Wrong. I am not a waifuposter, and I certainly wouldn't be one for an ugly hag like Farmiga. Asian men belong with Asian women anyway.

No one should trust anything you say if you manage to get something this big wrong. I don’t give a shit about the Asian grift meta that is constantly discussed here and rarely participate in said debate. I do think it’s weird though if someone is white and almost exclusively consuming Asian media like that “what should I watch?” anon.

>The term “sleeping beauty” provides, I think, a fairly good transition to Last Year at Marienbad — or Sleeping Beauty of the International Set, the high-fashion experimental film, the snow job in the ice palace. Here we are, back at the no-fun party with non-people, in what is described to us as an “enormous, luxurious, baroque, lugubrious hotel — where corridors succeed endless corridors.” I can scarcely quote even that much of the thick malted prose without wanting to interject — “Oh, come off it.”...
>But who cares if they met before and who cares what happens to them? Enthusiasts for the film start arguing about whether something happened last year at Marienbad, and this becomes rather more important than what happens on the screen in front of them — which isn’t much. The people we see have no warmth, no humor or pain, no backgrounds or past, no point of contact with living creatures, so who cares about their past or future, or their present? Does it matter if it’s a chess game or a recurring dream game? Resnais dissolves time all right — by destroying any sense of relationship to events or characters. He says he has cut out the “explanatory scenes” and the dialogue whose sole purpose is “to keep the action going” — I think this is exactly what he is giving us: all the mechanics of drama without any drama.

Oh, filtered hard. Robbe-Grillet is using his experimental style of the new novel to unfold the plot. That is all intentional. Notice that the main characters are not even named. What Grillet is doing is he is giving you the tools with which to create your own story inside your head. He is trying to create something lasting, powerful and memorable with minimalist tools.

That’s the problem with 99% of posters here- talking out of their ass with no experience/expertise in the diarrhea that vomits out of their brain damaged minds. I don't think expertise has anything to do with it, except maybe to appreciate how a film was made on a technical level.

Same sort of idea as studying literary criticism. It doesn't enhance your capacity to enjoy literature or be deeply moved by it, it only allows you a sort of standardized diction to express your critique in. Unfortunately that is all too often hijacked for purposes totally separate from what you liked or disliked about a movie, or to discount the critique of somebody that doesn't speak in those terms. It's a sham.

If we wanna get community involvement out of this shit board, we should start small. We pick one movie that everybody watches.

A week later (or maybe just a few days), we make a thread to discuss that movie. Each person taking part does a little write-up, and that opens discussion. The write-up follows a loose outline touching on a few key basic aspects (performances, themes, impactful scenes, visuals, audio, first impression, etc). That gives us stuff to agree or disagree on,

Key is not being a disingenuous faggot, and being open enough to discuss your actual, true feelings about a film. It can be extremely difficult to translate those thoughts and feelings into a 4chan post, so some level of good faith is necessary which might be too much for this board.

I've done similar stuff in /lit/ and it works occasionally, but usually dies out after a few weeks.

I liked this TV series because it reminded me of Studio Ghibli movies. It made me feel like I was transported to Vesta Minor and I was able to totally escape everything happening in my life for 30 minutes . My favorite part or element was when I learned about the tiny secret the planet has in each episode

I liked this movie because Jennifer Connelly was cute in it, and the monkey was pretty funny. The murder scenes were alright but not as good as Suspiria, though it had a much stronger ending than Suspiria. My favorite part was when Jennifer Connelly was abandoned in the Swiss forest only to find a monkey that guided her to the doctor's house. The visuals were much more nuanced than Suspiria, but in my opinion not as strong.

Ratner, possessed by the spirit of F. Capra and using the idea of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", gave us this film starring N. Cage, as a man who has the opportunity to see his life if he had made a different decision. It lacks the fast pace of this type of hollywood christmas movie. Danny Elfman mad ethe soundtrack. It is not a chick flick by any means but a /film/ about real men. I have to give it a rewatch, but it's a 8/10 probably.

I liked this movie because it was super comfy in Korea and detectives are badass. It made me feel like a cool bladerunner detective in moderns citypop land. My favorite scenes were the shots with red in it because red is my favorite color, and the ending because that was insane MEMORIES OF MURDER

Funny you say that, because it's one of my favorite movies. I think what Lynch manages in the first part of the movie is nothing less than a crowning achievement of the medium. There's not a single wasted scene or frame. The representation of a guy that suspects his wife is cheating on him and is totally destroyed by it is pitch perfect, and the framing story with the video tapes blends into those themes beautifully and on multiple different levels. On top of that, the sound and visuals are beyond reproach imo.

The second half is weaker for sure but I still love it, at least until the end, which I admit is weaker than the rest of the movie.

>>206048035
Deep End is amazing too, it's a great depiction of a teenager's sexual awakening that brings me back to middle/high school, and probably one of the best movies of its time as far as what it does visually (sort of like Suspiria).
