I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative. After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

New version is out!https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpv-player-windows/files/release/Did you update or are you staying with an older version?

The ignorance of these niggers!>A not too crappy GPU. mpv's focus is not on power-efficient playback on embedded or integrated GPUs (for example, hardware decoding is not even enabled by default).Oh, so the whole player is useless then? When I'm watching movie it's either going to be on my TV (if I'm at home) or my laptop (if away from home), but I'm never going to be using my desktop with a dedicated GPU. Why the hell would I do that? The idiocy of these niggers!>Note that at least for mpv, releases are not actually maintained - releases are for Linux distributions, which are expected to maintain them and to backport bug fixes (which they usually fail to do).Distro maintainers are busy doing this to actually important software that runs the web infrastructure. They are not going to be fixing your media player. The audacity of these niggers!>Mpv requires meson to build. If you want me to compile your software in order to use it, at least have the decency to build it so that it can be done with simple make install. installed cork between plate and pcb. I like it. feels more snug. and switches seem really tight in there due to me not doing the best job in cutting it, which worked out just fine.for me the last missing thing for total bliss is silent switches.

I've read that C++ templates do stuff with types so that puts it a different level in the compiler pipeline than ast macros. Also when you don't have those, not having introspection makes things even worse.
>>107676339I get that but there's also the joy of watching your ideas become reality, and if that's your bag, AI is basically crack. On its way to becoming heroin.

I just hit the first real milestone in my mp1 decoder project. I was able to decode one channel of my reference file and dumb the decoded pcm to file. Then play out the pcm file with aplay. It sounds like a real sound and not just noise.
>>107676688>Yes, that is what C++ template meta language is.more like, this is one way of doing it. A compile time function that returns an ast node is another, and it's not the same thing as macros either.

Even if the option isn't obvious with windows like these, it's still there.Besides, .pkg files and the app store exist for this purpose.
