Anyone have experience with these Maileg toys, specifically the mice? I bought a bunch of them that I'm going to bring out as a christmas display. I'm a single gay nerd so I have to make my christmas tree look like a family uses it, so I put a bunch of stuff that looks like I have people in my life. Dollhouse general otherwise since these are dollhouse scale.
>>

Unless you are in a very rural or some other situation, it's not hard to meet some folks. I haven't had a "family" holiday in over a decade. People make their own families, this is true whether you're a gay nerd, a straight geek or are anti-social autist who plans to pull something untoward at a post office, chapel or school.
People meet people and they hang out. I was doing a Christmas Eve pot luck for years with a combination of foreign folks who were in town visiting and had no where else to go, friends of the host, and a lot of invited 'orphans.'
As long as you brought booze, food or both, you were welcome.
I appreciate wanting to celebrate in your home, though.
Mice look okay, not familiar with those; tree looks sad. You'd be better off using whatever toys you own and going to a craft store like Michaels or a fabric store.
You don't have to buy Black Series SW clone troopers in stupid plastic santa hats, or TMNT turtles or Batman or any of the crap companies try to sell us this time of year, you can just do it yourself, with the things you have in your own home.

What’s on the workbench, /toy/?

Sculpts, castings, original plushies, 3D prints, dioramas, mods, kitbashes, and repaints are all welcome!

Post WIPs, finished projects, ideas, techniques, ask for advice, and most of all, have fun!

HELPFUL TIPS:
-Invest in a rotary tool such as a dremel for sanding/sculpting, especially a flexible extension tip.
-Pin vises for drilling holes can be found at hobby stores like Hobby Lobby and are great for making peg holes.
-For soft, flexible parts get Sugru silicone putty and Oyumaru
-Hardware epoxy putties such as Waterweld, KwikWood, and PlasticWeld are similar to milliput, greenstuff, and apoxie, can be cheaper some times, and can be found at local hardware stores such as Lowes, Ace, and Home Depot.
-Bootleg figures make great custom-fodder, especially if the legit figures are pricey.
-Body-chan/kun, Figma Archetype He/She, and Sozai-chan/kun are great base bodies for import-style human characters.

-For 3D models to use for editing, the following sites are good to bookmark:

This video felt deeply personal too me, as i believe the old lego died a long time ago. some time in the 2010's, that spirit that kept lego an original /toy/ died.

Most people seem to agree that Lego and TLG as a company suck now. And while there are some major points normies and MOCers mostly agree on, normies tend to hate on the wrong things about modern Lego. Like, I often hear normies complain about specialized pieces in Lego sets. Which is pretty weird because, while the system has improved a lot over the years with a lot of technical elements making more complex and detailed builds possible, modern Lego sets rarely use unique and specialized pieces anymore. And when they do they're mostly just minifig accessories. It was the 90s, the 2000s and maybe even the early 2010s when Lego went crazy with specialized elements. It's like normies think anything that isn't a basic brick is a specialized element. They'd call a basic Technic liftarm or a rounded System slope "specialized elements". The other thing is that they think now you can only build what you can see on the box art without any space left for customization and creativity. Which might be sort of the case with some of those really cheap and small sets, but adult normies tend to buy those large and expensive ones with a shitton of pieces, so I don't really understand why they think this is the case. Also, I think the existence of Lego Classic and Lego Creator (with those 3in1 sets) proves both of these points wrong. But I imagine most normies are unaware of the existence of these themes, because they aren't actually interested in Lego, they are only interested in the Lego version of Popular License™ which they only build once then display on a self until they get bored with it.

Late 2000s/early 2010s-black friday and christmas season was a period of a plethora of new toys and figures. Fast forward to now and barely anything comes out this time of the year. Why did the companies have to make christmas shit? Dont they want to make money so why would they refuse to put new product out until after the new year?

it's not about spoilers it's avoiding what happen with things like Eternals where you have a massive bomb compounded with merc that never sells eating even more money from you.

