>critically acclaimed, award winner series
>season 3 debuts in three days
>setting and characters lend themselves really well to merchandise
>not a single piece of official merch, even though a spear and fang plush appeared at adult swim fest a couple years back and never again
>if you want anything it has to be an overly expensive custom
Seriously, action figures or plushies of these two would sell like hotcakes. Given what happens to these two I wouldn’t doubt people wanting to hug them as they watch the show.

"critical acclaim" is fake circle jerking. The show didnt really get many views and it continued to lose them steadily. Then the animation is cheap, full of still shots to pad the runtime, and overall boring.
The network is okay burning 10M to make this garbage, better than paying them in taxes, but it's not going to spend easily more than that making merch that nobody is going to buy.

Great design, deliciously insane, and he reveled in being a total bitch.

Post your honest opinions on The Sandman comic by Neil Gaiman.

a very mediocre comic, which is only praised by people who think that the best possible comic is a lesser kind of illustrated novel. half of the page is text boxes filled with YA prose, and the rest is ghastly art from a random (and constantly changing) vertigo hack. Its a comic for those who have no appreciation for panelling, linework, colour, sequencing (the language of comic books), and can only imagine comics that aspire to be bad novels.
>>
An overrated series with shitty artwork.
>>
>>152056747
I don't remember that. Examples?
>>
>>152052366
It peaks at Season of Mists, and, while I do like a lot of the art, it is sometimes ruined by being far wordier than it needs to be.

When I was in highschool there was an older junkie dude called Grimace who worked at 7-11, he gave the first few issues of Sandman. One of the only people who was nice to me in those days. Sandman is a good memory for me

>Experience the Pepsi-fueled misadventures of Bleu L. Finnegan, comics’ favorite blue-haired, Buster Keaton-obsessed, Adam Ant-worshipping teenager from the very beginning! Featuring an introduction from Kieron Gillen (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE), learn why this highly influential and critically-acclaimed comedy series has often been compared to the comics work of Rumiko Takahashi and the John Hughes/Molly Ringwald film collaborations of the 1980s.

Probably paid better as well kind of like why Battle Chasers enters long hiatus' because Joe Mad got busy doing video game magazine covers or vidya itself

I wish there was a superhero out there that could do this kind of stuff without just being a plain reality warper or illusionist. So much potential for cool fights.
>>
>>152055811
>without just being a plain reality warper or illusionist
How would he do it then?
>>
>>152055833
I don’t know, some kind of strict restriction to moving existing environments? You could have his reality-warping be strictly nonlethal, maybe closer to physical portals. Like moving his surroundings around via some kind of environment-splicing.
I think Legion had a personality somewhat like what I mean, but it’s hard to put into words.

I'd argue Spongebob is the most influential cartoon of all time. Bigger than Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. Spongebob has been deeply embedded in society for the past three generations, and was the face for meme culture. Has yet to show any signs of stopping, and will most definitely outlast the Simpsons and Family Guy.

It's simpler, when the first movie was in production, no new episodes of the show were made because everyone was busy with the movie. Nowadays Nick execs consider SpongeBob's demand too high to justify another lengthy hiatus, so the film and show teams are separate to maintain constant production of the show.
>>152055097
Damn, you present a strong and well thought-out case. You should contact Brian Robbins via LinkedIn, I'm sure the executives at ViacomCBS would love to hear why Koji Kondo would get more normalfags in seats for a SpongeBob movie than the Billboard top 100.

When you say influential, you are referring to relevance. How something impacted the medium, or fiction in general.
Can we really say Spongebob did much to redefine cartoon comedies? or kids shows? or animation, even?

Spongebob is a popular show, and a good one.
But would the animation business, the cartoon medium, be much different without it?
It's style of humor, in the limited circumstances where it was unique, was never really copied that often.

I'd say the most influential cartoon would have to be the Simpsons, since it defined a whole genre of animation and of TV, really. It's style of humor is still copied today every know and then.
It was so popular, it was a major part of completely changing the TV/Sit-com landscape it was originally parodying.

Comics are harmed by being part of a shared universe. Why do we still do it?

>>152056230
what?
>>
>>152050644
You never see stories of the Avengers coming in to help Spiderman with the Sinister Six, or the Fantastic 4 helping the X Men out with their villains.
>>
>>152056858
The Fantastic Four did help Spider-Man with Venom though
>>
>>152056888
They have a lot more crossover that got more prominent in the 2000s.
>>
Shared universes are cool in concept but difficult to get right in practice. The Valiant 2012 reboot did a good job at first of keeping writers in line and keeping it coherent, but it only took a few years before it started to fall apart. Shared universes work better when the different titles within it are mostly separate from one another. It can give a nice sense of scale to the background of an individual story, but you don't need everybody to be friends with everybody else. You should have characters who don't know each other and never meet.

No one else was storytiming it so i will!
