>show about four teenagers>no mystical magical item they're trying to protect>just coming of age experiences and learning to live in society>they all have different insecurities and fears instead of just being bicurious>each of their different cultures and identities add variety to the episodesdo cartoons like this exist anymore?
>>153178176Cool toris, bruh
I rewatched a few episodes the other day and it really made me think about how shit western animation is. Anime fully embraced the slice of life genre a long ass time ago to great success. There's no gimmick or twists, just characters living their lives. Meanwhile there is a huge demand for that genre in the west, but all the people in the industry are these insecure hyper liberal political types who don't go outside or watch anything not a shoegen anime, but they still WANT that normal casual life style of a normal fag. So what they do is make some crazy fucking out there action adventure with all this lore and world building, but then the real show is 80% slice of life bullshit about a bunch of antisocial retards who can't communicate unless they look like their fursonas or hide behind an avatar. It never feels normal or authentic. It always feels like they know that their problems are shallow bullshit so they disguise it as something else so that way they have a few more dishonest excuses to blame anyone but themselves for their own failure to fully move on and grow up. On the rare occasion it is actually decent it still comes off as bad because it's "normal words, but horse!" And if it's not in a fantastic world then it's "normal people, but everyone talks with 10 levels of irony and act like an annoying clown!"This is why King of the Hill is one of my favorite shows. It's super grounded and doesn't rely on fantastic elements to sell itself. It's just normal.
>>153181682Yes, but also no. fit lor but think tish is still fairly healthy isn't she like a vegan???Yeah carver is a bit gay "coded">>153176020>>153176114Think some crew people confirmed he is, but that is nowish so who knows. They probably just hopping on the lgbt craze. Also as a art and green anon, I can also say that really theirs no winning. I could potentially see carver and tish because of some moments they have, but if you make that a certain group of anons will sperg and derail the thread just because of interracial ship. So really another reason most don't ship them here at least but yeah pretty much confirmed he's a bit sus
Clarence is pretty great for depictions of childhood experiences. At least if you are from north american low-income exurbia

Just watched this. The plot is like a video game plot or something, travel the five different worlds and defeat the bosses to gather magical shards that act as powerups for your quirky dragon companion. So strange, doesn't really work for a movie. And none of the characters barely get more than 30 seconds of development before it's on to the next thing.Sisu is a serious cutie though, I wish she had more screentime, or a bigger role in the climax. If there ever was a film that needed to be half an hour longer it's this one.I love dragons so fucking much.
>>153171663>>153171742>why?Let's say the dragons remain dead and these two have to breed to bring the species back.

Something Ive noticed that the later acts of Homestuck do that a lot of modern animation/shows do is a sort of deliberate normalization of short term relationshipsWhen the people writing a story are constantly in and out of different relationships they tend to project this behavior onto the characters that they write, and the relationship drama in modern homestuck really feels downstream of thisEveryone finding true love immediately is unrealistic and overdone in its own way, but having every romantic relationship be a clusterfuck drama fest feels like an overcorrection.
me is going to sell some hardware junk and next im going to a cybercafe and i will like draw some stuff to post here :p
Speaking of the original serial and the wider Parahumans saga: are they any good? This is going to be my next long-form read if it's good, but I couldn't find much out about the author and the syntax of the first chapter has me ill at ease about his level of intelligence.

>>153178367Look at this cover, is the same room >>153171159 too. Dororo is a weird Manga, I love it, is full of suffering and dead children like Usagi but is always weird that the MC is suppose to be a guy with no real eyes, mouth, ears, legs, hands, etc, but in practice that doesn't affect the story at all. The anime tries to fix this detail by making him a weirdo who acts like you would think a mute, blind person would act but in doing so basically is a different protagonist.
>>153170108Maybe stating the obvious, but I think the demon didn't spare Hama because he invoked the Buddha but because the demon recognized Jei's presence in him and didn't want that smoke. Between terrifying a demon and surviving Grasscutter it seems Jei is being set up as something greater than just a regular evil spirit that got on the loose.

What kind of cool fighting style do you wish she had? Naruto or Dragon Ball?
>>153184913Early Dragon Ball.
>>153184913I've never seen Naruto but since that one's about ninjas and I feel a fighting style based on speed and subterfuge suits Huntress Wizard best I'll go with that one.
>>153184558I imagine Finn and Huntress will play a pretty important role in the third season's B-plot similar to the one Marceline and Bonnibel played in the second season.I also think this potential third season's theme will revolve around family like how the second season's theme was communication, so we'll probably see more of Farmworld.

When did you realize their names are David and Goliath and that was on purpose?
>>153177606I tend to think it's best when the public doesn't know.
>>153145722Did Goliath ever punch his smug face?
>>153177606To many plot hole like questions can arise from them being know to the public, namely the world governments wouldn't just let them roam around and exist. If the show was more childlike and silly you could make it work like they did with the last TMNT film, but the nature of the show was far more grounded so with them being exposed to humanity it just gums up any interesting stories.
>>153184054Could say that the governments know but choose not to say anything.

What's your thoughts on the follow up to Batman TAS?I really enjoyed it, the writing wasn't as solid but overall it was a nice "bridge" to Superman TAS/Batman Beyond. The only thing I'm not a fan of is how Bruce is written. He's more stern and "ruthless" in this version and feels like he's missing some of his humanity from the original series. I understand why though but still....
>>153162456Huh that's interesting
>>153180903>>153138951>>153141735Bruce Wayne was plowing this thing so good she still grins about it 40 years later reminiscing about it to Terry and called Dick puppet love by comparison.
https://youtu.be/_JEa71aS3oUThis was the best scene in the DCAU
>>153139576>I really did enjoy it once I got past the absolute fuckup that was some of the character redesignsI recall the reasons for the changes being two-fold.Primarily they wanted the show to have aesthetic consistency with Superman the Animated Series. That show had much more direct involvement by the Japanese animation studio (so much so that the Japanese director won an emmy). Visually, the animation sits between the original BTAS and the sublime Cybersix, where the studio had complete control. The second reason was that the streamlined style in theory made it easier for the B-tier studios, and we wouldn't get the kind of quality drop we got in something like Tiny Toons. In practice, I don't think it worked out as well as they had hoped. But we got some bangers despite the short length of the series. The best ones - the Calendar Girl episode, the one with Annie, and the World's Finest TV movie - straight up had Japanese directors.Edit: I wish we had double the filesize limit here.
Only time I've ever liked Barbara Gordon as Batgirl.
