That’s why each year you had tons of brand new shows debuting that would then get axed either within the first month, month and a half it the ratings weren’t good and then its timeslot would be filled with reruns or a random new mid-season replacement show. Others could manage to stay for maybe 13 episodes and call it quits after that. If you were lucky and get a full 24 episodes, it was still possible they wouldn’t renew it. Something like half of all new shows wouldn’t get another season, they ground them out like crazy.
