Ham Gravy (the original mc of what would become Popeye comics) got his entire life, girlfriend and existence replaced by a random sailor who showed up a few issues in. I find this extremely depressing to think about. Imagine everyone you now forgetting you exist all because a random person you met was more likable than you. Popeye cucked Ham out of his own universe and comic let alone everyone he knew and loved
>>153110759lmao
>>153163013Sappo never had animation to my knowledge so it's absolutely forgotten. A shame, it tends to be pretty funny
>>153165813Who?
In some alternate universe Nintendo gained the rights to Popeye and made a platform fighter with not only various comic strip and comic book characters but manga and anime characters as well

What's your thoughts on the follow up to Batman TAS?I really enjoyed it, the writing wasn't as solid but overall it was a nice "bridge" to Superman TAS/Batman Beyond. The only thing I'm not a fan of is how Bruce is written. He's more stern and "ruthless" in this version and feels like he's missing some of his humanity from the original series. I understand why though but still....
>>153162205What book is this from, my good man?
>>153166986Nta but it’s from Modern Masters, it’s up on the usual free comics sites too.
>>153166770Yeah it was really good
>>153166918I think it goes both ways. Wasn't Dini also responsible for the story for the Arkham games? And the story in those games was... meandering, at best. So it's like with Carmack and Romero or Sawyer and Avellone. You get the best results in a tandem or a team. The name itself means shit.
>>153138389Not a fan. This season feels like how I assumed the original run of Batman The Animated Series was going to be before it aired before. It felt more generic. More like a cartoon for children. Lacking in terms of depth of art and animation as well as the writing and complex characterizations that made the original so great. Also missing the moody atmosphere and classic film tone. Ehhhhhh.
It feels like her popularity is waning. We can't let this happen.

What are your latest pick ups? What have you been reading lately? Is anyone else tempted by pic related? Expanded Swamp Thing omnibus set with more than the Bronze Age Omnibus, period appropriate paper and an Alan Moore Omnibus with original colours coming soon too?
>>153163865>I'm tempted to buy the some of them in better conditionPapercutz have just started printing new hardcover editions with extras. I'm buying them, but I only had an odd assortment of Asterix before, not anywhere close to a full collection.Nice shelves, anon.
>>153156831What are these, pot pourri loving French anon? Actually, would like more info on all that particular shelf if you don't mind.
>>153145915The Spidey vs Venom omnibus is super flawed in that it omits the original Venom mini that takes place between ASM #373-375 and Maximum Carnage (and was published at the same time as ASM #376-381).It's super important because it actually addresses Venom and Peter becoming allies after ASM's editorially mandated ending where Peter tells Venom to just leave him alone in exchange for letting him go scott free after kidnapping his parents. This was furthered with the Epic and Micheline omnibus skipping Venom #1-6, creating all sorts of issues reading wise
>>153165807I recognize those booksThat is actually an american published book strangely enough, Stjepan Sejic, a Croat artist that has been working in the american comic industry for the last 20 years or so decided to publish an erotic doftcore porn comic with Image called Sunstone and Image was like "sure why not"Like this guy would be completely standard in the land of Milo Manrara but for Image to go "sure we're publishing straight up porn now" is kinda wildAlso I recognize the Panini logo, despite being an italian company which main business is selling football stickers to 8 year olds has been making deals with DC, Marvel and Image to publish their books in Europe and Latin America for reasonable prices, really based company
>>153167073>Stjepan SejicHaha, well spotted anon. Not what I was thinking they were at all. Cheers.

>>153165423Cullen is interesting because he was basically semi-retired by the 2000's and just doing Eeyore and some stuff like Toonami promos. Once he started getting cast for Transformers nostalgia is when he started doing more work again, ironically around the time he lost the Eeyore gig. If not for the 07 movie he probably would've just been retired by now after the Toonami gig like how He-man's VA just dropped off after the 90's
>>153166982Ironically I much prefer Season 1-2 Optimus more than anything after because he's got way more personality. yeah 86 movie had more gravitas, but he got more flat personality wise. and every Cullen Optimus since the 80's has just been based off the 86 movie style.
There's many VAs that I like. I will always love Kevin Conroy. My favorite piece of my collection is BTAS trading card signed by him.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYLrhXvAb0c
>>153167093>If not for the 07 movie he probably would've just been retired by nowAnd he only got the 07 movie because once word got out that Bay wasn't considering him, fans went BALLISTIC.

>>153161517I always found John's 80s/early 90s style more appealing than any of his post-R&S work, where most of the drawings are fairly sloppy and ugly for ugliness' sake.
>>153143072
People refer to John K. as an innovator. I think this is true to some extent, but I feel like there has always been a collective desire to want to return to the golden age (or if not exactly that, a way to do new things in the medium of animation, because animation has a lot of inherent appeal and potential). It's why you saw people like Spielberg who was interested in The Secret of Nimh and Roger Rabbit and these other things, because there was already this unawakened desire that we were getting closer to for decades. Roger Rabbit was a turning point in the industry where you saw a noticeably higher amount of onlookers and bosses say "we can do it". I'm not entirely sure if R&S would've been picked up in a pre Roger Rabbit world.
