And Tails was supposed to be reaching that point in Sonic Adventure. But after Sonic Heroes or Unleashed, status quo kicked in and Tails regressed more and more with each passing game until Frontiers course-corrected him and reaffirmed his SA1 arc as his current status quo. He has the potential to raise to new heights, so he wants to break out of Sonic's shadow and be his own man in order to realize that.
