Deltarune yellow, one of the fangames being made by a local anon just got a massive update, completing chapter 2!Lets talk about it, and undertale fanworks. Working on something yourself? Share your progress. Thinking about starting something creative? Why not start now? Please remember to use spoilers for the new content.
So does Kanacole happen in the new chapter or not?
>>736816047does this have spamton
>>736816276Kanacole started all the way back in chapter 1 brother.
>>736816047Weird how some of the first few images I made for these threads were DRY related, despite my positions on DRY being what they are.Anywho, congrats on being faster than Toby when it comes to releasing new content I guess.
>>736816276They have their moments. Nothing “official”.>>736816283Nope. Seems the dev is taking a very different direction. It is interesting at least.
>>736816371Why are the enemies staring at them like that?
>>736816420Honestly I just think it's a shame you haven't even given them a playthrough.if nothing else, I think chapter 1 showed dryanon has a knack for designing fights.I personally I'm here for the other stuff in it too, but from a gameplay perspective, the wanted fights are good.
>>736816476well that sucks, at least he should include Woody, since sherrifs and stuff
>>736816545obviously they are disgusted to see a human kiss a fox
>>736816561>Honestly I just think it's a shame you haven't even given them a playthrough.I know you have good intentions with this, since you enjoy it and want me to enjoy it too, but I'll be frank, me playing DRY would probably be a horrific scenario for everyone involved.First, I just really don't care about the base premise it's going off of, and I usually don't develop high opinions of things I don't care for but am made to sit through anyway.Second, me knowing anything about it past the bare gist of it would allow me to form more complex opinions about it aside from the opinions I have on just the base premise, which would give me the ability to engage in arguments over it.And while I usually don't care enough to do so, I can keep up in an argument about something I don't actually care about if I really want to, especially if it's making other people angry. However much of a shame you think it is that I haven't played DRY, it's nothing compared to what things would be like if I had.
>>736816047Kanako and Cole did this at some point. It's canon, I don't make the rules. Chujin has to cope, and Martlet's totally fine her son did this.https://files.catbox.moe/u41uqz.png
>>736816980do you like sans fan fights
>>736816561Designing fights is hard, so DRY1 anon has all my respect for being able to come up with interesting attack patterns on such a regular basis
astroturf thread
>>736816980I'm not trying to twist your arm here, just talking about the parts of the game that I feel haven't gotten proper credit in these conversations in relation to it. >am made to sit throughhonestly I'd rather people be able to put down games they aren't enjoying rather than force themselves through them. Anyways I enjoy using those images as reaction images in a way. I have the mooch one saved and I feel like there's always going to be a good time to use it, but I never actually do.Speaking of images, I need to convert a bunch of webps I found.
>>736816561Also, while I have no reason to doubt that the game itself is actually good, it's ultimately (by the admission of the dev himself, as stated in multiple posts) done in service of making a KanaClover story, and I dislike that on a such a fundamental level that I simply do not wish to experience any part of it at all.I respect the drive and dedication it takes to make a game over that, but that's a central premise I simply cannot abide, and as such choose not to subject myself to.I mean no disrespect if you like it, or the game, or any associated content, but I choose to refrain from partaking in such things.
>>736817107We know this is canon, cause we all know it was inevitable going to happen sooner or later. You really think Kanako wouldn't seize the opportunity to spend some quality time with Cole?
Say, anyone here have any suggestions/ideas/references for what a suspicious shadowy group of monsters meant to represent a group of nefarious criminals would look like? It's for a thing.
>>736817472I can't really understand that view point, but to each their own.I can appreciate that you don't engage in mudslinging on the topic despite your feelings on the matter though. Anyways I wasn't trying to spin that into a whole conversation. like I said, it was mostly an offhand comment. I really like the attack patterns in some of the fights.Anyways have a Roba.
>>736817780this looks like shit man
>>736817107The real question is how many times did Cole and Kanako do this?
>>736817780Alright, cool.Anywho, I probably won't be too terribly present in this thread, since I have a thing I want to finish working on, and also I haven't slept in 24+ hours, so I'm somewhat lacking in energy.
>>736817629what type of shadow criminal group you're going for? cult? mafia?
>>736817949they never did, togore killed them before they could do anything
>>736817780What if Metroba was a girl
>>736816047Spanish translation when señor
>>736818032Hm, something like a band of delinquents of some kind, but not necessarily on the younger side. Havin' trouble finding the word for it exactly.Doesn't need to be too detailed, I just need something that would make for a good shadowy silhouette that implies a larger group.Cult could work though actually.
>>736818164There was a fanmade one, expect the translations to update next week or so (the russian one already confirmed they will do it by then)Unlike actual DR, DRY's text system is pretty easy to translate>>736818212So either robes or coats. Maybe coats but they are also using shades
>>736817949Probably several times. I'd imagine Kanako would want to get as much quality with Cole as possible.
>>736817629You mean shadow/silhouettes without much form? I think you could add a shadow that represents Mr Sunshine or at least his tail-face thing, thow one or two glowing smiles in the group of shadows too.
