong since I also saw some being not? How do I know? I ve been a dedicated hg buyers(not collector) and honestly,it's been pretty boresome with those, plug unplug hands, fingers

So 1,500 pesos is about $83
On that site, your average TBS figure is 699 or about $38
TVC prices seem to inconsistent but not counting sales they range from 539 to 639, so that's about $29-$35
BUT!
They can get a TVC Jod Na Nawood for the low price of 479.20, a steal at $26!

these figures are great. The third movie made me a huge fan of Quarrich - easily the best character-you can watch these basically for him.
Quaritch is like...i don't know... Like Megatron. The "bad dad"-character (if people like Optimus are good father figures Quaritch is the badass bad dad-figure)

i didn't have them all but ordered them. can't wait to start collecting my little Quaritch collection - him in Mech and him on that flying bird-thing

you have to be a zoomer not to understand why people try to avoid MCfarlane

we had YEARS AND YEARS of McFarlane being nothing but fragile and statueshit figures with lots of pointy parts that would self-explode after a couple of day.

I personally hated their Resident Evil line and those random edgy villains and maniacs despite they looking cool
but...
idk who the fuck would own such figures these days

to me McFarlane was always "that retarded company that makes ugly as fuck fragile statues that MAYBE will be having 1 (one) movable arm"

Unless you just want a larger ng3 ryu, get the revoltech.
It comes with about the same amount of accessories but MUCH better articulation for around the same price. I like the ryu but I kinda wish I bought the revo instead.
>>
>>11661605
I heard AY Ryu has loose wrist pegs and the crappy Yamaguchi loose knee QC issue.
>>
>>11661864
Yes those are common problems, I still rather have the ng3 revo instead and that is coming from a person who complains about it. The entire torso articulation isnt that great and lacks a butterfly for some retarded reason. They couldve easily modified part of the flesh part on the chest. The crotch piece also gets in the way but it is soft plastic so you can fuck with it a bit.
Dont get me wrong, I still like this guy but the ng2 can outpose this effortlessly.
