I'm going up the river offline to use antiquitated hardware where I can play games without niggers and faggots and updates or ransomware or trojans and there is no linkedin or github and musk zuck elon et all up my anus. I don't want what they sell, never did.

Don't buy anything other than IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Utilitarian design: e.g. mix of old and new ports, stable keyboard layout
>Easy to repair, upgrade (some models) & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals, spare parts easy to obtain
>Usable in cramped quarters thanks to the TrackPoint
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

There's no reason to ever get X1 Carbon. It's just T14s but expensive.

yeah, I see no usecase for X1 either. For extra bucks I'd pick P14s over X1 any day. If I need real ultraportable machice, I'd chose X13.

I mean yeah you can but you run it at the lowest speed RAM you have which limits the price you can expect to get for whatever fancy gay rainbow speed stick you're selling. When it's 10+ years old literally no one gives a shit at the specs at that point and you're not selling it for even half of what a new gay rainbow stick costs. It's why ddr3 systems on ebay are like 80 bucks, motherboard, cpu, ram and all. Wink wink nidge nudge for potential dinosaurs
>>

Both the windows file explorer and Dolphin (on linux) support tagging files if the file format supports exif, IPTC, or XMP metadata. I know jpeg, png and the like do, however, I have found that although gifs support XMP tags, windows doesn't see them (even though they see XMP tags on pngs just fine). Support is a bit all over the place for older formats like gif and bmp
Then you can sort or group by tags

the american FM-XX manuals from both the vietnam (particularly) & cold war eras are excellent. Whilst the methods have changed, the fundamental principles still remain the same, as is the hardware infrastructure still in use today. At the end of the day, assuming competence, it really seems to come down to what personally motivates you as an individual. Nothing is secure; plan accordingly.

All AMD has to do is make an IO die for the Zen3 chiplets, that adds compatibility to the AM3+ socket.
DDR3 is plentiful and cheap.

There are a lot of AM3+ motherboards available.

All AMD has to do is make an IO die for DDR3, with an RDNA 3 IGPU, and 6 cores Zen3 chiplet.

I have a t420s and was considering upgrading to an ips and ssd. Then I saw it would be ~$100 for the screen and converter board and then another ~$100 for a 1tb 2.5" ssd. I'm sure this is because of tariffs on ali express fucking up the prices completely

A t14 from 2021 goes for $300 on newegg right now and has a 10th gen 4 core 8 thread intel, 16gb of 2666hz, and a 240gb ssd already. It just doesn't seem worth it to keep this old one anymore. The only thing that really sucks is they apparently got rid of the thinklight.

It's so sad that we can't have things like this anymore and instead get RGB slop and glass panels. Imagine, how pleasant to have one giant 400mm fan spinning at a virtually silent 500RPM, which blew enormous amounts of cool air directly onto every single chip, component, and heatsink on the board, as well as your storage devices and PSU. Now we have to deal with 40mm chipset fans running at ludicrous RPMs and oversized fuckhuge expensive air coolers for the CPU.

Are there any signs of hope for true aircooling enthusiasts?