They are getting more cautious hence why things like the 3rd Ant man film getting very little merc at launch because they sooner be late to the party than have billions in unsold merc. And consdiering how that went it showed them that, yes, better to offer nothing the the mindless consumers and bring it out later for them(look at baby Yoda/Grogu) than to flood your market with Rose Tico that to this day, nine years later, can be found in clearance sections.

Hasbro didn't have any confirmation of any of them being in No Way Home until they saw the movie in theaters themselves. They clearly scrambled to get the three Spider Men some and then did the villains. Usually Marvel lets Hasbro know the general plot or gives them preliminary design work to base figures off of, but they just didn't do that for NWH. Everything was kept secret as long as possible.

Thats what i was complaining about, disney was fucking stupid being so secretive and wasting billions in the process by missing the mark on merch that didnt coincide with the movies release

I ordered mine from Gundamit and have had them for almost a week now. Yes, Chinese warehouses lile gundamit or bombusbee or weird aliexpress stores will get them a month faster than Japan and overseas. This is always the case, because of travel time and your JP warehouse needing time for sorting and shipping to you as well.

I didn't see a customs thread so i figured I'd just ask. I have a lot of experience printing my own figures but even with high quality stuff like PETG or ID resin I'm getting fed up with the joint wear from printed materials. Do you anons have any recommendations for prefab revoltech / figma style joints? that way tolerance isn't an issue and I can just sculpt and print the in-between parts like I'm used to.

Thanks. Now I'm gonna bump the thread with some pics of my last custom.

Are there any legal issues in regards to action figure joints? If I wanted to sell my own figures and made a mass produced mold with these things for articulation would I have to get a lisence from their manufacturer?
>>
>>11647062
>Are there any legal issues in regards to action figure joints
No. But you sound very green. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to have any figure mass produced?
>>
>>11647010
Nope, at least not the liquid, yellow shit variant that people bring up; just the "usual" PVC-gets-kinda-sticky-and-attracts-dust one.
And as said, it's ONLY that kind of joint.
All the white, gold, red, yellow, etc. and matte black ones are perfectly fine.
>>
>>11636824
Looks great. Can you tell me more about whole process? I've been looking into doing something similar for some characters that don't have figs and I thought about using popular dummy-13 project as base on which I'd sculpt parts to make it look like characters I want.
>>
>>11648970
sure anon. it was a pain but i rushed it out to impress an artist connection i had made. it took about 3 weeks, but then another week or so of polish. I used the original lucky 13 skeleton, which i think is the precursor to the more popular dummy. I work in zbrush and made liberal use of booleans functions, and i printed it on a bamboo a1 mini. Zbrush is shit for tolerances and i don't know other 3d programs very well so it took a lot of trial and error.

>Any idea how to identify them?
Google did reveal characters with parts. you can usually pick a part or two from each character, and do the humiliating (your experience may vary) "feeling up the bags" maneuver in the store. it might take some practice, the arms can feel like swords or whatever. but if there's a hat shape or pole thing, it's easy to tell if you have the right piece by feeling through the bag...

>Shovel doesn't hold that much weight anyways.
If Devastator is leaning forward then his weight is on the shovel. That’s just physics.
>>
>>11650811
Just part of it, it's pretty well distributed thanks to how the shovel arms work forming a sturdy frame and Mixmaster doing his job. At first I thought the shovel would stress but from my experience with the thing It doesn't worry me anymore. The shovel doesn't even flex and it's clearly designed to work that way going by how the Mixmaster foot also has a step on the very same place. I would rather have both feet being flat, but if that's impossible I go for both having the same tilt.
>>
>>11650810
>The instructions are wrong
Explain why Mixmaster has the exact same forward tilt then. The protruding part even lines up with the one on Scrapper's arms if you follow the instructions. At first I also thought the instructions were wrong, but it's clearly intentional.

I can't. Hasui sucks at his job now?
When the instructions also tell you to fold out the hands then there's something wrong. They don't make surface contact. They're functionally useless as heel support.
Can you explain why the elbows lock when bent the opposite way to what's shown in the instructions?
