If you didn't buy a Blu-Ray drive to rip things before 2024/2025, you fucked up. Prices have gone up 200%, the end of production is here, and you will no longer own this for anything less than 200 dollars if you can find it in stock.

this exact 6TB WD elements is the best deal i can get at $30/TB vs $39/TB for 4TB or worse for smaller ones
Can i just crack this open and take out the bare HDD or will it not work because of different pinout of power connector?

They are rated for vibration more than anything else, in a regular Joe PC or NAS they are a bit pointless

Too expensive and the only good VR games are ones that have been ported to VR pretty much (Resident Evil, Half Life). It's like owning a PS5 but except the people living downstairs hate you. It needs more time and more good developers. It will get there eventually it just isn't worth it for most people

Literally hundreds of millions of people in the fitness space want AR heads up display glasses that organize and display and record GPS data, vitals, and training splits. That's literally ALL it has to do. Display text and maybe a simple scatterplot in front of your fucking face without blinding you to your surroundings or weighing 800lbs.

Nobody wants VR for anything except beatsaber clones. Nobody is going to pay $1,000 for "VR front row" tickets to a concert. "VR education" is a dead and worthless space milking money out of retard investors who have never put on a headset.

The problem with the EU is fines are issued by commission rather than directly starting with a criminal trial.
If the EU wants a check they can just find *something* even if no actual intention to break the law exists.

In the US the burden of proof is extremely high and if companies have to been found to be liable for illegal activity there is usually non-monitary remedies to correct the illegal behavior.

I don't believe the EU is entirely serious about it's laws other than using them as a tripwire for money. There are actions that could be done to really cripple business in the EU if they actually want to punish companies.
>>
Pretty crazy that they can break the law all the time over there as long as they pay.

>this is the FP performance of a 7900 XTX
How in the everloving fuck is Radeon not smoking NVIDIA GPUs all these years with these numbers? What if they were able to run the same software as though NVIDIA made them? AMD GPUs have always had more raw teraflops over the years (especially double precision, such as on the Radeon VII) and yet this is never reflected in most real world tasks.

Seriously, on paper this should handily beat an RTX 4080. Can someone explain WTF is going on here? Why is this calculator not out-calculating the other calculator despite being able to do more calculations? Are the calculations just retarded and less valuable than the other calculations from the other calculators and thus not directly comparable or what?
>>
in dx12/vulkan stuff like timespy, resident evil 4, ghosts of tsushima, dxvk etc the 7900xtx matches or beats the 5080. when it comes to RT or DX11 and older Nvidia scales better. there are ofc some DX12 titles that just like Nvidia better like Silent Hill 2 UE5 or God of War Ragnarok but that's just Nvidia partnerships.

But that is going to the old ways, they always want to advertise as much as aggressively possible. But laws get put because it's fucking annoying(at least in some places). Outside visable to everyone would be much harder to shit everywhere and have no backlash. Convince the neighbourhood grannies and u got yourself a protest group. But on the internet? "Fuckoff it's not a real place". Or maybe some tech savvy politicians come in to play and clean up the internet infustructure for home country

salt water fucks your shit up - it corrodes, leaves more scale and generally destroys cooling systems in fairly short order. Its kind of the same reason they need to keep adding new fresh water to cooling systems even when it hasn't evaporated, as the used water gets full of crap and has to be dumped after a few cycles. Only saltwater has added super corrosion powers. You would need to add a desalination plant, which is additional energy usage, which is back where we started. Basically you COULD do all of these things, just companies obviously want the path of least resistance and cost. The biggest single factor, for me, is allowing them to build data centers in the worst fucking places possible. This is just retarded and an additional permanent drain on already scarce resources.

If I can block the noise with my headphones, I can say it's better than if I can't.
Period.
I will not increase the pump fan speed. I will cuck my CPU by disabling (or setting to auto) PBO so I can keep pump fan speeds as low as I can (making the cooler fairly ineffective), because this is unblockable noise. It's really shit when I have to increase the fan noise to sort of "block" the noise my man.
The nh-D15S only has one fan. It's not dead silent, but again, I could just ignore its existence by blocking my ears a little. Something, I will repeat myself, I cannot do with my nautilus RS360. Which is still more expensive.
Hell I even kinda cucked myself with the format, if I ever want to switch to a smaller case too bad.
>>
Ocrams razor says air cooling is the right choice
>>
>>107880981
why do you people need perfect silence? While gaming i run all my fans on 100% for the lowest temps possible. With headphones it is not that bad and i got used to it anyway. I have xiaomi air purifier which i run on 100% fan speed all the time too (except while i sleep), that is pretty loud also. My room sounds like server room all the time and i have no problem with it, you will be used to it and quiet will be weird to you then. To be honest it is very weird if it is quiet, i can hear the cars outside slightly or some noises inside the house. While the fans run loud it is very soothing and calming.

I like openbox except for a very simple and stupid flaw: it's impossible to resize windows by just using a mouse because the window resize borders are one or two pixels wide. The only way to fix it is to make the window border thicker but that looks ugly.
>>
>>107879745
they're basically the same at this point. wayland can be better but are you going to sacrifice 0.001 second of frame timing for being unable to run at 300FPS with a new AMD? when I am delivering 200 more FPS than any nigividia card can give me and X11 doesn't work, then does the latency difference matter as I have a bazillion more frames?
>>
Every games fullscreen mode seems to be fucked on wayland.
Programs that require specific window position are fucked.
All the professional IDEs and tools I have to use for work don't work well with wayland.
>>
>>107878209
linux is already modern and was modern for years + it has excellent backwards compability, just not in a way faggots want it to be
>>
>>107880994
faggots don't actually want backward compatibility.
They want to rewrite their shit and constantly change the API.
