>Victoria Price's biography Vincent Price: A Daughter's Biography (1999) details Price's early antisemitism[51] and initial admiration for Adolf Hitler. According to his daughter: "When he went to Germany and Austria as a young man, he was struck by a lot of things going on during the Weimar Republic and the dissolution of the empire... So when Hitler came into power, instead of seeing him as a dangerous force, he was sort of swept up in this whole idea that Hitler was going to bring German pride back."[52]

listen to me you slimy little homosexuals I need help remembering a something I saw when I was a teeny tiny little kid. It was am anthology movie or maybe a TV show but definitely not feature length. It had that 1989 - 1991 kind of look. The story was a rich lady does a demonic ritual to resurrect her son. Of course the son came back evil. She has a huge mansion with like a huge rotunda room with a winding staircase and all white marble. He knocks her down the stairs and as she's lying there injured lightning flashes and he looks really scary and turns out he committed suicide to get away from her and a demon came back. I'm not sure if it was Tales from the Dark Side or even the 90's Outer Limits but does anyone have any idea?

Any type of horror that doesnt have any effect on you? Ghost stories dont really do anything for me (Catholics dont believe in ghosts; a spirit is a demon). Possession movies only really disturb me in certain ways. For example i found the cavorting of possessed bodies in the conjuring and hereditary laughable. What does disturb me is a implication in the Exorcist (especially in the book) where Reagan walks about the house at night and climbs out the window to desecrate the church. The idea of a person possessed by another entity walking about your house whilst you are sleeping is what disturbs me most.

It's my favorite guilty pleasure so I've seen a good deal of them, but am always trying out more to see which I like. I just watched Dark Was The Night last night which was up my alley. I wish the special effects were better (or that they went practical effects) but otherwise I enjoyed it, reminded me of old Syfy channel creature features (back when it was called Sci-Fi).I like browsing Tubi for horror movies I haven't seen yet but the biggest pain is the movie turning out to be a really low budget one that doesn't have professional camerawork, acting, etc.

Ok gonna rant- I support film 100%, but a massive screen stating “THIS WAS ENTIRELY SHOT ON 35MM FILM” is just fucking obnoxious. Also, why the fuck did it just look like oversaturrated garbage? Spend all that time and energy and it still looks like shit?Which horror film started the trope of “oh haha we’re gonna smash cut to inappropriate/unconventional music over this scene ahaha isn’t it funny and different and cute?!?” please tell me so I can go back in time and murder them. It isn’t interesting, it isn’t funny, it doesn’t add anything to the film, it’s total shit that takes me out of the film in a bad way. In fact, the entire score of this film was either horrible or stereotypical. At first I thought the “oh interesting, they’re doing chapters but skipping forwards” was a cool idea- skip all the “boring parts” and only show us the intense parts. That’s cool. But NOPE- just another Tarantino rip off where we go back in time and jump around for no goddamn reason. It’s not cool, it’s not interesting, it’s just another tired gimmick in a film already full of tired gimmicks.Bad acting, bad writing ontop of everything else. Why the fuck does everyone give a shit about this again?