>>736818164Best we can do is a Russian translation in two days blyat
imagine how much of a sad faggot you have to be to set your creative inspirations to be an alternative telling to UNDERTALE lmao
>>736818134Impossible!
>>736818318why did you include a picture of yourself.
>>736818259Ah, yeah, I could probably just try and make them look like they're wearing big coats or something, sure.>>736818279Eh, Sunshine's not what I'm going for here.
>>736818003Understandable, I have found some rare robas and birds that I will share one of which is saucy and I may catbox just to be safe.
>>736818395im strangling this dumb furry with the snakes
>>736817629>>736818427I'm trying to think of other ideas for criminal monsters, but Undertale has a severe lack of them, besides the meme version of Mr Sunshine, I guess you could add an spider monster there with multiple arms who's meant to represent someone from Muffet's family
>>736816047these people should be sued
I'd never considered Dalv in a role like this.
>>736818572>spider monster there with multiple armsHm, not a bad idea, but probably not one I can really execute at the moment. And huh, multiple arms?If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were...
>>736818685>If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were...who?
>>736818716Oh, don't worry about it.
it's a beautiful night outside.stars are shining, crickets are chirpingon nights like this, kids like you...should be resting in beds...
>>736817107I'm sure many would agree this is canon. This game is meant to be kanacole focused.
>>736818924is the gameplay good? does it have schizobosses? is the man behind the tree involved?
>>736818508you're so badass... dark reddit doom slayer type shit... im jerking off to your post right now...
>>736818572There's probably more than enough foxes around as it is, but they're tricky and have been used as criminal characters plenty of times before. I had an idea in a fic for a partially mechanical monster made of ropes pulleys and other low tech machinery that can change his body shape to disguise himself or to get into places. I figured naturally someone like that may be inclined to use his powers for crime.

>>736819704NTA, but how much porn does Oldentale have again? It has the least amount of gameplay thus far (but not technically zero), but I'm pretty sure it also doesn't have that much porn compared to the other fangames around here either.
always about porn hmm
>>736819784
>>736819808No none of the fangames are have that much porn actually, there's lewd drawings but few show actual nudity, anyways, Oldentale has 3 images I think, two with Wiki and one with Racter.
>>736819920is there a man that speaks in hands in the fangame by any chance? it takes place decades before UT, right?
>>736820085>decadescenturiesgaster wasn't even born by then yet
>>736819920I think DRY actually has a few, but most if not all of DRY's characters are just slightly modified versions of UTY's characters, so I'll leave it up to you as to whether or not that counts.Naranja looks like it has about five porn images (with another well on the way), and I guess only two of the three OT images really count as porn if we're going off nudity.

You yourself have just become a ritualposter. The only saving grace browsing anything on this fucking website anymore is to have the self awareness to realize this site is long past its prime, and we're just engaging with at most a dozen of the same people who pretend to not see the typing style of other anons in each thread they frequent, because anonymity is the only thing this place has left. >>736825113It should just read the old save file since it is saved in appdata, unless you are using a different machine. And the patch notes do say the old chapter 2 save should be compatible, but it is recommended to start a new one just to see the new stuff (if you have beaten chapter 1, it should just let you select a new chapter when starting a new file).

If you're gonna include Pokémon Clover (a romhack), you should also include Super Mario /v/orld romhacks (there's 3 of them and you can find them here https://longc.at/vhacks.html) and maybe that FNF vs /v/-tan mod2. You're still missing a lot of games (https://made-by-agdg.vercel.app/)3. Why is Snoot game and Wani in two different boards? Both are made by the same guy 4. >>736825762>3. Why is Snoot game and Wani in two different boards? DRY really needs a better indicator of when you can capture an enemy. I keep accidentally defeating bosses when I want to lower their health enough to capture them. I know the non-lethal shot is for lowering their health without killing them, but it does peanuts damage and uses TP, so I avoid using it in order to save up for a lasso, and I don't know when I need to use it.

>>736816047Its really crazy how DRY has become the post UTY fangame with the most content by far, you would think by this point there would be fangames with big teams disputing that title.
>>736827347If you enjoyed the Mario & Luigi games? Probably. It is a bit less hectic and needs you to strategize a bit more.
>>736828463Usually the big team games are suffering with internal drama or waiting for people's schedules to line up, but solo games means you gotta have enough autism to power through all the tasks yourself.

