I think either McBride or DDG or both revealed in an interview that in their "brainstorming" sessions about the movie they'd change stuff midcourse and had no idea how to end it. I did like the fact that the title doesn't lie and they really closed up the arc as unequivocally as possible but the trilogy is subpar and diminishing returns. The stronk wymmin trio was cringe and killing Judy Greer's character was a big mistake since she was the best actress of the bunch. JLC lost her fastball a while ago and was cringe

Calling The Guest a horror movie feels like a bit of a stretch, sorta like 8mm. Regardless, that was one of the best movies I’ve watched all month I think. The soundtrack, buildup of suspense, and action scenes were all great. My only small gripe was the ending because I didn’t care for the final reveal that Daniel had escaped wearing the firefighter uniform. I would have felt more satisfied knowing that the brother and sister had won and were safe but otherwise it was probably a strong 9/10 for me. Big thanks to whoever recommended me that one
