If you’re old enough to remember drive-ins, Foxy and Jackie are the perfect double feature on a cool summer night. Hateful 8 and Once insist upon themselves and aren’t fun. Kill Bill is a beautiful forgery. Death Proof is pretty schlock. Pulp is lovely, Reservoir is try-hard. Jackie Brown celebrates the distantly remembered queen of a genre one last time. The antagonist is scary and has a reasonable and understandable goal. It’s this exciting heist film. And the three perspectives of the heist done separately is good because there’s still excitement and rising action, it’s done really well. Jackie Brown gets shit on because men can’t tell if it’s a women’s picture, so they don’t know if they should like it, or if it’s not as good because Pam is old in it. But it’s a good film, and Pam is still hot.