>>736830141>that levelMarathon Infinity does a lot of playing around with the idea of the self, and part of that includes having the protagonist repeatedly hop timelines in order to try and escape the release of an ancient monster sealed inside a star called the W'rkncacnter. The first of these levels is Rise Robot Rise, which takes place in a timeline where the events of the first Marathon game didn't happen, and Cyborg 54 was instead captured by the AI Tycho and the Pfhor, and rebranded as "Conditioned Unit 7", who Tycho plans to use against the AI Durandal.>Racter has to do with it?Oh, nothing really. This is moreso the result of me thinking it would be interesting if Racter's story centered around the idea of escaping a seemingly doomed narrative in the same way that Cyborg 54's story partially does, so that lead me to the idea of Racter doing the same kind of timeline hopping that we see in Marathon Infinity, leading him to an OT-equivalent of Rise Robot Rise, where he still absorbed the human soul like he does normally, but instead of him just having done that, the context is instead that he was captured by the human side of the war and given a human soul with the intent of using him as a vessel so he could become an immensely powerful soldier for the humans under the control of the human soul, like how the Cyborg 54 of that timeline became Conditioned Unit 7 in the Pfhor slave tanks. This is barely even a connection at this point, it's just me rubbing two things I like together even when they have nothing in common.

>>736829953If you played M3, action commands shouldn’t be too difficult. Attacking and defending is all about timing.BF comes in two flavors: regular and hard (toggled by equipping a medal/item). You can play regular mode for the story, but I believe hard mode is the intended difficulty. If you do hard mode, it is generally recommended to learn fiddling with medals early on. From experience, it is easier to customize your party in BF than PM since the medals are more accessible and have more effects.

>>736841613Okay, basically the premise is that apparently Chujin built an extra, undocumented Axis model, that was designed to apprehend people via cartoonish bullying tactics for some fucking reason, and now this Axis model is running around the steamworks causing problems, so Starlo, Martlet, and Ceroba decide to try and find it so they can shut it down, and they end up splitting up, at which point things go about as you'd expect. The whole thing is like a slapstick comedy story, except the guy writing it was beating off to it while he made it.It even had fanart, somehow.Anyway, here you go: https://www.deviantart.com/starrydusk8/art/Undertale-Yellow-Ceroba-s-Trial-by-Wedgies-1175341516Enjoy, I guess.
>>736841732Hey, Bro Strider is my favorite character and is the coolest Homestuck character IMO, so I consider it a compliment to Starlo

>>736841810>>736841804I'm aware, there was a really good writeup on the whole issue. the problem is that by the time part 6 rolled around, Hussie started taking something that was a gag originally, as dead serious family drama. I mean you remember the big talk at the very end of part 6 where it was just everyone in little groups having horrible long winded talks. But even still, assuming Bro was just trying to prepare Dave for the end of the world, I still think Clovers been through enough life and death situations. Oh, say, Oldentale anon, if Cloudflare is no longer fucking you over, do you think you could make that drawing of Reynault you talked about a while back, if you're still willing to do so?I no longer have the concern of getting sidetracked, given how colossally I've been derailed by my current Luzma image.
>>736844032I thought most of the original Snoot team had either left or been kicked out by then due to clashes with Nerd.
>>736844405Abject horror and despair.Especially when I show him the ideas I haven't even gotten around to for him yet.
>>736844296I think he just had an easier time since the entity he was drawing the "cure" from wanted him to do it, and gave him the idea in the first place. Meanwhile Chujin had to fight with the soul every step of the way.Though, in this instance, maybe failure is better.
>>736844461I probably will, but my eye is giving me trouble today. So it'll have to be after that gets better.
>>736844269>but I referenced the Half-Life 2 magnum for the revolver there,Did you reference Demo in Heavy Is Dead?
>>736844576>I think he just had an easier time since the entity he was drawing the "cure" from wanted him to do it, and gave him the idea in the first place.Maybe, but I think he still had some decent scientific experience even aside from that, his overall competence seemed way higher than Chujin's.Man, I wish I could keep talking about Red, but there's almost never justification to do so.I had so many more things to say about him, especially after finishing Nanquest.Sigh.
>>736844269>but I referenced the Half-Life 2 magnum for the revolver there, which I'm not sure anyone has noticed before.Oh yeah, didn't notice that>I generally don't like retreading old ground, even if I have improved, and my feelings on DRY itself have already been stated, so I'm not sure I feel like drawing more stuff of it anytime soon.Yeah that's pretty reasonable I just think it's a really cool piece of art, despite being a parodyMaybe i will redraw it many years later when I myself get really good at art>>736844048Well anon, you just gave me an idea for an RPG game (possibly RPG Maker but idk)I already had a furry cowboy character in my dream game (that will probably never be a thing until 10+ years later and after Half-life 3 is out), so I may start writing concepts on that setting. Definitely gonna copy a lot of things from UTY's Wild East portion of the game since they got so many things right
>>736844629>but my eye is giving me trouble today.Ah, sorry to hear that, I know the feeling.Hope you get better soon, not just for the image or anything.
>>736844481No. There was disinterest in continuing on and some people left due to their own reason, of which included disagreements, but Nerd is often weirdly hyper focused as the make or break of everything. Leader based thinking I guess but hes often lied about a lot when hes not a huge factor in a lot of things.
>>736844658Nah, I just loaded up Gmod and spawned a camera while holding the magnum out and tabbed back in to reference it every once in a while. And I don't remember if anyone pointed it out, or even if I did, but I referenced the Halo: Combat Evolved death pose for the DRY Martlet image [picrel] I was requested to do.
