>>204096082Haunted Gold (1932), mainly because I'm a big John Wayne fan and like old westerns in general. Most of you guys probably wouldn't like it, but I put it on a lot at night to fall asleep to.Also has a pretty cute /hor/fu

>>204098093only you can really answer that. but it seems like a decent deal if you aren't highly particular about what you watch.
>>204096600Looks good, will check it out. Thanks for posting.
>>204095775I just watched this after having it recommended to me from several different people and places and was pleasantly surprised with how over the top hardcore it was. >>204098328Right? The dude was just trying to smash some prime young eye socket
Ended up not watching Castle Freak today. There's no way i'm gonna get through my whole list by the end of the month.
>>204098080Indeed, the protagonist is the least memorable character of the film due to said shittyness.
I just watched Terrifier, the only thing I know about these movies is the salt scene from 2 that I see the webm around here sometimes. This first movie was kinda boring desu, Tara is cute.
>>204096245Anon who just finished The Sadness and I think I’m going to end the night on this one going in relatively blind for the most part, it has been on my watchlist for a bit
>>204098435Make sure it is the classic Full Moon Castle Freak and not whatever shitshow that came out recently. Definitely worth watching.
>>204096674More like Secret Underground Complex of 1000 Corpses am I right?
>>204098458that's a good transition pick I think. decent modern films.
>>204098452I watched the first movie after watching the 2 for a halloween night last year. To me, 2 is fucking hilarious which left me pretty disappointed with 1.2 definitely goes on for too long, though.

>>204098477Yeah last October was all about campy horror flicks and classics so this year I wanted to dive into some more modern horror. Another one on my list is Relic which is great and I haven’t seen it since it came out a few years ago, same with Border so I have the two of those on deck but I’m looking for something new for tonight so I’m sticking with that
>>204098093They uploaded some good shit this month

>>204098802I've watched a lot of romances in my day but none of them made me feel as crushingly alone as Lisa Frankenstein. I don't even know why but that movie just made me super depressed.
>>204098678I wish I had time to do 3 a day. I've done that here and there but on a usual day, I work the night shift and get home around 11pm, so watching 2 movies lasts until about 2 in the morning, and I'm drinking festive alcohol all the while so I'm ready to sleep by the end of it. I love it, though. It's my favorite time of the year.
>>204098904Interesting, I love depressing films. Will check out.

Cheap horror flick full of jumpscares, some of them get through, some of them don't, but it doesn't have much more than that since the plot is completely nonsensical.

>>204095775>FrankenhookerAmazing first ten minutes (intro and opening credits). Not sure if they blew the whole budget on the opening or if they got more money to shoot it after the rest of the film was wrapped. The rest of the movie is a letdown after the intro but still a fun watch.

