I've been replaying the whole Ace Combat series.I don't think I know of any other series with such a long running string of excellent mainline titles. From Air Combat to 7, every single one is at least good, if not great, and they almost all feel completely unique compared to each other.

In fact, the A-10 is often a trap option due it's low speed and garbage a2a capability. Taking a fighter like the F/A-18 or the F-14 will most likely give you better performance, and you can keep practicing on that mission to get a feel for how fast targets go down (to optimize your shots per target) and your attack approaches.

The entire reason these games became popular in the first place was because some autistic japanese dudes would invade you with scraping spear and make you fear for your life which was extremely innovative for the time (and arguably still is considering there's virtually no 3rd person action RPGs with seamless diegetic multiplayer). Hunting scrubs and being the hunted scrub is what these games are all about. The PvE was always just a fun warmup for the actual game to begin. From is actually returning to their roots with The Duskbloods, and that's a good thing.