>>736844671>I just think it's a really cool piece of art, despite being a parodyThank you.>Maybe i will redraw it many years later when I myself get really good at artYou're more than welcome to, though it's not out of the question that I may remake it myself if I'm ever feeling charitable and there's some noteworthy occasion relating to it or something.
>>736844663I don't think Chujin is less competent than Red, he just doesn't know as much about soul science as Red does about medicine, likely because unlike Red, he doesn't have a doctorate. Red is a doctor after all. Chujin, for being an amateur who only recently got into his field, is very good at what he does. Keep in mind Chujin's only formal education is in carpentry and architecture, everything else was just a hobby for him until the incident.>Man, I wish I could keep talking about Red, but there's almost never justification to do so.You could always just make a dedicated thread about it. I'm just unsure which board that would belong on. Failing anything else, you could put it on /trash/, since anything goes there and anthro foxes are certainly a common topic there.
>>736828463I mean, I want to make a fangame but I am under no delusion I'll find a team of people that share my weird hang up about really fucking hating the Touhou fandom.
>>736844712I've probably been playing too much vidya. I just finished FEAR and Extraction Point, then went straight into DRY and my eye started hurting from the strain. I just need to rest it for a day or two.
>>736844862>I don't think Chujin is less competent than Red, he just doesn't know as much about soul science as Red does about medicine, likely because unlike Red, he doesn't have a doctorate. Keep in mind Chujin's only formal education is in carpentry and architecture, everything else was just a hobby for him until the incident.Although the contexts are certainly different and gave them different amounts of room to work with, I'd argue that Red displayed a greater amount of sense by not immediately using the cure on himself before he knew exactly what it could do.Chujin didn't have the same kind of access to test subjects, or resources, or the same credibility, but I adhere to a previously used argument that he likely could've gained those things and restored his reputation if he had presented his Axis model along with the captured human soul to Asgore publicly. "Property damage" was a dumb excuse in and out of universe, he totally could've navigated that situation way better than he did.>You could always just make a dedicated thread about it. I'm just unsure which board that would belong on. Failing anything else, you could put it on /trash/, since anything goes there and anthro foxes are certainly a common topic there.Yes, but part of the problem of having read Rubyquest and Nanquest so long after both of those stories were in any way popular is that I am now in a fandom with approximately four people. And one of them's just you, so that doesn't count.Clever move on your part, getting me to read both of those so you could gather information, and then leaving me with a gaping hole where my beating heart once lay over yet another damned fox.And a coyote, I suppose.
>>736844974NTA but are you sure you're getting enough rest?few months back, I played too much Silksong and my fingers started hurting instead of my eyes. Unless you sit close to screen and/or play in the dark, I would recommend going to doctor if things aren't improving
>>736844974>I've probably been playing too much vidya.Ah, fair. My eyes usually just hurt at random intervals I have no real control over, but that's technically just the migraines thing.>I just finished FEAR and Extraction Point>no Perseus MandateGood, good taste.>I just need to rest it for a day or two.Well, I hope it doesn't give you too much trouble until then in any event.
>>736844671>Well anon, you just gave me an idea for an RPG gameTell me moreIn return I'll share that I too have had ideas for a furry cowboy setting. Though I was gonna use it for a novel rather than a game. It was sort of like Trigun meets Solatorobo, but with lower tech. Basically the Earth had some great calamity in ancient history, humanity is extinct, and then anthros evolved and developed on these lush green sky islands. Now the surface is starting to be uncovered, and there's a rush for all the anthro great powers to colonize it and dig up all the ancient treasures buried under it. The MC would be a human who was dug up in archaeological dig, and has unique access to the archaeotech.I even had a whole system thought up for how these low tech pseudo biological mechs would operate.
>>736845129probably not, I routinely don't get enough sleep. I don't expect doctors to be much help though. Most of my issues are just "that's just how it is" issues, and all the doctor does is charge me money for the visit and prescribe something with horrible side effects to treat the symptoms.Really, I think I need to get some prescription glasses, since I think that has a lot to do with the eye strain. So an optometrist would probably be better than a doctor.
>>736845131>no Perseus Mandate>Good, good taste.I haven't played it, I just heard it was bad and skipped it because I wanted to get to DRY.
>>736844048woody better than furry cowboys
>>736845330Yeah, it's bad.The rest of the FEAR series is also kinda bad too, I'm sorry to say.
>>736845065>"Property damage" was a dumb excuse in and out of universe, he totally could've navigated that situation way better than he did.I blame the writers there. What they should've done is made it an act of hubris on his part. Have him actively say that the king is an idiot, and that the soul's power would be wasted on him, just like the other 5 are, and that he knows better what to do with it.>now in a fandom with approximately four people. There was a Save The Princess thread a while ago with a Rubyquest theme that had quite a few Rubyquest fans in it. They're the ones that got me to read it. So there may be more than you think. Worst comes to worst, we can have a decent discussion without cluttering the thread with off topic posts and some other trashgoers will walk in to see what's up.>And a coyote, I suppose.Don't tell me you've fallen for Santiago too now.
