Jack Torrance leans forward, his unblinking eyes gleaming with an unsteady intensity. "So, uh, welcome to the Overlook. I'm dying to know what brings you two fine gentlemen here." He chuckles darkly, his fingers drumming the table rhythmically. "You ever feel like… you're just itching to let loose? Feel the urge?"

Pinhead sits rigid, perfectly still, exuding an icy calmness. His dark eyes flicker over Jack, and he speaks in a deep, measured tone. "What you call an urge, I call a calling. Pain and pleasure, indivisible... That is what drives me. Do you believe you understand true suffering, Jack?" He tilts his head, curious, almost amused. "Or is yours merely a madness born from weak flesh?"

Freddy Krueger, grinning like a fiend, stretches back, tipping his hat with a clawed finger. "Oh, please, Pinhead. Don't get all philosophical on us. Pain, pleasure, yeah, yeah—I'm here for the nightmares, baby! I don’t need a philosophy; I just need a kid to scare the hell out of!" He looks at Jack. "What about you, Torrance? Ever get tired of chasing after little kids with an axe? Or is that still a good time for you?"

It Follows sequel plot:
Years after the harrowing events of "It Follows," Jay Height, now in her mid-20s, has moved to a small town in Ohio to escape the haunting memories of her encounter with the supernatural entity that relentlessly pursued her. She's attempting to rebuild her life, attending community college and forming new friendships. However, the trauma of her past continues to haunt her as she remains vigilant, always looking over her shoulder, fearful of the entity returning.
Jay remains close with her childhood friend, Kelly, who has also been affected by the events of their youth and is determined to ensure Jay stays safe. However, despite her caution, Jay starts experiencing strange occurrences—unexplainable feelings of dread, bizarre dreams, and visions of people she doesn't recognize. These symptoms intensify, causing her to suspect that the entity may not be done with her after all.
The plot thickens when a newcomer, a charismatic but enigmatic student named Tom, arrives at their college. He befriends Jay and Kelly but harbors secrets of his own. Unbeknownst to them, Tom has his own encounter with the entity, passing it on to Jay through a moment of intimate connection as he becomes infatuated with her. The entity, now manifested in a more cunning and adaptive form, begins to explore the new settings of the town, haunting familiar faces and using mistrust among friends to sow discord.
As the body count starts to rise in eerie and terrifying circumstances, Jay & Kelly, along with other friends, realize they must confront their shared trauma. They embark on a quest to understand the true nature of the curse—discovering its origins in urban legends and diving deep into old folklore surrounding sexual relationships and the transfer of fears. Along the way, they learn that the only way to truly escape the entity is not through isolation, but by confronting their fears head-on and embracing vulnerability.

(continued on another post)
>>
>>205524671
I agree, I've only seen the first one but I found it to be quite underwhelming
>>
>>205524868
As the climax approaches, the friends find themselves ensnared in a twisted game of survival against the entity, which has now taken on multiple forms, embodying people from their pasts, making it increasingly difficult to know who is real and whom they can trust. The group must push through their own fears and traumas to find a way to confront the entity in a final showdown that forces each of them to confront their darkest fears.
In a heart-pounding finale, Jay must choose between saving herself and saving her friends, leading to a dramatic conclusion that tests not only her resolve but her understanding of connection and sacrifice. The film ends on a haunting note, suggesting that while they may have found a way to temporarily escape the curse, the specter of fear and trauma can linger, hinting that some battles may never truly be over.
In the final scene, Jay walks through the now-familiar urban landscape, vigilant but resolved, showcasing her ongoing journey of healing, even as a shadowy figure watches from a distance—reminding us that "It Never Ends."

Terrifier 3 finally toppled under the weight of its flashy yet ponderous low budget approach. I was awfully sorry that it went down like that. 2 was both bloated and cutting, epic and minimalistic. I honestly thought something great would succeed it cause Leone is no fool and is in fact a very talented director. But he desperately needs a scriptwriter.

Neither are gialli. In fact, Argento wrote and directed Suspiria as a deliberate attempt to move away from the giallo format for a while.
I love gialli and other Italian horror. Perhaps you'd enjoy these ones:
Death Laid an Egg
Macabre
Delirium (Foto di Gioia, gialloish but full of surreal sequences/images)

It was a trope reversal in 2 ways: first, cops aren't usually prominent in horror, they're well-meaning but are often victimized as part of horror's cautionary elements against evil; second, it was a black guy
None of that is esoteric but horror neophytes such as you will eventually/hopefully realize these narrative structures are in fact traditional and ongoing: recently, Strange Darling also made good use of it.
>>
>>205529241

They're not. The trope is usually exactly the one shown in Stream: cops appear, are well-meaning but get killed but the movie went 2 steps further by making this more nuanced, drawn out and spiced up the character's twist.
>Absolute nothingburger.
Not at all, particularly at this day and age. You sound unironically uninformed about the amount of ESG racial bias in movies these past 3 years or so and Stream goes full-on against it. Try to recall other recent movies where there were not one, but two black villains

>>
First reply decides which one I rewatch tonight.
>>
>>205531026
There's nothing feminist about it. Women have been horror protagonists since Black Sunday at the very least and nobody calls it a "feminist" movie.
One detail inattentive ppl miss about Oddity is that its plot includes 2 female villains: the annoying new gf and the main character's unseen mother
>>
>>205530723
there were a couple scenes of this i found truly creepy
especially the scene introducing Noriko's online friends, where they're shown in low lighting, mostly just silhouettes visible, that was extra spooky
Sono at one point was talking about closing the series off as a trilogy and he said a few times that he wanted to make an American follow up
but of course none of that ever happened, still, Noriko's Dinner Table is the best prequel+sequel combo I ever did see
>>
>>205530918
Agreed, best horror film for girls
>>
>>205531231
"anecdotal evidence"? this isn't a science fair. people talk about all sorts of gay shit that doesn't make the films good, neither does a wide release.

>>205531077
Caveat reaches a higher high point, mostly just in two scenes particularly, but it feels like the majority of the movie is one guy wandering around alone and silent, Oddity has a lot more going on character wise, that elevates it a hair higher, it also feels a titty-bitty more polished
>>
>>205531397
Anecdotal evidence is how non-retards refer to "you're making shit up out of your limited subjective impressions" such as "most anons seem to prefer Caveat to Oddity"
>>

It is not feminist horror because of the characters exactly but the subtle aspects of the whole movie. If you watch a movie, and it is a feminist horror, or woke, even if a little, and you don't notice within the first 15 minutes, there is nothing to argue. trying to find a movie i saw on tv as a kid in the early 2000s or late 90s, and all i remember is one scene:
>it's winter, theres a couch between 2 windows, people are on the couch, two giant monstrous hands reach through the windows and try to grab them
i think it was a horror anthology movie but ive been looking and none ring a bell. i think the people on the couch were reading a book of stories and this scene happened at the end of the movie during the frame story. it may have been set at christmas but definitely was in winter. i think the hands mightve been abominable snowman hands but they were giant.

Anyone else who tries to post gets very few replies. This general is fucking dead
