Why THE FUCK does AI use so much clean water daily?
76 replies and 8 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
The water used in cooling systems that is left after evaporation process is no longer potable/drinkable, as it becomes contaminated. All this 'it evaporates and becomes automatically usable again!' is disingenuous horseshit pure. It is basically criminal stupidity building data centers in Texas etc. because 'Alaska would be too expensive as no infrastructure' - then, go fucking build it. These people need shot at dawn.
>>
>>107875583
Proof? They always say shit like this but I don't believe it water coling is closed loop and the water is recycled constantly. These datacenters use reclaimed water from bathrooms and shit as well. I again do not believe it. I also don't believe these datacenters managers want to pay anything extra for shit so they'll try to reclaim the water every chance they get. State of the art water facilities are a pride thing as well if you ever get a tour in these buildings they will go out of there way to point out these advanced systems.
>>
>>107875583
Meanwhile Californians spend about 40 billion gallons of water per day. 90% of it on agriculture and manufacturing.
>>
>>107878673
How much evaporation is actually occuring? These systems are fucking closed and sealed they aren't open pits of water exposed to the fucking sun
>>
>>107878690
There is 100% proof of this and yet these retards complain about datacenters which who tf knows where they get the information from.

I think it’s good time that students should start thinking about alternate career options instead of blindly chasing programming. First, you’re told to learn:
>HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, Python, C, C++, SQL, React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL,etc
Then comes the mandatory grind:
>DSA, LeetCode, CodeChef, Codeforces, System Design, OOPs, OS, DBMS, Computer Networks
Then tools and cloud crap:
>git, GitHub, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP, CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform,
Then frameworks & buzzwords:
>nextjs, Spring, django, (((Microservices))), REST API, GraphQL, WebSockets
And now the new AI slop:
>AI, ML, Deep Learning, GenAI, ChatGPT, LLMs, Prompt Engineering, LangChain, Vector Databases.

After all this… You might get a job. But there’s no guarantee you’ll survive in the long run. AI is evolving faster than most people can upskill. Tech stacks change. Roles disappear. Expectations keep increasing. IT is no longer the “safe” career it used to be. It’s a constant race with uncertainty. This isn’t fear-mongering, this is actually reality. Don't listen to fucking YouTubers who make their lives out of selling programming courses.
You should really explore other careers where AI supports you, not replaces you.
>>
I think all the tech companies and AI companies should collapse and lay off and normies should never go anywhere near computers or tech or STEM ever again. Curiositymaxxers only.
>>
I dropped being a code monkey and became a board repair monkey, worked well enough for me
>>
>>107876583
I think that students should learn the word "adversity" instead of falling apart when make makes a certain passive-aggressive error about eight spaces, read error code instead of crying that gcc "doesn't compile" or treat cpp dumping 20 pages of errors because of one fucked up header as a challenge and not as a personal offence. And for the fuck's sake, unless you're legally incapacitated – DON'T COME WITH YOUR PARENTS. (And do your homework. There's a reason I have it to you.)
PS: And perhaps after living for about 12 years with phone glued to the hand figure out the concept of directories?

Trying to unlock the bootloader on a galaxy A03 core.
I did all the settings on the phone, now the tutorial says I gotta turn it off, press both volume buttons then connect it to a PC and it will boot into the bootloader unlock thing. I can't get it to do that, it just charges the phone instead. I'm on linux, if that matters, maybe it doesn't trigger the signal for the bootloader for some reason?

How much do you save by buying the base 17? If it's over 200, it might be worth considering if you don't need the bigger screen and telephoto.

Most of the time 2 years but the 17 pro looks like shit and the rumored camera hole for the 18 pro sounds shit. So I will wait for the 20, which should not have a notch or a hole in it. This time I will go with a pro max, as the pro is pretty comfy for one handed and is still big but lately I realized I use my phone with two hands anyways.

my Haswell Xeon Low Power + SAS2008 + shitty Nvidia GPU purely to make the chipset POST, is probably drawing some retard numbers. my way of dealing with it, is to also make it my router, so that I can decommission my router miniPC and save at least some power that way.

>that's not a server. it's a laptop.
i think if its running services 24/7 or serving some purpose 24/7, it counts. In 2019 my first "server" to run something 24/7 was just a $90 laptop and it was slow but it worked. Since then i've used cheap desktops as servers (dell optiplex is a lot of bang for your buck) and currently working on a half-depth 3U supermicro server. I don't call my supermicro server any more of a server than my dell optiplex, or even the laptop i used to use, or even a raspberry pi thats plugged in 24/7 just to share a usb stick

>>107875900
>nuc that idles at 10 watts and maxes out at around 40.
>As a bonus I can 3d print a 10" rack to put it in instead of needing a real rack
If you are constrained on space or only use smaller devices (like 8 port switches, small routers, etc) a 10in rack is fine... i guess it depends on what you expect your largest piece of hardware to be. With a 19in rack you can fit two tiny devices on a single row (I 3d print the housings for mine).
But low powered PCs for a server is a pretty solid move. It doesnt take powerful hardware to run a media server like emby or jellyfin, DNS, network shares, web server, database, flash api all at the same time. If you can do all that (or everything you want) and it only consumes 10 watts at idle, then it makes way more sense to go that route as opposed to having a behemoth running 24/7 with only 2% CPU usage

>discord
I'm curious, what do you use? I've played with a python module for discord bots but i havent touched or worked with it in a couple years
>minecraft
Do you have people off your network connect to it? If so im curious about how you manage things like authentication, access rules, do you expose any other services, do you maintain a public DNS record or do you just share your IP and what port to use with friends?

He's a great privacy pug for you, office 365 recent files in one drive. Can't be cleared. Ever.

This stuff from MS has just passed the point of being usable. Simple as.

Still can't cut and paste from a modal dialog box in windows using a mouse either. Shits hilarious, and linux is just as crap.

>If you want computers in your home then they have to be offline on a private lan with no internet access or you are fucked.

By the way there is an upside to this. You don't have to secure them or update them anymore, just get them to what you consider perfection and use them. As long as you have your 20-50TB of the internet on a media store and a physical media library you won't even miss it. The only things left I use are this place, egay, banking, pension, auction sites and yahoo stock prices and binance/coinbase and email. none of it needs a desktop connection anymore because normies don't use desktops or windows or linux at home they use android or apple mobiles.

I get more computing pleasure using a spectrum next than a windows desktop or linux.

> you live in europe where life is nice

My entire life is having to deal with lards
I open my work laptop made by a lard company running LardOS that fucks me in the ass wherever it can. Then a jeet that was hired through lard corpo outsourcing strategies presses a button and ruins my whole week. I go home for the day to open lardchan filled with leadbrained zoomers and LGBT creatures (another lard invention that has infected every euro country). I try to play a game made in the past 10 years and its been handcrafted to appeal to the lard demographic. I cant engage with any community revolving my hobbies without being swept away by a tsunami of lard. I go to bed and I’m kept awake by niggers setting off fireworks at 2am on a workday who suffer no consequences from his actions because George Floyd taught niggers in europe they can dearm law enforcement entirely and turn my country into a place where your position in society as a non nigger is working min wage tech janny while being taxed to death for a social system that only benefits the niggers setting off fireworks at 2am, or people with terminal costly illnesses

So no living in America is no different except you actually get more money for some reason