>>736845423I'll probably still play PM even if its worse than the main game, since its still FEAR 1 and I like the gameplay of FEAR. FEAR 2 and 3 don't interest me for stylistic reasons. They look too much like generic AAA shooters. Ironic that I actually like FEAR 1's style, considering it itself looks like one of those generic Unity horror games from the 2010s.
>>736845157>Tell me moreWest of Loathing but with furries instead of stickmen... and a proper turn-based battle systemDon't know if I'm gonna include anything supernatural or fantastical since I just got this idea, but I definitely wanna play it straight like the old westerner moviesI may make it set like 150 years before my dream game takes place, but it's a lot easier to work on a fresh new setting and not be worried about limitations Also your setting idea is pretty unique and not something I doEspecially the humanity is extinct part. That is just too grim.
>>736845479>What they should've done is made it an act of hubris on his part. Have him actively say that the king is an idiot, and that the soul's power would be wasted on him, just like the other 5 are, and that he knows better what to do with it.Yeah, that would've been better.I don't have anything else to add to that, that pretty much would've fixed it entirely.God, why are the most glaring problems with this game also the easiest things in the world to fix?Don't answer that, rhetorical question.>Worst comes to worst, we can have a decent discussion without cluttering the thread with off topic posts and some other trashgoers will walk in to see what's up.Ah, sure, sometime.I guess at some point whenever it comes up again in one of the threads, I'll just go and make a trash thread for it and we can contain that in there. It'll have to wait though, I've been awake far too long on far too little sleep and I want this dumb Luzma instant-loss image done.>Don't tell me you've fallen for Santiago too now.You saw me come to his defense against his own writer in that rentry, this isn't new.I like him, what do you want from me.It only occurred to me after we already talked about it, but Santiago is basically just Weaver going "sorry I killed the crazy fox guy you liked so much, I got you another one", and he has a weird amount of parallels to Red despite not being in the same kind of context at all and really having no reason to be so similar to him. But, yeah, fuckin', I guess he grew on me, what can I say.Once I get some good downtime, I think I'll draw some of the various RQ/NQ characters a bit.
>>736845423Nta, but I think FEAR as whole is overrated, at least by the people that played it, FEAR 2 isn't even a worse game compared to 1 either, I never understood FEAR's reputation at all, they all are kinda meh games.
>>736845615>I'll probably still play PM even if its worse than the main game, since its still FEAR 1 and I like the gameplay of FEAR.It's kinda complicated, but Perseus Mandate is like a mediocre fan mod for FEAR, but as an actual commercial product. It really made just about everything about the original FEAR suck, the new weapons don't feel as good or responsive, the enemies have no personality (to the extent of not even making audible noises when shot), and the story is completely meaningless.I guess Steve Blum is in it, if that's enough for you to justify playing it for yourself, but otherwise, you really aren't missing much.
>>736845773Having played it for the first time, I really liked it. Probably because its basically just the best part of Half Life (fighting the marines), but with better AI and bullet time. Half Life is my favorite game, so I'll enjoy anything that's like it. In terms of gameplay, it feels like a better sequel to HL2 than HL2. Not saying its a better game than HL2, just that its a lot more like HL1 than HL2 is.
>>736845305>probably not, I routinely don't get enough sleep.well then you should start getting some sleep>Really, I think I need to get some prescription glassesI got prescription glasses last year and it's been greatI can now see things clearer at distance and able to read road signs better. I mostly wear it whenever I use my computer and in classHighly recommend in getting multiple backup glasses. You never know if your glasses gonna break or get lost, which happened to both of my glasses
>>736845765>"sorry I killed the crazy fox guy you liked so much, I got you another one",That's a really funny way of putting it. Are there any other instances of this media you've seen?>and really having no reason to be so similar to him.I thought he had pretty good reason to be crazy like he was considering the situation he was in. Any similarities can just be explained as coincidence. Out of universe I think "man I wish I did more with that guy" is a fine justification. If you think about it, DRY is basically that, but for the UTY background characters. I know you dislike Kanaclover, but I'm sure you can at least see the merit of retreading something previously unimportant because the author saw some unexplored narrative potential there. > I think I'll draw some of the various RQ/NQ characters a bit.I'd like to see it. And if you think of any fun crossover ideas with UT/DR, you can post them here.
>>736845959Eh, there are games with better gunplay, I didn't like it because I thought it was too reptitive, low weapon variety, low enemy variety too for a sci fi shooter, the visual effects look cool at first but then they clutter the screen blocking your view, bad "horror" segments glued to an action game, it being too easy was a negative too, I'm not a tryhard or anything, but having the ability to heal at any time + bullet time makes every encounter too low risk, I dropped the game halfway through and went back to finish it because "the good parts must be later."The only thing FEAR has going for it is the AI, but in reality this AI is actually some scripted behaviors they programed into each enemy individually, which explains why the AI is so bad in Perseus Mandate. I think I wouldn't have been that harsh on FEAR if its fans didn't try to sell it as the best FPS of all time, and acted as if FEAR 2 was somehow a much worse game.
