They get the GPU cores (and used to get memory but not anymore), everything else they have to make themselves. They still have to follow some guidelines (which have been very strict the last couple of gens) but they're still free to, for example, overbuild the power delivery system.
>>
>>107840843
Notice how they don't talk about the CPU cores
It must be terrible
>>
>>107840873
They design and manufacture the PCB (you can check techpowerup for photos) and heatsink, source the memory chips.
Premium brands might offer one extra video out, extra power connectors for overclocking and shit like RGB(T) lights and meme cooling solutions.
>>
>>107840873
They build cards and handle the distribution of goods to regions/retailers and handle customer service
>>
>>107840781
They're a "budget brand" because they sell so many cards they can afford to not be as jewish as everyone else off of sheer volume, but they're very solid. A hundred times better than the other budget brand in zotac at least

If it's on Swappa it's probably fine if it's from a reputable dealer. Why not just buy a brand new one though? If money is an issue just do a payment plan or something.
>>
>>107840670
It's between a used 16PM and a brand new 17 for me. I kinda want the bigger battery, but then again it's already had 100+ cycles of wear.
A brand new 16PM is hard to find, and the 17PM looks retarded with that long visor instead of the "classic" (come on, 2019 was like 20 years ago) camera island.

I want to learn how to make android apps. Where do I start. So far I've looked at the Android Basics with Compose Course

https://developer.android.com/courses/android-basics-compose/course

I'm proficient with running and using LLMs (local and SaaS so I think that might help me a little bit.. yes I know I have a lot to learn but I'm willing to put time and effort into it.

Current relevant hardware I have is an M4 max MacBook pro. I already have Android Studio installed as well as vs code and local LLM servers (I primarily use llama-server whenever possible)

The way to use them is not to ask them to solve your problems, but how to use the libraries that you already know can solve your problem.
For example if you want to solve puzzle, you find the puzzle solving library yourself, then ask the AI how to use the functions to skip the documentation reading part.

FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex

>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

Even easier and faster: activate with HWID in MAS. Since only IoT can be activated with HWID, MAS will convert your LTSC to IoT at the same time. Plus HWID is the best activation method in general

So, I've never used any program like this before. Just out of curiosity, if I install a program like let's say MPC-HC or qBittorrent or JPEGView whatever with specific settings, and set up it's icons in start menu how I want, will these auto updating programs actually reinstall the program with the new update using my old installer settings, or will it just like winget on fresh installs always do default install settings?

What's the point of NixOS if I can just write shell scripts for setting everything up on Arch? Any distro can be "deployable" if you make it that way
27 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107839901
Or better yet shell script might just echo shit on random config files, which just stay there until you read the script and roll them back yourself and are easy to forget. How about just removing the line from nix config and be done with it?
>>

>They used to bleed you to cure diseases, we don't do that anymore because we have actual science now.
This one didn't improve at all considering not long ago most of the population of our planet took the cancer juice™.
>>
For a regular user like me, it's nice knowing that if I need to reinstall my os or it breaks I can have the same exact config in minutes especially combined with home-manager, which allows me to define what settings and even plugins I want with my installed programs. For example I can declare all of my firefox settings/extensions and a firefox update will never be able to fuck with them. Also yes the system updates being atomic also makes sure it's basically impossible to break. So in short, once you get over the skill curve, you will have a setup that will just work with 99.9% reliability until the end of time (or if nixos itself dies).

Yes. 20% of computers are Macs, and Macs run on ARM. They also tend to be the better quality computers. If you can afford ARM running Unix (which is what an Apple computer is), you get it.

Has caused me endless pain.
I'll be listening to a podcast/long video, pause the video, come back to it later and the player will have "unloaded" and will look like picrel. If I press play it'll start from the start. If I close the video and open it again it'll start from the correct place.

i have a hakko 971 station, fluke 45 lab multimeter, and hp e3610A dc psu. i would like to get into microsoldering. i've been watching louis rossmann, northridgefix videos etc since i was a kid i've always wanted to get into it. i'm thinking about buying a fx-9703 microsoldering pen for the soldering station and a trinocular stereo microscope. for my first project i would like to fix the traces on a mechanical keyboard board i have. is this equipment suitable for repairing electronics at the component level as well as microsoldering. is there anything else i should consider purchasing. thanks.

How the fuck is my iphone faster online than my PC? I have a 4080 founders edition and 32GB of DDR5 RAM but using my phone to look at webpages and handle discord VC is significantly faster and better than using my PC.

I am really worried that I downloaded a virus that is dragging my PC down, but I have a hunch that maybe the slowness is just a problem with how my PC is connected to the family WiFi or something else related to the network.

Where would you begin in finding out if it's network connectivity that's slowing your PC?
>>
So my old PC case is an absolute fucking mess, I had to cut into parts of it inside to make space for my larger GPU than intended for it, and to set up one fan in the back and one in the front I could easily set one up in the back of the case with a intended area for it, they're just basic 120x120 cheap fans, but in the front of the PC I couldn't put it in without taking everything apart and I couldn't bother, so I literally just laid it on top of the GPU, used rubber bands and connected it to the case that way, so it's held in place. I booted the PC and it just werks. How cooked am I? Will my PC explode? Or will it continue to be bussin.
