The cop keeps looking at the victim's hands and we don't really think much about it and then about halfway he reveals the killer actually carves the insignia on their hands, such a great build up to that. And how he talks about the Jesus statue that got vandalized with blackface and the defaced cross. We sort of imagine it but assume they aren't going to show that. Then at then end when all the shit is going down, it fucking pops out of the ground. The movie is like progressive horror. It's a long slow build towards some great payoffs.

By total coincidence, I just finished it after the description sounded good on AMC. Excellent for what it was. Felt very authentic, more verisimilitude than Blair Witch, would have been better if I watched the BBC and those were broadcasters I knew. I didn't see the ghost in the background of scenes, need to watch it again.