>>736845967>well then you should start getting some sleepI can't. That's the problem. >Highly recommend in getting multiple backup glasses.I know. I've been using cheapo reading glasses from Amazon for a while, and I already got into the habit of buying multiple pairs because they break so easily.
>>736846250> it was too reptitive, low weapon variety, low enemy variety too for a sci fi shooter,I didn't mind the low enemy variety because the soldiers were really fun to fight. I actually disliked most of its other enemies, like those kamikaze ghosts were lame and so were the drones. Didn't mind the low weapon variety either, since I found myself only using a couple of the guns anyways, even when offered other "better" guns. I agree the levels all look really samey, they look good, but it needed more variety. Extraction Point is a lot better in that respect.>the visual effects look cool at first but then they clutter the screen blocking your viewThe dust clouds got a bit annoying, but eh, it wasn't that bad. I think it would've been great if the dust blinded enemies too.>bad "horror" segments glued to an action gamethe ghost was lame, but the atmospheric segments between combat encounters are pretty good. And again, Extraction Point is much better in this regard, since the spooky ghost segments can actually kill you.> it being too easy was a negative tooWhat difficulty did you play on? I had a pretty decent challenge from normal, and found hard mode to be frustrating.
>>736846223>Are there any other instances of this media you've seen?Sorta, but probably not in anything you'd be immediately familiar with. The first instances that come to mind would be the Alpha and Epsilon in Red vs. Blue, along with the first iteration of Tex and the Epsilon fragment's version of her. I know those technically had more in-depth reasons for why they were the way they were, but past a certain point it does kinda feel like them saying "okay, we regret killing those characters, so here's new versions of them that aren't technically them but we're still going to treat them like they are anyway".The only other example that I have on hand would be from Homestuck, but Homestuck does that so many time I couldn't list them all here if I tried.>Any similarities can just be explained as coincidence. Out of universe I think "man I wish I did more with that guy" is a fine justification.I know, and I'm definitely not complaining, I'll take as many of this kinda guy as Weaver feels like giving me, but it just feels a little strange, the extent to which Red seems to haunt Nanquest's narrative, despite literally not being a character in it. Though I guess the narrator did directly mention him once, kinda, but that doesn't count.>I know you dislike Kanaclover, but I'm sure you can at least see the merit of retreading something previously unimportant because the author saw some unexplored narrative potential there. I do have things to say about this, but I'm tired so, I guess you'll just have to hit me with this one later when I have the time and energy to say things about it.>I'd like to see it. And if you think of any fun crossover ideas with UT/DR, you can post them here.I don't think you'd like to see most of what I have in mind, in general even, but if I have any relevant crossover ideas, I'll be sure to fling them your way.
>>736846548>. Though I guess the narrator did directly mention him once, kinda, but that doesn't count.Where?>I don't think you'd like to see most of what I have in mindYou sure do draw a lot of porn.
>>736846669>Where?Towards the very beginning, in the first part, the narrator responds to some of the anons talking about Red (after the narrator had referred to the place Nan had woken up in as the Glen, of course), by stating that Nan doesn't know anyone named Red.That's a mention, that counts, technically, even if not in the way most other characters are referred to.>You sure do draw a lot of porn.I have lots of pornographic thoughts, if you can believe that. That's not to say I don't have SFW ideas, I drew all those Racter and Reynault shitposts, but those are usually smaller-scale images or just lower on the priority stack.I think I have some ideas for things you might like, and a few ideas I think you won't be able to make heads or tails of, but I'll get to those eventually.
>>736846836>I have lots of pornographic thoughts, if you can believe that.I do too, I just don't draw that much of them.
>>736846941...How many of them do you draw?I don't think I've ever seen anything like that from you, though I guess that would make sense if none of it happens to be UTDR or fangame related.
>>736846540I can forgive low enemy variety in other fps since there's not much you can do with regular humans without things getting goofy, but I expected more from FEAR being a sci fi setting with paranormal elements, as for the weapons, I just don't like using a single gun for 90% of a game, all the stuff you get latter feels weaker than the shotgun from the start (with the exception of that cannon thing you get near the end), it all made the game feel repetitive.>the ghost was lame, but the atmospheric segments between combat encounters are pretty good. And again, Extraction Point is much better in this regard, since the spooky ghost segments can actually kill you.I didn't even enjoy the atmosphere because I knew it was all leading to another lame walking simulatir segment, can't speak on the expansions, I skipped them, I thought both of them were poorly reviewed, but apparently that was only Perseus Mandate.>What difficulty did you play on? I had a pretty decent challenge from normal, and found hard mode to be frustrating.I was playing on hard, and I'm not sure why I picked that difficulty I usually always play on normal no matter how hard or easy the game might look, besides one moment where I ran out of medkkts I don't remember having difficulty with the encounters, the bullet time is just that overpowered.Again I think FEAR is like a 6/10 game at best, why it gets praised as one of the best fps of all time even to this day is an enigma to me.
