Since there isn't a specific thread currently up, I guess I'll post it here. I think the last act of Smile 2 being "just a hallucination" isn't entirely accurate. If you track the general actions of Skye before the Monstrosity takes over at the tour, it overlaps pretty well with what she'd generally have to do in order to get to the concert (drive/be driven there), enter a room where she's given a change of clothes (hospital gown/foreshadowed concert outfit) and get placed inside the "coffin" on the stage before the tour started (the freezer room). The Monstrosity was basically just 100% gaslighting her senses into doing the things it wanted to do by giving her similar actions to perform inside her own mental space. It doesn't 100% control a person until it reveals itself to crawl inside and "wear their skin" before committing "suicide". Also, some people insist Morris was also a hallucination, but I find that unlikely (at least in their first meeting at the bar). The Monstrosity can only use what it finds inside its victims' heads, it can't completely invent something without a template to base it on. The reason it seems to always overwhelm their willpower after a few days is because it eventually knows you better than you know yourself, at which point it can literally gaslight you with hallucinations into doing whatever it wants.