>>204105276Could be. Any recommendations on what you've watched recently? As I've gotten older, it's harder to find the time to sitdown and do a double feature, or a single movie everyday. But, I think I will change that today. >>204105378That's more like it. Very ambitious. I am currently downloading Lady in White (1988), but I'll add more today...
>>204103087Same phenotype as kid John Conner from T2. I can picture him complaining about his step parents.
>>204105424my rule is at least 1 movie per day, and if any remain at the end of the month i'll just put them on next year's list. though the last couple of spooktobers i've seen like 35-45 movies per month.
Spooktober 2/31 last nightWatched The Night Stalker (1972)Not my thing, I feel as though, like most older horror movies, it struggles to actually get you into the story. Feels like they haven't quite yet nailed how to do things yet so it just feels off. There's also effectively no effects and a good amount of bad shots/cuts as can be expected. It also felt like it didn't really have anything going for it, just a pretty shallow vampire movie that often felt more like a detective movie than a horror one.4/10
>>204105494Very nice. I'm currently downloading Lady in White and Longlegs. I was thinking of Speak No Evil as well. I gotta get it together or I'm ngmi. >>204105535That's a shame. I feel like the 1970s is such a high watermark for horror--Alien, The Exorcist, Suspiria, The Omen, Don't Look Now, etc.; etc.The last horror movie I can remember watching was Viy (1967) and that's been a while
>>204105424Hard to rec without a sense of your tastes. One of my favorite to come out this year is Cuckoo, though. Definitely a great film.
>>204105595I think I just like the newer style of horror movies more, obviously there's a few stellar horror movies that stick out. Alien, the thing, don't look now, the exorcist, the shining, etc. but surrounding them are a lot of movies trying to get their bearings in horror and I imagine they were likely better received in those days but going back to them now just feels like they're missing things
>>204101693That’s actually one of the next couple ones down to watch for this month on my list but I’m going to bump it up to this coming evening since you guys reminded me, thanks anon. I’ll be Bach
Who's stocking up on Temu Halloween garbage this year? I love this chintzy shit.
>>204105676That's a compelling question. I always liked creature features or movies about ghosts/demons/possessions. I dislike body horror, so like Raw (Grave) or Inside (À l'intérieur), which I know The Exorcist is a body horror film to some extent, but eh I have my limits and boundaries. Also, Martyrs made no sense to me. I found it completely unintelligible, also I was very drunk and saw it when it came out, so that might've had something to do with it >>204105706There will always be B-movies, exploitation, cheesy horror movies, the direct to video films of their day and nowadays etc. I think the last horror film I enjoyed was the VVitch, which is saying something. Fwiw, I tend to enjoy older horror films.
>>204101673To be honest, I prefer the crazy shit to Lake Mungo level. I thought Mungo was intriguing and had this entire narrative of twists and turns that I really liked but it just sort of falls so flat on its face by the last ten or so minutes. Maybe it’s because people were hyping it up so much that it couldn’t possibly live up to the buzz but I tried to go in relatively blind and all I knew was people all over this board and others kept saying “oh lord, that one scene when you see it is so chilling to the bone,” so when it happened I was like.. okay.. that was underwhelming. 90% of the movie is creepier than whatever that mildly eerie thing I saw coming from a mile away was
>>204101879But can I overestimate it? Please?
>>204105706>just feels like they're missing thingsThat's how it feels trying to watch modern horror.
>>204104140I almost feel like you shouldn't watch them both at the same time for the first time because they’re both so fucking good but south different movies that depending on which you watch first you’re going to potentially be robbing yourself of the crazy feeling of watching an incredible movie for the very first time and it could go both ways. Trust me, they’re both ones that you’ll want a few to think about and decompress afterwards and while if you’d seen them or even one of them before I’d say hell yeah rock on that’s a great double feature, don’t do yourself the disservice of not having two insanely great werewolf movie experiences rather just one that’s going to be almost too much of a disparately brutal sensory overload. If anything plan them for consecutive nights and definitely start with American Werewolf in London
i think im the only one on this board who didnt like dog soldiers that much.
>>204106016It was bretty meh. It's just, the only decent werewolf movie that isn't wolfman stuff. That's why.
>watching horror films from the late 90s, early 00s>the studio logos before the film starts>Warner Bros >Paramount >Miramax >Dreamworks>20th Century Fox >Universal>MGMWow, it's sort of insane how every studio just used to make one or two horror films a year. Now it's all A24, Lionsgate, or some independent film.
>>204106016Nah I hear you, I like Dog Soldiers and all but it definitely does get hyped up a bit much on here. Probably because they came out within a few years of each other so I watched them both around the same time, I feel like Ravenous is a movie that’s much more deserving of the prestige Dog Soldiers gets and one that I don’t hear discussed nearly as much even though I’ve always felt it was t away better movie.
>>204106110And yeah I know werewolves and wendigo aren’t the same but they both remind me of a very specific time in place in the early 2000s coming right out of the 90s which was objectively not the greatest decade for straight horror movies
>>204105535It's a crossover genre of the era, so I love it. Journalists exposing shit was a feature of the era, and there's this kind of disjointed paranoid investigative almost first person kind of movie that exists in all genres at the time. if you're not into the buckwild paranoid politics of the era though, most of those movies are someone blindly wandering through bizarre events between getting drunk and having a complicated sex life
>>204106180I felt disjointed BECAUSE people saw him as some crazy schizo even when he's saying it's someone who acts like a vampire. I feel like if two bodies were found in more recent movies or shows with bite marks on the neck and blood sucked out most people would assume thatHe didn't really put too much belief in it being an actual vampire till his wife showed him the book and he saw the shit the vampire could do at the hospital, at which point fair assumption honestly. If I saw a man throw someone like that and shrug off point blank shots I'd be quick to assume something isn't normal
>>204103087Rhodes did NOTHING wrong /rho/bros STAND UP
>>204106110i did appreciate the werewolf design to be fair. and you're right about ravenous. that movie is something special.
>>204105535I liked the TV series way more than either of the films
I think tonight will be the frog coal mining flick (thanks to an anon for mentioning it the other day). don't have high expectations but coal mines are a cool setting that I haven't seen used much
>>204106610Are they that different from caves which are common?
New Conjuring 4 photos.
>>204105803>I always liked creature features or movies about ghosts/demons/possessions. Maybe try The Night House. There's some mysterious spooky stuff going on there.
>>204106861>The Night HouseThanks...I will put that on the list.
>>204106660maybe not so much terrain wise but more from the people perspective. guys descending into a dark pit to partake in strenuous manual labor in tight, damp spaces, using explosives, exposing themselves to all kinds of potential hazards, etc. I also like the appearance of the aboveground stuff like the big tipples, coal refuse piles, company housing etc. I grew up in a former mining region and always liked hearing stories from the old guys that lived that stuff
>>204106480Shooting Frankenstein was justified, that shit was fucked.

