Just tell me what the fuck to buy to replace my M1 Macbook Air 2020.Damnit I kinda don't want to do this. The battery life is incredible. But Macos suck so much fucking cock it's unbelievable. I also just need to plug my lap to my office's monitor and go back to linux (I already use Asahi on my mac).Something modern but Thinkpad and not expensive pleaseMy thinkpad history if it matters:>T420>T430>X230>T480 for like a monthLost all of them for reasons
all my laptops have been hand-me-downs but I have to buy one for the first time everI runlinux, I need it for browsing the internet, usually 20 or so tabs open, watching videos from streaming sites. I don't care about battery life, I don't care about weight or it being clunky - in fact, the sturdier it is, the better. I'd like to prioritize security but I don't want to go through the whole pain of opening the thing up to flash the bios. I just bought a 5090 and 128gb ddr5 ram so I'd like the laptop to be on the cheaper side.I'm in Australia so my options are limited. T14, T14s gen 1 & 2 are plentiful, there's a bunch of other stuff on ebay but I don't know what to look for exactly.
Anyone had the issue of the mic-mute button being constantly lit on their T480? I think it started happening after one of the recent kernel updates but I am not sure. I can still turn the LED on and off with the appropriate console commands and it still mutes and unmutes the mic but the LED doesn't toggle when I use the button. I use i3 if that is important.

One last post before bed, the HDD I mentioned in >>108506619 seems fine. Thank fucking god.
99% is an easy fix for any tech helpthey will care of it for youIF you need to do it yourself, turn off the back switch, disconnect the pc and don't touch anything until the motherboard leds are off, then remove the battery FIRSTthen make a windows usb if you have a spare pc around

>>108507004If you have pizza on your drive, don't give it to a stranger obviously.Go to your repair guy, ask to buy a flash drive with Windows installation media burned on it (literally free, should just cost a cheap flash drive and a small amount of his time).Plug in flash drive, select to boot from that drive, choose Repair Windows.

Fuckin clanker trying to cockblock me again after I needed to do a handoff.
Imagine putting all your security on your front end making it an insane puzzle, a damn near impenetrable fortress, just to make the backend have more holes in it than Spongebob Squarepants. If I didn't have this clanker reversing this shit it would never get done.

This has been a point of contention for long. 80% of what makes 11 dogshit was already present on 10 as well. I'd say to a greater degree before 2020, it was a nightmare of an OS. >>108505664I think he means that headphones with different isolation need different tuning. Resolve called it some mystical bullshit, don't worry about it.
>>108506423No I don't think that's what he meant at all.Do you guys realize what he's actually doing? They measured their HRTF then measured headphones with in ear mics to get HPTF. Peaks he is tuning out are HIS HPTF. Why would "different isolation" have any bearing on his individual treble peaks? He literally says "what headphone's acoustics expect" as if it means anything lolAfter destroying muh techs he still needs some as resolved put it mythical bullshit to cope with what he's hearing. Why not attribute techs to the same mythical bullshit then? How is he so sure that it's inherent properties of a headphone and not just errors of their measurements? Maybe mics show louder resonance than he actually hears or whatever... Or maybe it's some kind of perceptual bias and he just likes more treble than measurements and their targets suggest
