The Stranger (best opening sequence ever, might've been cool if they hadn't butchered it) still haven't seen The Immortal Story. not placing stuff he started but was finished by another director (aside from Touch of Evil I guess). There was a stretch where Michiba kept battling people from the same restaurant or something and the narrative was that more and more was on the line for this restaurant. And on the fourth battle it was like "Either we win or we close shop" and they finally won. Idk man maybe not every single battle. But I'd argue that some challengers won or lost because of outside pressures like building drama or because the challenger was already popular in Japan like that home cooking lady, and not really having to do with the quality of the food.All that said Michiba is still a solid contender.
Hey I got a question. When they are filming the TV show, do all the Iron Chefs need to show up? I mean for that part of the episode where they all rise out of the floor and challengers chooses who to fight. It must suck for the Iron chefs that aren't chosen. They still have to show up for work, change into costume, film for 20 minutes, and then drive home. A lot of time wasted for not fighting.
