Ngl anons, we all know that the slasher is a low budget genre and I really wish that the directors from other countries made their own unique slashers, I'm tired of seeing the americans with this repetition and made the "cult" like violent nature or movies where the kill is more gruesome for the sake of shock value

There's a really odd tranquility about It Follows, i think it's the quiestest horror film i've ever seen, it's also very anti-climatic and the end is extremely weak. They really wanted to estabilish a Halloween (1978)-like suburban eerieness and at this i would say they succeeded. The abundance of wide shots coupled with the mostly wooden performances creates a real distance and coldness between the viewer and the characters that makes it hard to care that much for them. It's yet another modern horror with the greyish-blue dark tone in the photography because "it's muh horror so it must look dark" horseshit. Yet another modern horror with an uninspired lazy generic soundtrack, the music was really terrible. Pretty mediocre overall and i dislike most of the aesthetic choices.

Smile is a similar film that's much better.

Main girl had really nice feets though. Also, this whore fucked three different guys in the movie.

The simp looked like Jacob Collier.

no, it wasn't, it's retarded and made little sense even in the context of alien 1, but makes absolutely 0 sense after alien 3

who gives a shit what it expanded if it was done badly? do you also think covenant "expanded the universe"?

you can say that for countless movies that the general public and critics lambast as "the worst movie ever"
joker 2 is certainly well-made, definitely better made and more thoughtful than aliens lmao

and keep in mind, these are supposed to be among the best troops ever, pretty much the creme de la creme of what's available, and they walk around in gear that looks like it barely fits them and is about to slip off, always looking tired and confused, and pretty much acting like civvies apart from the fact that they're armed
it's pretty much just taking tropes from vietnam movies and inserting them in a place where they make 0 sense
>>
>>204744864
>LOL yeah bill paxton's and those other retards were really "acting"
I don't know why you disparage the acting.

>are you even joking? it's just typical flat lighting for hollywood slop
I thought it created a great atmosphere.

>what do you even mean by this?
The mix of costume, casting, make-up and generally making characters feel distinct and memorable.

>?
I thought it was sufficiently tense and successful in making the audience fear for the wellbeing of Noot. It worked as a horror film to me, despite being an action film as well.

>again, just standard 80s action movie slop
I don't judge movies against other movies in their generation, we're not discussing every other 80s movie, we're discussing Aliens.

>you can say that for countless movies that the general public and critics lambast as "the worst movie ever"
What's the issue? I don't care about the general public and critics. The question is whether Aliens is well made. I think it is and I listed some aspects which I consider well-made. You're welcome to disagree but you're going to need to be a lot more delusional to justify that position.
I didn't watch Joker 2 so making comparisons with it is a waste of time.

I the average Munsters episode had more of a plot than this movie, but it made me laugh a few times. It's hard to hate something trying so hard to be earnest.

>i fucking hate everything about the colonial marines, the characters in the movie, their awful presentation, and the fact that these designs carried over into stuff like halo and later avatar
You are a minority with this take. What do you want, boring stale characters? It not there will be blood, its a fun 80s action sifi horror movie.
>no, it wasn't, it's retarded and made little sense even in the context of alien 1, but makes absolutely 0 sense after alien 3
She was not believed on her account, lost her high salary capt license, and lost her family. By going back she would get her cushy job back, prove she wasn't lying, and help families like the one she just lost. Better than most movies protag motivation for doing stuff by far.
>but if someone told me they love this movie and hate avatar i might physically assault them
Avatar has way lamer characters and is a more boring movie.

Still requesting more kinos with killer soundtracks. Some good releases this year, but nothing really memorable so far and a large part of that is the music. it's like they don't even try anymore beyond licensing overplayed 80's songs and soulless modern covers

If you're blue, and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits?
Puttin' on the Ritz
Different types who wear a day coat
Pants with stripes and cutaway coat, perfect fits
Puttin' on the Ritz

Dressed up like a million-dollar trouper
Trying hard to look like Alice Cooper (super duper)
Come, let's mix where Rockefellers
Walk with sticks or umbrellas in their mitts
Puttin' on the Ritz

Have you seen the well-to-do
Up and down Park Avenue?
On that famous thoroughfare
With their noses in the air
High hats and Arrow collars
White spats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime for a wonderful time

Put on your best gothic attire
Join me tonight as we aspire
To rise above the mortal sphere
Embrace the darkness, cast aside fear

If you're feeling lost and alone
Step inside the haunted zone
Where shadows dwell and secrets reside
A realm where fantasies abound, take pride

Puttin' on the Ritz
With vampires and werewolves joining the mix
Puttin' on the Ritz
Capes flowing and faces as pale as milk
Donning Victorian garb, eerie smiles so vile
Entering together, hand in claw, miles wide
Puttin' on the Ritz

>focusing on grunts in space being as stereotypical as possible is my favorite thing
I liked Aliens the most when I was like 18, but in reality Aliens is an extremely unoriginal by the numbers movie piggybacking off Alien brand and design and introducing the most stereotypical slop possible at the time. It'd be like taking Phantasm and making a movie called Phantasms where GWOT marines go into a crypt to fight the orbs and the tallman ends up working for taliban or someshit. Even Alien 3 had better design and plot.
While we're there Res is just capeshit alien before capeshit existed, which is cool in its own way.

Junkhead. I think there is now a proper release so you can watch it in good quality.

I liked it too, it was true to the original series and the kids loved it. It's a family movie.

Currently watching the 21 Jump Street Halloween episode. This show rocks, man. Everyone looks cool as hell, the opening song bangs and it's a non-stop parade of actors before they got their big break.

I expected to hate this, but it was basically charming and entertaining.

There's been attempts to reboot Munsters, with new actors as Herman, and they generally don't even try to mimick the original. I get why; only Fred Gwynne can come across as Fred Gwynne. Having said that, I appreciate that this movie tried. There are even a few moments where Herman drops his guard and seems sincere, and those moments have a familiarity, like "that's the Herman I remember".

The entire movie was shit. They took the feedback about the second being too long and cut all the wrong shit.
>Cut Sienna going back for the sword
>Left with an awkward cut of her coming back with filthy hands after a scene of Art bombing the Mall, honestly thought for a second they were going to pull a "she's gone completely crazy and had a hand in blowing it up, Art isn't actually back and it's just her schizophrenia making her do shit"
>Literally why was she gifting Gabby the sword
>Why was there any tension in opening up the present when Sienna knew what was in it
>Speaking of that whole scene, due to shitty cuts it looked like a dream sequence at first, especially when it just skipped to Art having already killed the Uncle and tied up the Aunt

Well, the acting was ok, at least it came across that she is a radiant singer with a heart of gold.
