How do you rate the armor in this?
There were some shockers in game of thrones
Most of it looks accurate for late 1300s through 1400s, either full plate or brigandines on the chest
Some of it is highly stylized, but if you start from a factual basis that can work and there is basis for that - gothic armor, and way back in the classical period the Roman armor.
One gripe I'd raise is the Targaryens armor has the armored skirt strips that so many shows/films seem to like, that would just get tangled in your legs.
And Dunk only seems to be wearing a Maille hauberk, no plate. No protection from blunt trauma or spears. Yet he is wearing a Frog-mouth helm, a German _jousting_ helmet from 1400s! Imagine going to a joust wearing the right sort of helmet but none of the rest of the kit.

Without leg armor they wore the hauberk, or just gambeson, lower. It would be slitted to allow riding a horse, if you're a footman no need in fact it'd be a disadvantage cause now you've got a great big gap for someone to aim for.
As maille became more common men-at-arms began to be able to wear it on their legs, then later plate began to appear - both causing the hem of the maille hauberk to rise up.

This evolved with plate into the Poleaxe, just as the knightly sword evolved into the longsword, a weapon with a variety of heads including hammer, pick, axe, and topped with a spike - it was purpose designed for fighting a man in full plate armor, unfortunately I don't think film or tv has ever depicted this.

Better than Game of Thrones but Dunc's armor is pretty minimum. His armor is like 2 or 3 centuries BEHIND what the Targaryen's are wearing in the trial. He doesn't have a breast plate or anything. But what took me out of this episode was him being stabbed that many times. The wounds that he and others sustained would not be survivable in the middle ages. Keep in mind that warhorses at speed are moving at 20-25 mph, so the impact of a lance applies the kinetic energy of a small car crash essentially. It is called an orle, and it's old use was padding to keep a second, larger helmet in the right position on top of that bascinet.The bascinet helmet was originally as an under-helmet, and you'd wear a great helm over it.
Eventually they stopped wearing a second helmet on top of the bascinet and wore it by itself (I suppose because steel production got better, so they could make strong enough helms out of one layer of metal) and the orle became decorative.

The helmet of the left is a bascinet you'd wear by itself, but I think the helmet on the right he's actually wearing is one you'd need a second helmet with as it opens above the brow too high.

you're right, but jousting as this highly formalized centerpiece of a tournament is a pretty late medieval development, postdating plate armor by a wide margin. No one was doing these style of jousts in chainmail like some Norman Conquest era knight.
My only point is that I find it not credible that Duncan would have thought it a good idea to enter a jousting tournament without at least a breastplate, which given the other gear people are wearing should be something he can easily get.

I stand correct that jousting did take place before plate armor, but all I would say is that Dunk showing up in chainmail without even a breastplate is considerably out of date compared to the full plate getups of the other competitors. His is from the early 1300s (you start to see breastplates in the middle part of that era around the HYW) and other guys are wearing stuff straight out of post-Agincourt France. Greathelm, gorget, and chestplate with chainmail I could easily buy as there's no way Dunk can afford full plate at this time.