>>736816047>oh neat, game made by /v, the guys who can find something negative in the best games out there>developed in ms paintEvery time.
>>736816276the entire game is kanacole/kanaclover shipping bait. who else would cole get with fucking SADIE?
>>736847064It was actually developed in Godot :^)
>>736847070If I had to guess that anon probably meant if Kanako and Cole kiss or something in the new chapter.
>>736846986Not many, usually just rough sketches for my own gratification, and I never post them.
>>736816276Yeah it does. This happens between chapters with Kanako and Cole.>>736817107
>>736847202Eh, fair.I mostly make what I make for my own "gratification" too, I just like the validation I get when my tastes occasionally happen to overlap with someone else's especially on here.Which, most of the time, isn't the case, but that's kind of a given with tastes as specific as my own.I would very genuinely surprised if anyone here has gotten off to my work, though I would also be very flattered.

>>736847058>I just don't like using a single gun for 90% of a gameThe other guns are still there, you know. I think the game wants you to pick and choose weapons, since it limits you to three at a time and is constantly offering you different ones to pick up.>all the stuff you get latter feels weaker than the shotgun from the startThe shotgun is strong, but it has its limits. The plasma gun is a must have for long range engagements and is great for dealing with tougher enemies, plus it turning people into skeletons is hilarious. The pistols are great when used in bullet time, because they do excellent headshot damage and are very accurate. The Tavor (scoped rifle) is pretty good too. Personally I thought the cannon was lame, same for the nail gun people like to hype up so much. And I really liked the SMG, enough to hold on to it for the entirety of the game, even during the segments where it refused to give me ammo for it. >I didn't even enjoy the atmosphere because I knew it was all leading to another lame walking simulatir segmenBy atmosphere, I meant the quiet segments between the gun battles. Those always made me paranoid, because they usually ended with me bumbling into a room full of soldiers. Made me sneak around and cautiously clear rooms like I was an actual soldier clearing a building.>I was playing on hardYou might just be too good at video games. Though there is extreme difficulty, which I've heard is hard enough to be considered a miserable experience by most players, so maybe that'd be more your speed.
>>736847295I don't even save most of the porn I draw, which is already very little. Maybe I'm just less of a sex pest than you.
>>736847557Harsh, but yes, probably.Though it's not as if drawing porn is all I do or think about, it's just a hobby of mine.I've got a few SFW ideas on the backburner that I fully intend to return to once I have the time, namely to finish off that one bit once and for all, I'm just focusing on NSFW right now because I've been very tired and overworked lately and drawing the fire monster lady getting "brutally tickled" is a good means of stress relief.
>>736847486>The other guns are still there, you know. I know, but its the game's job to encourage the player to use different guns, most encounters can be cleared with the use of the shotgun, the only other 2 guns I used were the sniper rifle and the nail gun.>I think the game wants you to pick and choose weapons, since it limits you to three at a time and is constantly offering you different ones to pick up.If a game gives me one really strong option and several weaker ones with much less use cases, then I won't be using them, the shotgun never seems to run out of ammo too, so there is not much reason to change it, unlike with some of the other weapons.>By atmosphere, I meant the quiet segments between the gun battles.I was talking about those too, if you aren't in an combat you are usually near another horror segment.>You might just be too good at video games. Though there is extreme difficulty.I'm decent at best, I just had an easy time with FEAR, maybe because I always play really aggressively and the bullet time, the shotgun and the slide makes that play style really powerful, I got my ass kicked playing TREPANG2 on normal, and that game is literally FEAR but with less atmosphere and a much faster pace.>which I've heard is hard enough to be considered a miserable experience by most players, so maybe that'd be more your speed.I don't like it when a hard mode only increases the enemies damage, it usually turns into a poor experience like you said, Ninja Gaiden 4 has a great very hard mode that actually changes the enemy distribution through the entire game, but it cranks up the enemy damage so much it makes most of the encounters feel frustrating when they could have been good.
>play the game>Saddie comes from the lost & found closet>Saddie is also the last person who saw Chujin and gave him the toaster>threads upon threads of knightposting rewired my brain to disregard the obvious outlaw candidateThe Outlaw has to be Martlet with dissociation.
>>736848669is that the Rory Nite replacement? If so it will be Papyrus
>>736848784Papyrus is already the Roaring Fraud, silly, he can't also be the Outlaw.
