I'm gonna try re-seating the cables to see if that helps. Then try returning it and hopefully it's not related to anything with the motherboard.

So much for the $599 price they were promising
I have enough for it but I've been waiting for a month and idk if it's even worth it. If you go on reddit, you see a bunch of people complaining about the banding and I don't want to roll a dice for a $650 monitor. I could wait or I could go ahead and buy another monitor, maybe even QD-oled. What 1440p 240hz QD-oled monitor do y'all recommend, or should I just wait for this monitor to come out?
>>
>>107882732
Then go with the FSP imo , $20 dollar difference
I'd have to dig more into this as the dual GPU makes me wary, last I checked Corsair will also be a good fit (HX) plus iCue remote monitoring there are some downsides iirc and EMI issues (at least for SHIFT series can't say it affects 2024/25 RM or HX non shift versions)

Don't buy anything other than IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Utilitarian design: e.g. mix of old and new ports, stable keyboard layout
>Easy to repair, upgrade (some models) & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals, spare parts easy to obtain
>Usable in cramped quarters thanks to the TrackPoint
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

No.
>Do I buy them by size?
Buy one that says it's for your laptop model.
>How do I mount it on the heatpipe? It has a couple of tiny screws and a little copper tab, I think other than that it is glued/taped to it?
Yes. Little bendy copper tabs and tape. The screws are probably for the fan unit case itself and don't need to come out.
>Do other thinkpad models share the same fan?
Possibly, it depends.
>Are chinese fans good?
They're all Chinese.

Batteries are wear items that need replacement periodically. Hinges are fiddley but doable to replace. If it meets your computing needs, you should probably fix it.

However, it sounds like you already have the upgrade bug and it can't be cured until you buy a newer, inferior product and realize you hate it. Then comes the coping and regret.

You want us to give you permission to CONSOOM and I won't. Others might.
>>
>>107881679
I am fine with repairing the laptop, I have a M3 Max 16in MacBook from work and I hate the keyboard enough to keep my T480 around, and I know my way around a laptop to repair it. I am thinking of maybe getting a different MB without the Nvidia trash, but that would bump up the parts cost significantly. From around 100 bucks to 200+. And it is still an old laptop after all.
>>
>>107881770
For less than $200 you could probably buy a whole new unit, scavenge what you need from it, and have a box of spare parts for later.
>>
>>107881628
you should buy another T480 because it is cheap.. and some newer thinkpad gen 3 and above so you have some modern hardware.. there is simply never enough thinkpads, i have 6 thinkpads that i accumulated past 5years hunting for them on ebay

Best way I know is honestly "just code it bro" and refactor continually as you go along and your software grows into maturity.
Do that and you will gain experience that will help you in your next project. Do that a couple of times and hopefully you might start seeing what might work for project X but not for project Y and vice versa.
Make mistakes, fix mistakes, do better next time.

>UML is cumbersome
So do you mean like a Kanban board? Think through all the pieces you need to accomplish the goal, write them all down on post-it notes and stick them in a TODO column on a board. Pick one issue at a time, stick it in the ASSIGNED column while you work on it and then move it to the DONE column when it's done. Then pick the next issue.
Or use a bug tracking system to accomplish the same thing.
It's unclear to me what you mean by
>way to design the architecture

>I can just write that I want an app or a website, and then lead it to change whatever I need.
>app, webiste
Great job, this exactly what I'm talking about.
>website
Websites do nothing, the best they can do is serve interesting content.
>app
Ok, what does it do exactly? All interesting softwares perform complex data/logic processing tasks or have good systems properties (speed, memory usage, good interface, portability, etc..). You need a lot of details to describe what the software is supposed to be doing and how, and to make sure that isn't do anything else, and that if LLM behaved 100% logically which they aren't. You don't have a clue about what those details are.

They exists a few software that you can describe in a short sentence what it does: implement an h264 video decoder, a json parser or an http client. But assuming it implements the software correctly, the software won't have any interest over existing software that does the same thing. It needs a details to specify how to precisely manage memory, *where* to use SIMD (because having SIMD everywhere wouldn't be a good thing to do), what are the signatures of the interface functions and the shape of the data structures (for making the software easily composable with others), etc...

The best you can hope for is a purely declarative system.
Software is about logical precision, not quantity. Always have always will.
Quantity is meaningful is the physical world but in the logical world it's meaningless.

I don't use spotify or any other paid streaming service (I use youtube in a background tab on my pc and metrolist on my phone), but I really don't understand how a local collection is supposed to compete with a service like Spotify or Deezer.
Your local collection will be very limited and there aren't any refined tools like overseerr to immediately request what you want.

>>107882169
The streaming service has the highest quantity of music. But the streaming service does not have the highest quality of music. My collection is more personalized with versions of albums that do not exist on streaming. Also music that was never on streaming and never will be. To me streaming services are just another source to pirate from. If it's the best source I'll use it.

Foldables, sort of. Slider phones are the closest to this but they were only around from 2018-2019
>>
>>107882444
Why?
>>
What the fuck is the point of these high resolution smartphone camera sensors and why are they becoming more prevalent? Initially Samsung were the only ones using a ridiculously high res main but now more Chinese OEMs are adopting it for telephoto and main cameras.

The digital zoom argument doesn't make sense as most if not all phones with high res main cameras also have telephoto cameras, and the ones that don't have telephoto cameras usually have hardware that's too weak to process all those pixels. Better image quality in daylight also doesn't make sense as these sensors aren't designed to output at full resolution and demosaicing algorithms vary wildly from OEM to OEM. Better image quality at night doesn't make sense either as you could get the exact same results with a traditional 12MP sensor that's something like 1/1.3" compared to a 50MP sensor of the same size because you're already getting the large (relatively) individual pixel size from the jump instead of having to bin a bunch of pixels to get there. Is it just bigger number better marketing? Are they cheaper to procure than the usual 50MP sensor of the same size? Maybe it has its uses on actual cameras but I don't see the point on phones.

> What is it? Some kind of food?
No it‘s how it is with other devices, but you need icloud for it to fully appreciate it though.
>take picture, have it instantly available on your ipad and mac
>add someshit to icloud bam it‘s there
>copy from your phone paste from your pc and vice versa
>unlock your phone with your apple watch instantly
>want to register somewhere, oh here is a fake-mail that will redirect everything to your real mail adress
>take pic of a text, zoom in and just select and copy it
Of course you can get some of this with 3rd party apps etc. but the seamless transition between all of those is truly great.

>>107880773
Ngl, I would say paying for icloud is a must. I never did that shit, like never. Always connected my iPhone to my windows pc and copied images over if I need space. Pirated music, put that through itunes on my phone. Then I got fucking iCloud and apple music (spotify or whatever shit you use). Not even fucking once I connected my phone to my pc. If I need anything login to icloud and everything is there. Notes, images and all the other shit. I know I sound like a big appkek shill and I truly don‘t care which phone you got, but just wanted to share my experiences.

>I’ve learned that 99% of the world shouldn’t even be allowed
Nah, no need to gatekeep it.
99% of people have no reason to be doing so, and have no interest in computers to begin with. They only use them because at this point they've been shoehorned into every corner of society, and are a vector for profiteering so they get pushed and addictive but meaningless usecases are invented for that purpose.

Remove the "digital lifestyle" cancer afflicting society and 99% of people will no longer use computers. Society in general will improve as a knock-on effect. And best of all, this doesn't have to happen by some retarded bureaucratic enforcement mechanism trying to control computers and access to them which is a disaster waiting to happen. Just stop subsidizing big tech, nuke the corporations whose entire market model panders to retards who don't give a shit about computers.
