Never played the old Tomb Raider games, is this the best way to play them nowadays?I'm wary of remasters but people seem to really like this one.
>>12251778You wanna talk about ps2 graphics? Tomb Raider 4's Level Editor lets people do goofy shit like importing the Angel of Darkness Lara into the game.
Just how okay are the pistols if I don't find the other weapons in the first 5 games
>>12257157you can beat the game with only pistols pretty easily as long as you find med packs
>>12255962You're underestimating the emotion engine.
>>12247903the remasters are good chud
Isn't it weird how Jigglypuff was shilled a lot back in gen 1 as the Pikachu for girls? It's not even that important in Pokemon Red and Blue, not a single named npc uses one, you can easily miss it, Clefairy a few steps north is a direct upgrade and yet it got a recurring appearance in the anime, got into fucking smash (pretty underserved)Eevee in contrast has actually become the "Pikachu for girls" without any first installment weridness shilling necessary, just by pure merit of its design.
>>12253120Jigglypuff is chad only
>>12253120Yeah eevee is pikachu for girls like your rival
>>12257394Eevee is more sexually attractive
>>12256572it's some guy who genbaited on /vp/ against gen 2for some reason he really hates gen 2
>>12256572>>12257853It’s yawnfag. Call him a try hard he hates tha shit
I can't believe how dumb Capcom is, they killed it
Mega Man just ain’t as lucrative as Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and Resident Evil.
OG and X are too old, nobody cares about these characters because they haven't been relevant in 30 years, and they suffer from success because too many indie platformers have ripped them off and done it better.Battle Network was never good, it just convinced a bunch of kids that it was with "cool" character designs and collect-'em-all mechanics. Even the indie games that tried to rip off the battle system were unsuccessful.Zero is pretty much done, the games were never great and there are simply too many 2D action indie side-scrollers for it to compete.Ironically Legends could be huge if they made a big action-RPG with the classic cel-shading which is so in right now. But they would have to remake the first two games and revive Legends 3 which will never happen.
>DOS-Mega Man
Nah it just ran its course
Turns out people don't mind less games that are higher quality instead of literal hundreds of churned out slop
What I love about Super Mario World is that it provides more room for voluntary challenges rather than requiring that you complete the game a certain way. For example, it has been suggested the cape feather is overpowered, though much of the game is designed around providing opportunities for the cape to make things easier. Instead, one can opt to use the arguably less common fireflower, which while powerful, has different mechanics that offer a fresh way to play through the levels. If anything, it can be a challenge just to keep the flower without losing or overwriting it. I much prefer open, organic modes of play like this to mandatory "here's the rules for this segment, complete it to check of a box saying you cleared the content".
>>12256796My daughter would agree with you on both points anon. That's not an insult, she just also likes toad and SMB2

The thinking man's Super Metroid.
Its still in my backlog. Is it long?
The bot is broken again
>>12257531> the thinking man'sWhat is this retarded meme anyway ?
>>12257563Long and hard
>>12257563Yeah, it's decently long. Took me 18 hours to go through on Normal, although I spent a long while trying to get to grips with the controls but once they clicked it was great. Honestly one of the best games I've ever played, OP might be shitposting but it's similar to Super Metroid but in 3D.
Why don't companies release / finish old cancelled games more often?I absolutely understand that it's much easier said than done, along with the original developers having likely moved on, but there are so many promising games that were essentially done, but were victims of circumstance.I just find it weird that we have retro-inspired indies becoming mainstream, endless feux-retro nostalgia merchandising, HD Collections, yet we rarely see many true post-lifetime releases.
>>12255631read thishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honne_and_tatemaeUnfinished projects have very complicated relationships for these companies, and might involve contacting old developers to understand how to finish the work. If the developer left under acrimonious terms (more common in Japan than you think) then the people in charge at the company will be very reluctant to get back in contact with them and ask them for a favor. But on the other hand if the *don't* do this it could also be considered somewhat dishonorable. So it's a matter that is best just to be avoided and forgotten.
>>12255957Back in the day you didn't have digital releases so there would be significant upfront costs in manufacturing the games, shipping them to stores and you also needed a marketing budget. On top of that, the market was smaller and there was only room for so many games in any release schedule.
>>12255631Not enough Assembly programmers for hire in this day and age.
>>12255957>It's pretty surprising though that they released the english Mother and Starfox 2 at allThose two were 100% complete so it required ZERO effort to release. If they were only 99% done Nintendo wouldn't have bothered.
>>12255970Yeah but im talking now/the past 20 or so years. Splatterworld was apparently in Namco's possession this entire time complete, they could have thrown it into any Namco Museum or eShop type service whenever they wanted too and now they lose out on easy money with it being leaked for free. Though technically released, it was cool that the one Tetris Sega Ages release in ps2 included the Mega Drive version of the game. We need more of that. On the other hand, Nintendo had multiple opportunities to re release Nintendo World Championship 1990, but i guess paying for the rights for Rad Racer and their version of Tetris is too pricey for them, so they rather keep parading around the NWC brand without ever releasing the actual game everyone knows it for.

Describe the DMD experience. I always play on normal.
>>12254073Pure gayness
>>12254073Annoying.If you dont kill enemies fast enough they turn purple and become damage sponges. But Vergil is impossible on DMD. Never finished because of him.You also need a lot of health or revival stones for the boss rush.DMD on DMC is very manageable.
>>12254851IIRC enemies also go DT in DMC3 when you kill other enemies near them so using the devil trigger explosion mechanic lets you kill multiple at a time or severely weaken them before they enter DT so they have low HP% and the increased mitigation and hitstun immunity from DT doesn't matter much since you're taking most or all of them out very quickly afterwards.
One thing other people didn't say yet - some enemies change tactics. Do you remember the Enigmas, those white statues that fire a blue lance and sometimes a red one? Well, on DMD they will skid along the ground like they're on fire, and they'll always fire a ton of lances at once, usually with a red one right at the end.
Game's shit normalfag garbage that only exists to clap at the epin cutscenes and mash in bloody palace.Play DMC1's DMD New Game. No saves. Under 1 hour.

no mascots mean they didn't have shit. Sony didn't have any meaningful ones either (crash and Spyro aren't even close to Mario & Sonic) but they were a lot of people first disc based game system and a lot of peoples first DVD players in their entire houseAtari's shitty consoles could barely make squares and shit on screen. the 5400 couldn't even fill in the squares in Qix in real time it was such a piece of shit. their computers were shittier versions of what was around like the Commodore 64by the time consoles and actual home computing matter which was the 90s, they were already riding on their pac man galaga bullshit they everybody plays for 3 minutes and quits. they never developed anything worth playing for more than 3 minutes

The first 1st-party NES game not released under the black box line. They were clearly proud of it.
there was a thread about cart terminology but it was deleted for e-celeb in the the OP just wanted to mention that I was looking through the manual for Metal Gear and it refers to the cart as a cassette
>>12254689Like I said in that other thread, that seems perfectly fine since "cassette" just means "little box" or something.

Poor Woody, he didn't got a game nearly as good as Mickey or Bugs' best offerings.
Why the fuck did they make 5 of these. Were people actually into this franchise
I dont think people care about Woody in general.I know Brazil loves their Pica Pau but I don't know if he's popular in other countries, shame because he has some really funny cartoons.