>>736848865Toby will never acknowledge him, but he will be revealed to be the Outlaw and uty fans will get really mad
>>736848402>but its the game's job to encourage the player to use different gun>If a game gives me one really strong option and several weaker ones with much less use cases, then I won't be using them,I think this may just be a difference in taste. I really like when games give the player choice like that. Forcing them to use a certain weapon or to quit using a certain weapon always annoy me. Like HL2 putting such a strict ammo cap on the revolver and the explosives to make me use the guns outside of scripted explosives scenes. I loved being able to just keep the shotgun in my back pocket for the entirety of the game. Similarly, I hate gating to prevent back tracking, and love how little FEAR does that. Most of the time, if I take damage, I really can backtrack all the way back to the start of the level to get that healthpack I left behind or maybe to grab that rocket launcher I passed up if I see a tough enemy.I do think they went a bit overboard on the shotgun though. They really didn't need to give it that high ammo cap and have ammo be literally everywhere. I feel like the high cap would have been enough. It'd encourage judicious use while still letting the player spam it if he wants to , at the cost of not being able to use it later. >if you aren't in an combat you are usually near another horror segment.I went through those worried about enemies more than the actual horror. Like the parts in the office with the ninjas, those had good tension. Or in the expansion with the ghost enemies.>I don't like it when a hard mode only increases the enemies damageI do like that, so I guess its just another difference of taste. What I hate is a hard mode that increases enemy HP or decreases player weapon damage. I find it forces me to play better if I'm not allowed to take much damage before dying. You may be onto something about playing aggressively. I play very defensively, so that might be why I had more fun with the game.
>>736848669It might be Saddie, yes. The game seemingly encourages this conjucture since she's present before each Dark World apparitions and her home section was suspicious. Then again, Outlaw discussion falls into the same problem as Knight ones - what's the goal of liberating criminals and risking the end of the world? What's the motive?

>>736849272it's funny
>>736849334Oh god.Alright, very quick, very simplified explanation, the Patriots were the shadowy AI government controlling basically everything in MGS2, but they weren't set up in such a way that the idea of actually figuring out who they were and taking them down was ever really on the table, so by the time MGS4 came around and positioned the Patriots as the main antagonists of the story, it also had to come up with an explanation as to who the Patriots actually were before they were AI, and the answer was basically every single character of note who wasn't dead by the end of MGS3, which was fucking stupid for a variety of reasons.Basically, the problem here is that we have a main antagonist with a large part of their story centering around who they actually are, and if they don't nail the landing on that shit's completely fucked and the story's gonna fall apart.

>>736849031>I think this may just be a difference in tasteWell, yeah it might be a difference in taste, freedom is good, but I prefer when there is a good reason to use a different tool outside of "I like this one more", its why I've never been a big fan of DMC, I agree that forcing players to use a specific weapon is bad design, the DOOM ETERNAL DLCs had this problem of adding enemies that can only be damaged with specific guns, which feels like an artificial way to justify the existence of said weapons (since they were among the weakest in the base game). >Like HL2 putting such a strict ammo cap on the revolver and the explosives to make me use the guns outside of scripted explosives scenes. The problem is that the shotgun is the strongest weapon in the game and it has a lot of ammo, if the other weapons were stronger or the shotgun didn't have as much ammo this wouldn't be a problem.>Similarly, I hate gating to prevent back trackingEh, that's not something I notice in most fps, I dislike backtracking so its neither a plus nor a negative for me.>I do think they went a bit overboard on the shotgun though.I agree on that.>I went through those worried about enemies more than the actual horror.I don't remember being caught too much by surprise, I hardly get immersed in a game's atmosphere so its not something I have a strong opinion on.>I do like that, I find it forces me to play better if I'm not allowed to take much damage before dying.Well, I'm fine with increasing enemy damage but I expect something more, and it really becomes a problem when the damage is so high even the shittiest enemies can two shot you.>You may be onto something about playing aggressively.Yeah fair enough, but to me, FEAR mechanics feel like they were made with the intention of playing very aggressively, even being able to store and use the medkits mid fight feels like it was made with the intention of giving the player more room for error when you are charging at the enemies.

The update was nice. Decent length too; I was expecting it to end around the Upstairs, but it kept going. The storylines to reach the secondary criminals were cool too. It's still a bit hard to get a feel of Cole's idendity besides "optimistic helpful kid next-door" but Kanako got more fleshed out, since this Dark World was more personal. Notably, she doesn't like the whimsy of the Dark Worlds in general and seems to have anger issues behind the nice persona. She bounced off the NPCs better this time, perhaps because she had Axis and Chujin with her.Melody got emphasized by the game. I'm guessing she'll be playable in the distant Day 3.I've sought the two mentioned Dark Worlds, since the Jail and Robotopia/Upstairs aren't the outliers. The "dark" always become visible when you're nearing the room, so we can shrink the suspects thanks to what we don't have access. Which are Starlo's house, Sadie's second floor, and the house neighbooring your own. The first candidate is the most likely - the Feisty Gang is older here, but North Star would be prime Dark World material and relates to both protagonists. Then you have Sadie's house, where the UI shift to a partial Dark World one, Kanako notices it feels like one, and the basement's sequence mirror the original Closet/Anontown.The strange house is plot relevant, but it might be for something else.Anyways good game. I had fun.
