Do you use an email client? If so, why? Is there any benefit to using an email client over webmail? Unless you're self hosting I don't get it.

Much faster, no pozz, no bloat, no privacy hazards, pgp plugin and nobody gets to have my mail forever (provided the service is honest, which in my case it is).

You might be looking for something like ferdium. It's really no different than a separate browser but allows for isolation of the different "tabs" so you can have different logins for a single web app at the same time. I have my WhatsApp, some AI apps and my Google stuff for two separate accounts there.its quit heavy though. Nothing for an old ThinkPad with mint.

I'm still using Thunderbird for all things mail though.

oh that reminds me I need to install it.
I used to use evolution, when I still used gnome, the calendar integration was nice and getting notifications for meetings. This year I installed thunderbird on my phone, in the heat of a moment during a work trip, need to test it out on desktop.

I am retard and dont know much about phones. Heard for the last few years about grapheneos especially on the google pixel phone. security and privacy sounds cool. I have been using an old moto G for years now and its on its last legs. Unfortunately I did not do the most basic preliminary research to know that I need an unlocked phone or what that even meant. I got a new pixel from verizon through my parents as we are still on a family plan. Is there anything I can do with this or is it the most spywaring phone to ever spyware from now until forever? Can I make the AI and google news shit any less obnoxious?

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

Is there a way to tell just buy looking at a drive if it's a Power Disable/3.3 PWDIS drive pr mpt

I'm getting conflicting information from Seagate support and other hard drive/server part sales sites if the ST12000NT001 and the ST14000NT001 are Power Disable or not, after initially being told they weren't and ordering the latter.

I'm new to server and NAS stuff and I don't know how i'd tell the difference between plugging the drive in and it being a bad drive vs it simply being power disable, though obviously if I plug it in and it works then I should be fine?

Been hunting for headphones for a few months now. Tried a bunch and all of them have had one issue or another. I have a huge fucking head so most just won't fit me or squeeze my head like a vise. I liked how large the Edition XS were they were in fact too big.
I sit in a recliner leaning back and they were so big they sort of locked my head in place so I couldn't turn it from side to side because they were pressed up against the chair.

My last two options were the Sundara and the HD 490 pro. I liked how the sundara had a more round shape, I thought that might fit better. Turns out they are made for ants, they are the smallest headphone I have ever seen. Literally half the size of the xs, they didn't even go halfway down my ears. I was shocked how poorly they fit, I think part of it was the headband strap, it had no adjustment and cut off a lot of space.

So for a final hail mary I wanted to try the 490's. I had avoided them before because they were a bit too expensive but at this point I'm willing to pay whatever to get something comfortable.
I guess God was looking out for me or something because amazon did one of their micro sales and I grabbed them for 30 dollars off.
It was some third party seller but they ship from amazon brand new so hopefully they will be alright. I'm hopeful, most reviews talk about how wide and comfortable they are. If they don't work out I'm just going to have to compromise, if a gen is around I'll post an update when I get them.
>>
>>107651509
they're super comfy but i prefer the fabric (mixing) pads because the signature makes them more like the 560s.
>>
>>107651517
The two pads thing was another plus, I like the idea of being able to switch up the sound from time to time. Also will just make them last longer I can wear one pad until it falls apart and then switch to the other. Not as happy about the cable though, seems pretty proprietary compared to say ones for the 600's. I was only able to find a single brand on amazon so hopefully the one that it comes with works well enough.
>>
>>107651526
the stock cable is fine, hart audio cables has one for the 490 now.

There are two reasons.
The majority of people are ignorant sheep and will look at the media telling them it's THEIR choice and patriotic DUTY to vote! ...While never considering that their choice is between two people who have been placed in front of them, already purchased by Israel, both having an interest in keeping the political game afloat to enrich themselves, etc.
There are people who see this bullshit, obviously, but the major political parties (both running the grift) choose the candidates that the people vote for and do everything in their ability to prevent people from voting for anyone but the two major parties (polling requirements, media blackouts, etc.). A favorite of mine is the psychological warfare of "us" vs "them". They choose an "issue" of their own making then take radical sides so that there's a difference. Party A says that Abortion should be legal post birth and every hospital should be equipped with toddler guillotines. Party B says like begins in the balls and every sperm needs to get a job. Meanwhile, both candidates believe in the same perfectly logical and reasonable middle ground.

So there you have it, the double factors of willful ignorance and malicious influence.
Party elites have all the power. They play their political games for personal sport and enrichment. Anyone who tries to disrupt the plan and actually help the people will not find themselves on the ballot for a major party the following year.

Bonus: Did you know that the Democratic and Republican parties both come from the same party? Yes, they both originated as the Democratic-Republican party.
>>
>>107647413
China's all slave labor though
>>
>>107651347
Oh, I forgot to include these shockingly prevalent absurdities of willful ignorance:
>My daddy voted red, my gran-daddy voted red, an' my great gran-daddy voted red, so I'm votin' red!
>My union told me to vote blue, and I'm a union man!

>>107650009

picrel is a iontophoresis machine
i have a condition called hyperhidrosis that makes my hands sweat like 10x more than the normal person at the slightest feeling of any anxiety. it makes it awkward to touch people or shake hands in a social setting
with this machine, a few times a month i run electricity through my palms and it deactivates the sweat glands completely, making my hands bone dry and letting me enjoy social settings again

what are some obscure technologies you use to make your life better?

>it makes it awkward to touch people or shake hands in a social setting
>Not just shaking their hand anyway and making them partake in your condition

Also, I don't know if it's this particular treatment or a more invasive one--probably the latter--but I've heard that it makes you sweat from elsewhere on your body to compensate. Just stop being nervous, bro.
>>
>>107651425
i believe what you're describing is compensatory hyperhidrosis that happens after a sympathectomy - the surgically invasive treatment where they sever your nerves to stop you from sweating from a specific place
i haven't had this experience with iontophoresis, the mechanism of action isn't well understood but it seems it keeps your brain from even knowing that you're unable to sweat from there, whereas with the nerve surgery your brain realizes the signals aren't going anywhere and redirects them. sneaky fucker.
>Just stop being nervous, bro.
sadly there's a whole graveyard of alcoholics and benzo abusers that would love to be able to do this
>>
why would you deactivate your self lubing hands

clang is a better compiler, unfortunately gcc supports a lot more embedded CPUs

compile with debugging and no optimization, -ansi sets it to C90, pedantic-errors rejects gcc non-standard C extensions
gcc -g -O0 -ansi -pedantic-errors -Wall -Wextra -o filename filename.c

release build with optimization
gcc -O3 -ansi -pedantic-errors -Wall -Wextra -o filename filename.c
