>>219210902The One wouldn't reject it because he's been carefully groomed, cultivated, and selected to not reject it. The One is the machine's plan. They just got tired of having to keep doing The One cycle and had Oracle tweak the One's grooming to make him love a singular woman rather than love humanity as a whole
What I don't understand is what certainty did The Oracle had that the machines wouldn't break the deal in the future. Machines can't lie or what? If they are intelligent AIs that have reached consciousness they can certainly lie.
>>219212317the machines considered themselves better than human and thought lying was beneath them. plus they seemed genuinely grateful to neo for saving them
>>219212317Did you watch the ending? They literally say they will stay true to it since lying is a trait of humans that they despise. It would be the humans that break the truce since they will always inevitably chimp out and demand more. It's why the AIs had to keep them inside the matrix because that's the only way to keep them from extinction but also contained and not starting more shit.
I think Wachowskis only directed action scenes and let their assistants direct other boring ass dialogue scenes. This is the movie's biggest problem.
Now the dust has settled, was it better than mos?
>>219210988The scenario only makes sense as an Israel-Palestine commentary, but it seems like they gave it just enough vaguely Russia-Ukraine flavored cosmetic aspects >Eastern European accents>onion-shaped buildings >Ukrainian style army uniforms etc, that they could plausibly deny it if, say, there was a huge ADL campaign accusing the movie of being antiseptic or something
>>219212237Literally Israel and everyone there should be eradicated, the Jewish religion afterwards
>>219211980I think you're taking the first half of BvS to heart and ignoring the conclusion of the movie. The whole point of BvS was that Batman, Superman, and even Wonder Woman had given up hope on themselves and their mission, not because of how the world/humanity is, but rather because they were unwilling to face their own demons and own up to their own mistakes. They were content on blaming others for their problems. That was what let them vulnerable to Lex's manipulations. The moment their confront each other, and were forced to stare straight up to their own demons, reflected in each other's faces, they realized that the problem was them. That's why Doomsday is shown in the movie as a dark mirror of Superman. It is his sin brought back from the dead and a destructive monster from outer space all in one. For Batman it was Superman, a "hero" he thought had no humanity and only brought pain to those around him in their vain attempts to play the hero. Or in Wonder Woman case it was Superman and Batman, exemplifying men not being able to work together and only fight one another. In each case they were seeing their own misconception of of themselves or reality reflected back, and instead of fixing their shit they externalized it.
>>219211980My dude, (YOU) are the one not catchi g the meta narrative behind BvS plot, sure this is valid in the first half, that EXACTLY what Batman represents, he doesn't belive in good, he belives everyone will turn on him, everyone will go bad and dreams are false. When Superman dies is when he changes his view and ZSJL is the exact opposite of BvS, the whole ZSJL event is the reason why even if Darkseid won, Batman would bet it all on keeping Superman on their side because he trusts him, not just because he is powerful. You are not wrong, this point of view is actually true in Lex and Darkseid point, Bruce's too in early part of BvS, but everything past the Batman vs Superman fight doesn't anymore, Superman proved he is a good person and that he was a hero, and with his death you see how people trully saw him and how important he was once he came back.
>>219209146I think it's not necessarily "suppression" per se, but more of a rising above the base emotions, the petty personal things, and towards a higher, selfless, almost spiritual/existential fulfillment that enables greater goods to tackle greater evils.

This is the first Star Wars movie to drop in almost 7 years. It comes out next month. Is it me or does it feel like there's not much excitement. I barely see anyone talking about it.

>>219209820They should have released this movie 3-years ago, instead of Mandalorian's third season.
>>219209820Star Slop has been extra sloppy since Mandalorian season 2. I fucked off after Book of Boba Fett destroyed the direction of the “Mandoverse”, and Kenobi somehow managed to make the PT and OT worse just by existing. I haven’t watched anything Star Wars related since, and from everything I hear I haven’t missed much. From what I hear, while Andor is well-made, it’s boring as fuck and doesn’t feel like Star Wars outside some window dressing.
>>219209820it's yet another one of filoni's incestuous, self indulgent projects does anybody actually give a shit about any of the characters in mando? what's even the point of trying to have a big story when all roads still lead to the sequels?not that trust filoni anywhere near it, but something set in the old republic timeframe would likely capture a much larger audience since everyone will be going into it roughly on the same page, instead of needing nearly 20 years of knowledge from half a dozen multi-season cartoons and other shows
>>219209820the comments on the first trailer were pretty scathing>"I'm glad Pedro is getting work again! Feels like it's been a few days since his last performance.">"Somehow Razor Crest returned">"This just looks like one episode of the show">"“Every Mandalorian Episode: The Movie”>"I feel like people were more excited for the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith re release than for this one.">"I will never forgive the creative team behind the show for bringing back grogu after his narratively satisfying exit from the story so Disney could keep using him for marketing "

>>219209010He should.
The Evening with Kevin Smith talks are really fun and interesting, but his reliance on self-inserts in his movies sucks. Also, I have absolutely no love for anyone that gets wet eyed about random geek shit (same with Simon Pegg walking onto the Star Wars set and weeping) whilst talking up made-for-selling-toys franchises like they’re transcendental high art. It’s okay for them to be pulpy and made for fun, you don’t need to insert extraneous emotions into these things to justify why you’re still into them as middle aged men.