>>204886465>>204886490The 2010s were a better decade for horror than the 90s
>>204886449Is there a point in watching Evil Dead 1 over Evil Dead 2?
>>204886106Unironically blinded by nostalgiaI can't wait until we have people saying >Ummm actually the 2010s were a great decade for horror! Who remembers all those PG-13 ghost movies and slowburn A24 films!?
>>204886391It feels like a half and half film. Ends with a Poe quote at least.
>>204886402>Basket Case 1, 2, 3>Evil Dead 1, 2, Army of Darkness, 2013>Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein>Friday the 13th 2, 3, 4>Hatchet 1, 2, 3, Victor Crowley>Jaws 1, 2, 3>Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead>Psycho 1, 2, 3, 4>Re-Animator 1, 2, 3>Terrifier 1, 2, 3
>>204886551Yeah, seeing what happened in the first movie. That's like saying "is there a point to watching evil dead 2 over Army of Darkness?"
>>204886552The 2010s gave us Insidious and The Conjuring franchises. Even some of the spin offs like Anabelle Returns Home was good. I agree the decade was crap in general but that alone makes the decade better than all those awful 90s slashers based on Scream.
>>204886608>No Halloween 1, 2, 3, 4NGMI
>>204886548Not even close
>>204886398The true horror is reality
>>204886190Neither.
>>204886608>Jaws 3 goodlol
>>204886629I enjoy 1, 2, and 4 but not 3
>>204886608>>Friday the 13th 2, 3, 4What? why miss 1? 3 is my least favourite out of the first 4
>>204886190Speak No Evil (2022)
>>204886652thisI can't take horror seriously anymore when you realize how infinitely shittier reality is getting a chronic illness is more torture than some ooga booga jump scare
>>204881462Based Dana Andrews
>>204886673Yeah 1 is OK too, I like all the Friday movies except 2009. I think 2, 3, and 4 are significantly better than 1 though
>>204886659Jaws > Tremors > Jaws 2 >>> Jaws 3 > Jaws: The Revenge > Cruel Jaws >>>> Terrifier
>>204886691Agreed. I mainly like horror for aesthetic reasons. It's not something that scares me, except on very exceptional occasions.
>>204886659Of course Jaws 3 is good, you some kind of dummy?
>>204886190Skip Faggot Games and watch Scream and Leslie Vernon for actual meta kino instead
>>204886551For a long time Evil Dead 2 was my all time favorite movie. It's a 5/5 masterpiece. But The Evil Dead is special, it's just got a different vibe and atmosphere, also a 5/5. Maybe even a 6/5.
>>204885167>inappropriate/unconventional music over this scene An American Werewolf in London sort of did that I can't think of anything else before it
>>204886608I CAN HOLD MY BREATH FOR A LONG TIME
>>204886699You missed Pirahna which is the best jaws imitator
How many horror plots were killed by cell phones and modern tech in general?
>>204886810Wasnt Evil Dead a year before? Monty Python also did it juxtaposing something jovial with something serious making it absurd. Hell i could go back to the Marx brothers in that case.
>>204886624All of the Anabelle movies were garbage. The 90's gave us:>Dead Alive>Cemetery Man>Premutos>Ravenous>Scream>Army of Darkness>Silence of the Lambs>Blade>The Craft>Interview with the Vampire>Misery>Audition>Maniac Cop 2>Bride of Chucky>From Dusk Til Dawn>Night Breed>It>The Faculty>In the Mouth of Madness>Bram Stoker's Dracula>Return of the Living Dead 3>Event Horizon>Frankenhooker>Idle HandsThe 2010's could NEVER. Get to the back of the line where you belong.
>>204886836A lot of times they just solve the problem with a no signal notification.
2000s and 2010s were the worst decades for horror, objectively The 1990s was filled with kino
>>204886936Sign of bad writing.
>>204887006Well you might say the same thing about a car back in the early days of cinema. I can imagine audiences saying gtfo that spooky mansion and drive away. Thats when they came up with the no gas/car wont start cliche
>>204887049True. Horror movies were better before the car was invented.
>>204887049They also both generate far more plots than they destroy. Abandoned highway roadside shelters are such a big thing in the 70s because there were a shit load of them all of a sudden. The new road took the tourists away is the offspring of the new road brought the tourist here. Both are reasons to kill tourists
>>204886810>>204886882So comedies? It’s always supposed to be a comedic/parody element? This movie repeatedly did it, almost constantly- was it supposed to be funny?I’m not laughing.
>>204887137No they wanted to make you this mad
>>204885167I don't know who did it first but Last House on the Left comes to mind, it plays goofy music with the incompetent cops that's tonally dissonant from the serious rape revenge story
New>>204887221>>204887221>>204887221>>204887221>>204887221
>>204887117Interestingly enough, this premise was formed in 1932 with Old Dark House where a group of people driving in the country encounter a storm and stop for refuge at a mansion. I mean its practically Psycho, Texas Chainsaw and the rest. You could probably go back further. Im sure the idea goes back further than that. For all modern invention we havent really created new foundations for horror.
>>204887232> You could probably go back further. Im sure the idea goes back further than that.Books always did everything first
>>204887232>music>slow build of tension through long shots/editing>jump scares
>>204887288Those are accoutrements though. Im talking about the building blocks; the things you add style to.
>>204886908Agreed. Blumhouse/Netflix really shit up the last decade with some of the worst and most generic garbage. All of the stuff I like from the 10's is indie or lesser known.
>>204887562I can't stand the fear street trilogy, It looks so boring and generic
