I had just looked it up. Nothing I said was incorrect. Nelvana is a Canadian company; the "major" edits, such as "making Li-kun the protagonist" by skipping ahead, were exclusive to the American market, specifically for Kids WB. CN and them did not finish the show, but all of the episodes were dubbed. That's not the same as, say, a 4Kids dub, which outright has missing episodes.

>people have nostalgia for a thing they've seen a billion years ago
This image is dumb as fuck. There are plenty of anime people watched in the past that they probably never rewatched in Japanese so they remain ignorant of any changes. If you were trying to point out hypocrisy in people's thinking you did a bad job.

>muh Frankfurt
Destroyed after WWII, re-created by Dr Money in American universities. Current troon ideology and literature doesn't come from Frankfurt School, it comes directly from Money's work.

The concepts of gender and sexuality being social constructs that are used in all of medicine and social sciences today comes from Money as well.
>feminism
Buveaur was the precursor to modern feminism, but modern feminism was gestated entirely in American academia and denounces Beauvoir as a bigot.
>niggers in France
Current black worship and the insistence on retarded shit like reparations all come from America.

Other shit like intersectionality and critical race theory (the basis for the entirety of the modern woke movement) are theories created entirely in American academia and sold to the world through American propaganda (Californian movies and TV series, American social media.)

I won't even mention rap and hip-hop and the negrification of music thanks to America.
>le terminally online
Another phenomenon created by American social media.

Thinking about it, Kasei Meikō end is even more tailored to him than I had imagined.

He spent his entire life hiding his identity to other, even his daughter in some way.
Meaning he would talk to absolutely no one with his true voice or identity.
The only identity anyone knew of him was either as emperor, or as the divine swarm leader.

Then suddenly he is cast away in a unknown country
- he can't hide
- no one will ever know him by any other identity
- he has to talk to people himself

What was your reaction when reading through a manga and suddenly came to an abrupt end? Consumed by rage? Filled with confusion? Drown in disbelief and denial? Perhaps, plagued with uncontrollable laughter at the absurdity.

Nevertheless, come. Relive, share with others, or experience for yourself the first time some of these short lived (maybe justifiably so) creations.
Make valuable lessons be learnt. And never forget, the true ending was the friends we read questionably sourced Japanese cartoon drawings on a handicraft forum with along the way.

Higher academia is truly the time a man first develop his tastes.

>Our main character, a college student named Haru, has some..."interesting" tastes. However, all he wants is to be left alone to enjoy the things he likes in peace and quiet. Unfortunately, were he to get his way we wouldn't have much of a story on our hands, would we?
>One day a friend of his sees the contents of a certain book Haru has... a book containing some pictures relevant to Haru's "interests..." and, due to a misunderstanding, throws it out the window! What are the contents of the book? Where did the book land? You'll find out when Haru goes to get it back.
>Of course it won't be easy, and he might even have a life changing encounter along the way (all thanks to that very same book.)

It's hard to say how much of this is due to the translation, but reading this, it's incredible how much of the core of the story is manga-original. Possibly the best example is that in the novel, the reason why Mie kills herself at the end of the duel in the tournament is because she's still in love with Irako and not because she's disgusted at seeing Gennosuke act as a mere puppet. The manga added all of the emotional and thematic depth to what seems to have originally been just a collection of tales of samurai love triangles.
>>284827583
Also, apparently Chika was just a normal girl in the novel too. The manga seems to have added the entire subplot about her unique condition.

>>284827583
>fights the snake tongue piercing spear guy and gets stomped and then kills Chika

Norio Nanjo's oeuvre seems honestly very good. Real shame his books are never gonna be translated and that most of the 30+ TV/movie adaptations of his work are essentially lost media at this point. I don’t think the man has ever written a happy story in his entire life, though.

>profound themes
It's just a severly depressed guy pouring all of his emotions into a show and expressing his mental state in it. If you judge Eva as a conventional anime it's actually not that good and has a ton of issues in a lot of aspects. It just comes down to you being able to relate with it. If you do it's one of the best things ever, otherwise it's a confusing mess that tries too hard to be deep and intellectual and all of its fans insisting it's you who's just unable to get it will only make you hate it more. There's nothing more to it. Everyone should watch it at some point, during which they will likely not get it at all, and then come back to it when they're in a terrible mental state (the kind that's more than just temporary sadness).
>>
>>284829537
>a ton of issues in a lot of aspects

If you watched it expecting a normal mecha show than many of the plotlines not really getting resolved, so much stuff happening without a clear explanation and how the last two episodes can feel totally unrelated to most of everything else will feel confusing. I mean, you obviously know what a first time watcher getting into the show might find fault with. The show doesn't do a great job explaining much of the lore or giving the story a satisfying ending in a way expected of a story that starts as giant robots fighting angels (if you get it the ending is very satisfying, but if you don't, none of it makes any sense and you're left to check if there is another episode to explain what just happened). Yes, if you check out more eva media you will eventually get a much better picture of the world, the timeline and all those things the anime doesn't go much into, but if you just watch the original 26 episodes (especially if they don't contain 21'-24') you will almost certainly be confused about a ton of stuff. I know that all of these things are secondary and that what makes the show great doesn't necessitate you to have a complete understanding of these elements that seems pretty unimportant compared the things it makes you feel, but, if you can't connect with it at all, those things also being unresolved will only add to you feeling like you don't get it at all.
>>
>>284830157
i agree and i think i misunderstood what you meant originally
>>
>>284830157
Some questions I remember having watching the show for the first time were things like what is the first impact? What exactly happened during the second? What do they mean by lilith/the black moon and adam/the white moon? What's up with the angels? Why did they stop giving the angels names at some point? What are the conditions for becoming an eva pilot? What exactly is Seele? What's up with the dead sea scrolls? The whole plotline with Kaji felt confusing, from what I can remember watching it for the first time years ago. There are so many unresolved things I didn't even bother listing. I literally just thought of the first things that came to mind and the list of questions I remember having was even longer (to the point that I kind of gave up understanding most of it when I watched the show as a kid for the first time).
