Also, many of the custom boards that are made these days are not built with acoustic properties that do well with clicky switches. There's a big focus on an elimination of resonance. foam, etc. which can sound good with linears and tactiles, but they do not do well with clicky keyboards. Also most of them are aluminum. Clicky keyboards sound best with plastic boards, otherwise the sound gets too tinny. You can compromise with metal top + plastic bottom. Any I love my IBM and Alps boards. They're awesome. I'm hoping Geon comes out with the F1-8X FE (an all plastic board) because the F1 has removable weights which are perfect for Alps. I would most certainly migrate my Blue Alps switches into that chassis if it ever comes out.