Why didn't they just dig deeper to fish for ice?
I see why they wanted Jack Nicholson to play the Joker. In his role in The Shining he acts really unhinged and crazy, but honestly he's even more like that in that movie than he is in Batman. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but he feels more toned down, and that felt really disappointing.
>>219211845 This is basically it. 1989 Joker isn’t “crazy,” he’s indulgent. Shining Jack feels like a man deteriorating in real time. Batman Joker feels like a bored movie star having the time of his life being a ham.Burton’s Gotham is theatrical and operatic, so Nicholson leans into the vaudeville gangster bit instead of the axe-murderer schizo meltdown. It’s more Cesar Romero with a coke budget than “Here’s Johnny.” Different flavors. Also you can tell the movie low-key worships him. Keaton disappears for stretches while Jack gets music cues, museum scenes, parade setpieces. He’s not toned down, he’s curated. The insanity is filtered through studio blockbuster polish and Prince songs. The “I’ll tell you when you get there” anecdote is peak Burton though. Vibes > structure. Somehow it works anyway.

Ran began in the best mood possible amid high expectations. As soon as it began, however, I cocked my head. The opening was a short scene of beaters hunting down a wild boar; a feast at the end of the hunt followed. I thought it would be a scene of them roasting the various game they’d caught, a gorgeous, free and easy gathering fueled with sake, but it wasn’t. Rather, their clothes tidy, with the grace and poise of Noh performers everyone piously lent their ears to the words of the feudal lord (King Lear). All too explicitly, formalist beauty was taking priority over cinema’s own realist visual aesthetic. I felt a strange discomfort, and amidst my slowly mounting anxiety that this film wasn’t going to be fun, the story began in earnest.Visually, Tatsuya Nakadai’s King Lear is sharp and leaves a strong impression. His speech and action are crisp. But because the all-important point, how he’s perceiving things, isn’t as clear as it should be, there’s an overbearing sense that the story is being foisted or forced on you—it feels strangely phony. I already wanted to leave. Coming in, however, I’d seen and greeted many people in the lobby and the main hall. Herald people, Toho people, many friends and critics … Standing up and leaving the theater would be the shameless act of a heretic, simply off limits. My gaze began to drift from the screen to fall on the backs of the audience. My seat was a little behind the center so I could see the viewers in front of me well. People’s response to Ran was clear to me then and there, to a painful degree. They were clearly perplexed. They were still giving the screen their full attention but didn’t seem to know how to view this film. I crossed my arms. It was just as Master Oguni had fumed. The characterization was lacking at the script level; it was a clear mistake in the screenplay.
Why did they ruin hank in the later seasons?
>>219193467>Gas would be cheaper under CommunismDoes being an actor make you retarded or do you have to be retarded to be an actor.
>>219206099Sounds like we should be looking into electric vehicles. Sounds like if you were ball washing Elon Musk, the guy making the best electric vehicles, for decades and then suddenly decide he was a Nazi and all of his energy efficient products need to be burned to the ground, you'd be a fucking retard.
>>219197011thought you said he was american, not from bongistan
>>219208641That would be an improvement, but frankly electric vehicles are a bandaid. A way of pretending the problem is solved without changing the status quo. There are loads of problems caused by cars and gasoline is just one of them. Like car crashes which are the leading cause of death for people under 40, or tire dust which is the leading cause of microplastics in your balls. We should focus on reducing the amount of driving we do in the first place.More remote working where possible. Better transit systems. Better infrastructure for walking, cycling, and microelectric vehicles like scooters and ebikes.Of course driving a car will always be necessary, and electric cars have a role in the solution. But you don't have to use a car for fucking everything. People in my apartment complex drive cars to check their mail or throw out their garbage. The system is broken.I also think cars should be lighter and more energy efficient. A Tesla is designed to drive over 300 miles on one charge, but realistically most people don't need more than like 50. And lugging around that heavy battery you don't need makes the car inefficient, dangerous, and cumbersome. It's like loading a 100 gallon gas tank on the back of your pickup. We need to get away from this idea of using a single vehicle for everything. You shouldn't be using the same vehicle for daily commuting, long distance road trips, and hauling lumber. Also Teslas suck. Just really bad design decisions and build quality. I wouldn't buy a Tesla even if Musk wasn't a piece of shit.