>>204105991Yeah I hear you, I'll start with American Werewolf tonight.
>Terrisharter 3 only releases Oct 31 hereWell, that's disappointing.Anons will literally get to see it 21 days before me
>>204098261When Evil Lurks is also pretty hardcore
>>204102912> i have no idea what i'm doing better end the movieIt's not a bad movie, but you really can't call any of Fulci's stuff great either
>>204105378finished Longlegs, I thought it was good as a whole but kinda missed some opportunities. The twist in the end was good, I think that making the mother and main character more likable would have gone a long way.
>>204108502Longlegs was pish.

>>204099828the scene with the hookers and the supercrack is the best part though, combined with frankenwaifu shenanigans after the "revival". i'm not even sure what you mean with intro, because its fairly generic
>>204106610they really managed to set the time period with the props, very goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd5gWGfnK5M>>>/t/1333183

Pete and Pete's mom from The Adventures of Pete & Pete plays a recurring character in Frankenhooker and Basket Case 2.
>>204100681That some pretty tame thing to do when your wife cheats on you. Take notes Amerimutts and zoomers.
Someone baking?
>>204109836I’ll make it.
>>204109105Before the BBQ accident it looks like a totally different movie. The production quality is much higher, better sets and props, and the visual style is more like "early 90's weird," compared to the rest of the movie which looks more low budget 80's generic, almost like an episode of Night Court. Yes it still has great scenes and the movie is still good, but I find the sudden change to be jarring (especially as a huge fan of early 90's weird media).
You and your frens/family are on a road trip when the car breaks down. Would you rather it happen in the same place as The hills have eyes or the texas chainsaw massacre?Radiated mutant cannibals in the middle of nowhere new mexico, or inbred redneck cannibals out in the boonies in Texas?Which would be worse?
>>204110139Texas Chainsaw Massacre for me, it seemed an area where more people pass through. Also the foes seem outrun-able.
>>204110139it's too hard to hide and survive in a desert
>>204110139Texas. It would be way harder to get away in those hills.
>>204110204>>204110250Yeah but its got fucking leatherface too, and if its the remake fucking R Lee Ermey posing as a cop, youd be so fucked. At least you can tell who the mutants are and immediately know theyre up to no good. Aint none of you autists who would talk back when R Lee Ermey pulls you over and arrests you.
>>204110329>pulls you overumm sweaty the original post says our car broke down
>>204110361Makes it even worse dont it, cant even drive away. Id take my chances with the muties, theyre all diseased and handicapped, cept for that one guy who got retard strong. But wouldnt be too hard taking out this guy.
>>204110329Am i allowed to have a gun in this scenario?
