Kino?

time to go to bed christcuck, you've gotta get up early and hold hands around the breakfast table in the morning and talk in tongues.
>>
Just put on a Zombie movie

Which one?

A lot of the HK films marked horror I've watched have actually been more like giallos. More horror adjacent, still kino though.

i would like to talk about how In a Violent Nature is literally about the inability of Man to overcome a violent Nature, which is itself nothing less than the everpresent reminder of his eventual, unavoidable demise.
>the the whole reason the killings start is because a careless person takes the necklace (a locket - a symbol of captured history, motionless time - housed in a rotting wooden house), which is symbolic of Man disrupting the stillness of Nature, and the natural progression of time, growth, and entropy
>every kill takes place when the victim is alone in a natural setting and involves a piece of nature, whether that be a tree, a lake, a cliff, etc
>the multitude of shots of silent walking in nature, the only sound being the birds and bugs - the killer is literally the personification of the ever-creeping pursuit of nature, like an invasive vine that doesnt stop climbing until it strangles the tree entirely
>the items of the killer are those of a firefighter - but a firefighter long since passed on. this symbolizes the futility of Man to fight against Natural forces, and his misunderstanding of the machinations of Nature itself. though Man may put out a fire on a building, the building will eventually decay anyway, and in fact fire is a healing force in nature and can be good for the environment.
>since the "fireman" in this case is undead, he serves as a mirror of the human fireman. he doesnt put out the fire but he IS the fire. he burns away so there can be regrowth. those who TAKE from Nature get burned away, and the one who left Nature alone (gave back the necklace) is spared
>and yet the threat of Nature is never fully gone. just because the storm is over, that doesnt mean you are safe from destruction. in time (and the slow procession of the killer is a symbol of this slow procession of time) all will succumb to the eating fire and become feeding ash
>>

I'm glad you liked it so much, but you have to understand why it bored me

It never helps when you make the main character completely unlikable. I think it was meant to be a biological woman, but they made her such an entitled little bitch that was a thief and completely irrational. Then betrays a character that saved her life multiple times

>>
>>205540812
Tomie watcher, have you read all of the comics before?
>>
>>205541104
no I haven't, might sound stupid but I just quite liked the first film so am carrying on. I'm sure the Ito originals are great so I'll get to them eventually.
>>
>>205541153
It's not stupid at all to take films on their own terms without being familiar with the source material.

You can really read through the comics quickly, so it's less of a commitment than watching all of the films. The comics are well worth reading.

The only film I've watched was the last one Tomie Unlimited, years back, I wasn't a fan of it, but I'd made the mistake of watching it with family. I've been meaning to watch the other films and I'll probably get around to it soon.
>>
>>205541411
the names of the films are making me laugh because it's a classic horror meme. "The Final Chapter" but it's not the final film. also "Tomie vs. Tomie".
you know I might actually look into ordering a hard copy of the manga, that'd be an enjoyable way to end it.

>To work around what he saw as the cliche of excessive screaming in horror films, Bernard Rose came up with the idea to have Virginia Madsen hypnotized in the scenes where she confronts Candyman
>According to Todd, this process would occur prior to filming the scenes where he and Madsen interacted and would take roughly ten minutes to prepare.
>This was accomplished through the use of a professional hypnotist who established a key word that Rose would use to put Madsen under a trancelike state.

religious horror gotta be my favorite genre, its always so cheesy and corny, while I have been in seminary and met many priests and nuns its so different. Of course movies are fiction, but its so funny how nuns are portrayed. Every nun I have met is the most completed person ever. Whatever god exist or not, they always so happy and kind. Its rare to find a priest like that tho, nun just to something different.

Is Beezel basely competent? Not really, it doesn't match the tension of assembly line Hollywood horror. But the late 20th century serial killer-type character is really well done. Then, Starry Eyes was directed by a couple of Germans, which explains its nasty social realist presentation and anxious, dreamy content. It's also understated and perhaps undercooked, as Euro movies tend to be.

I'm not sure since in the original, the grandfather was already feeding on blood for some time and Hitchhiker/Nubbins was insane. In the remake prequel they were pretty normal and only turned to cannibalism because of the slaughterhouse closure.

Grandpa was too old to eat solid food, probably had been drinking cow's blood for many years. Nubbins is exactly the kind of guy you find working in a slaughterhouse.

Just found out this gem directed by Timo Tjahjanto dropt a couple weeks ago. It's an action flick, but Tjahjanto's works are total splatterfests.
>Like most Tjahjanto projects, the film features several decapitations and “gallons” of blood. (The director estimated 85% of the blood was practical — like many splatter fans, the man loves squibs.)

>I found Oddity interesting, how would you compare it to Black Cab?
BC is more linear plotwise but also vaguer-- it can go either in a supernatural or rational (so to speak) direction and there's a likelihood that the main character is an unreliable narrator .
The cinematography/atmosphere is superb and gets you there in some increasingly spooky roads and it delivers on the scarejumps too. I say it's a nice unpretentious Sunday night horror watch and the ending will keep you guessing

As the Alucarda shill, someone recommended La Sexoricista/Satánico Pandemonium which I enjoyed. It’s no Alucarda and the writing isn’t Shakespeare, however the lead is a cute tomboy and they bear many similarities including Catholic demonic possession, a great score, cheesy dialogue, nudity, and lesbians. At one point the lead actress even tries molesting a peasant boy and succeeds.

To add a coin to the classic horror term talk, anon pointed out

as in, horror as an umbrella term.
A thriller and Horror are different things. But a thriller can have horror elements and/or be a horror, since subgenres exist like Thriller+Horror.
They are separate things but that doesn't mean that they're mutually exclusive.

Anon is retarded but there has been so much overlapping and mismarketing of thriller/horror movies for years that I can get his thought process.

Aposematism is typical of noxious species. In the human species it stands for evolutionary culs de sac as weirdos confuse attraction and mating with "danger".
As for the movie, the red hair means nothing. It's mostly a chromatic choice that's reflected in the lighting etc and only vaguely suggests that the woman's off: perhaps a stripper or an art hoe but as it turns out a literal serial killer.
