The best outlet for writing in 2025 is just to self publish digitally. Preferably make it a little multimedia with an audio version on Youtube, maybe some still images to go with the audio. Make it something people stumble across and is easily accessible. It's crazy that writers actually think there are people browsing through book stores and buying things because the summary on the back sounds cool. That died with the iPad. Put your own work out there and do it all yourself. It's not just cheaper, easier, and quicker than going through a publisher, you actually get to retain all rights to it so you don't get screwed down the line. There is quite literally no reason to ever go through a publisher. Hell, if even if you want physical copies, you can set up a Patreon and have them printed yourself.

A movie can absolutely have political themes and still be excellent as long as all the other elements of the movie are done well and the political themes are presented in an original and nuanced way that seems organic.The problem is almost all current political content in movies is absolutely heavy-handed and preachy surface level dogma like "men bad", "white people bad", "Christians bad", "everything traditional bad" etc.The other problem is this its often just current-year compulsory content, so it feels just jammed in at the expense of the story with no real purpose which breaks immersion, it's almost like a 4th wall break with the director talking to the audience directly.And the universal problem with this is that it destroys any credible discussion about the quality of the movie/show since all discussion immediately gets divided into those who agree with the politics vs those who disagree, which seems to be the point of it all, to get away with increasingly subpar movies and shows by having a consistent audience that agrees with the politics and will die defending it and being able to dismiss all criticism of the quality as political backlash.
