I underestimated Pikachu Ex.When I compared its power level to Starmie Ex, I didn't consider that Pikachu's scalable damage means you can sometimes play mind games with it. I just won a match where I made my opponent think he was safe by not putting the basics from my hand into my bench so he didn't switch out his ex, then I put them on my bench next turn, switched in Pika and won. There's actually been quite a few instances already where I made it seem like I was making desperate plays only to win after the enemy thinks they got it in the bag.

The only Mew synergies i can think of are red card shenanigans and Persian abuse but I really don't see the value in it. If fighting/Dragon decks were more oppressive or if there were more Support cards based on discarding I'd use it but it's currently a fun display piece and not much else.

I've been testing Pikachu EX since I've been told it's this game's aggro deck, but it's honestly too slow for an "aggro" deck for my taste. It feels like a midrange deck, since you have Raichu/Zapdos EX as a fallback when the game goes late, so conceding early is a waste.Starmie EX feels more like a standard aggro deck. It is faster to setup and it wins fast or loses fast, so you can get to the next match quicker.2 Staryu/2 Starmie EX/1 Articuno EX is the perfect ratio from my testing, since you can always guarantee 3 basics(1 on your first turn, and 2 with the PokeBall).I was playing with a 2nd Articuno before, but in almost every game, it doesn't get enough energy to do anything if Misty fails. Charging 2 Articunos without Misty will take 6 turns minimum, at that point, Mewtwo EX and Zard EX will already be set up so it's not like it can do anything.Pika EX decks are the worst matchups, but the rest are pretty easy.

It can come out the gates swinging and regularly starts dealing 90 damage very early. Most of the time it's going to be aggro and depending on how you build the deck it can very easily transition into a midrange deck. This is one of Pikachu's strengths. Starmie by comparison is an evolution and as such there is no easy way to guarantee that you can actually make use of it's 2 energy 90 damage early. And with Articuno you get a 2 energy attack and 3 energy attack, Articuno almost requires Misty to be useful. Yes, Starmie has Staryu as a 1 energy attacker but at 50 HP it's very frail and generally not something you want to risk. Misty can certainly facilitate an aggro start but that is in no way as reliable as Pikachu's aggro starts. Starmie is not an aggro deck, not like Pikachu is. And it lacks the sheer versatility that Pikachu currently has.
