/g/ anons who have been here for more than 10 years and still use Windows: why?
Bad luck with Linux support on laptops - graphics glitches, screen goes black, failing to wake up from sleep (laptop sucks when you cant close the lid). Two laptops in row the same.also sometimes have to cross-compile some software for Windows. It's always nice to have a real machine to test it on than just trusting Wine.On dev machine at work I can just use Linux, thankfully.
>>108522782>there's a good reason stable distros don't jump to new versions of kde and similar software straight away. The experience did make me seriously reconsider how I choose my distro. I generally found Arch to be the least amount of headache for a desktop system, and in my experience, I found that updates weren't as problematic as people make them out to be. I think Plasma having a major update like that was kind of an anomaly (given that major Plasma updates are incredibly infrequent) but it was an atrocious experience and I never want my system to blow up on me like that ever again.>should have just kept kde5 until 6 stabilisedThis was why I moved over to Kubuntu LTS. To be honest, it was pretty disheartening to see how quick most distros were to jump on a brand new, broken piece of shit. I'd say it took about one to one and a half years for Plasma 6 to stabilize, and many of the minor annoyances (to me, anyway) have only gotten worked out as of the past year or so. Very few distros have offered refuge on Plasma 5 for that long. That said, I eventually moved to a multi-monitor setup, which Plasma 5 didn't support particularly well. Otherwise I would have just stayed on Kubuntu.
>>108522353Why would I change my OS if my current one has worked for 10 years?

What are people doing for manga? Looking through the archives, I saw people talk about Suwayomi as a downloader, then pointing Komga at the download folder. If you genuinely are the kind of person that needs TiK just make friends on MAM & someone will notice you're a fucking weirdo reading weirdo books and probably help you get in.I was friends with someone on BiB through a different tracker & he said the same thing, very few people need it. The main advantage of the tracker is that they apparently have some kind of exploit to access a widely used elibrary system and get any book that's in any library using said system. Unless you get to know the people using that method, you won't be informed of it, but if you make any request for a book that's in those libraries one of them will immediately fill it so you don't really need it.

>>108513700Would moisture accumulation not be a concern?
Can't remove heat fast enough. Phase change refrigeration is very efficient as far as energy in vs heat moved, but it's not very fast per watt. Fridges use about 300w but take 24+ hours to bring things from ambient down to 40f, and even small apartments require 10+kw units to be able to quickly regulate the temperature to avoid running for hours on end just to maintain the set point. Trying to cool a constant 200-1000+w load in a tiny box by 30+ degrees would require such a large ac system it would likely need to be in its own circuit to not constantly trip the breaker.
