why not look for job in esports? esports guys are more gamedevs and more techworkers than any gamedevs and any techworkers ever will.

the environment is not sterile at all and you can be edgy as much as you like. No vapid boomer managers, no eggless female HRs, and most importantly, no dumb toddlers, and it's upholds actual genuine family values.

it will feel like highschool again, trust me.

Just like in the hit korean drama "My Mister"? Where the Female Lead and his foster father both are part of this recruiting (pyramic scheme) companies, and their CV's get sent to other companies?
>>
>>106998959
IDK, I'm pretty niche background so maybe I don't match any bots' lists or something. That could be due to few people knowing to use recruiters. This guy liked them a lot and said they were great at matching candidates to positions. With the potential downside that they cost the company money so they may only work with bigger companies where the fee is pocket change to them

>IDK, I'm pretty niche background so maybe I don't match any bots' lists or something.
fair enough but remember that a KPI for recruiters is number of applicants provided, and actual placements is usually ignored. recruiters are not there to help you, even if they were there to help anyone at all (they arent) they are there to help job providers, not job seekers.

There is a luddism inherent to many players of more traditional instruments, they view the drum machine and synthesizer as rivals and rightly so. It's been fifty years since they started getting replaced by them. Ironically it was some of the most forward-looking traditional instrument players who moved electronic music forward. Roger Linn was a session bass player before he started mucking with drum machines and then sampler / sequencers. One of his friends who helped develop and beta test the MPC was Phil Collins. Brian Eno was also an extremely early user of both samplers and synthesizers of all kinds. Musicians saw the writing on the wall. These days a lot of soundtracks for movies and film are directly composed and performed with synths and sequencers. They came into use immediately and composers could collaborate instantly with the director who could hear results in real time. Rough cuts were sync'd to a rough soundtrack and only later would it be sent into a studio for a recording. Mainly because the synthesizers going from the early '80s until maybe the early '90s were fine for pop or dance music but didn't have the richness or tonality of the real deal. This took away work from session players working for film and TV immediately.

These days it has become common for soundtracks made entirely by synths to make the final print / master, as they sound about as good as any recording of an acoustical instrument now.

Another reason for the working musician to fear the machines.

Gentoo for desktops if you know what you want.
If you just want something that is modern and works on desktops with no effort, honestly no idea which DE I could recommend. GNOME2 is long dead and KDE, while good with a custom config, has bullshit like kwallet that often doesn't work ootb and gets in the way. Anything using GTK3 or GTK4 is fucking useless and LXqt is too minimal for a normal user.

This is the first time I'm seeing szurubooru, but reading it's readme, sounds like Shimmie might be a lil better. It is "battle tested" (Some sites use it)

AFAIK I've never used any automatic tool tho, I started my stash when I had 10 videos and it grew up organically, so I just tagged them myself, but Shimmie supports the Danbooru API format so It's trivial to do something like that.

Also, shimmie is easier to deploy. Just set up a web server with php support and you're done.

I didn't say I can turn my brain off.
That's the difference between an actual software engineer and a vibe-coder.
But I can for sure go afk to take a coffee, come back and analyze what it's been done. Sometimes you need to do some fixes, or suggest a different approach.
However, there is no denying that LLMs, specifically CC right now, completely take care of coding with an extremely impressive understanding of the codebase.
In Claude Code you /init in your project and the thing analyzes your project entirely.
From there, with a little guardrail and experience in design patterns, you can hand over almost any task to it.
>>

Sonnet 4.5 is in a league of it's own. I sometimes wonder if people are using other models for coding because they are retarded or because they can't afford cc.

I'm still seeing people use 4o and Gemini, even seeing faggots use glm 4.6 and qwen all the time. Are they retarded?
>>
>>106998737
Init doesn't give you much, takes a lot of editing CLAUDE.md but you're mostly right, you can just tell cc to edit the CLAUDE.md to avoid A,B or C etc.

I'm using this implementation of EL. https://github.com/Jpn666/ctoolbox/blob/master/src/str2flt.c
If you want to use it make sure to compile that library using
--buildtype=release
to get better performance.
>>
>>106998580
1000 thanks anon
i know theres some (glaring) inefficiencies in my code, i am curious how far i could push it, and how it compares with an exemplary implementation
('bc it is, even my thing is only ~40-60 cycles, with the EL algo still faster than that. i estimated by ~25% now, but im gonna check properly, now i have the code)
>>
>>106998580
>>106998675
btw
i tought about the cost of simd today
and i went after what i thought was one of the larger performance hogs of the code
to see if the horizontal addition of 4 floats wouldnt be faster than the variety of intrinsics that i use in lieu of that

turns out that simple modification increased execution time by fukken 30%
and i still wrote it with the parentheses and shit to make sure the compiler will understand a way to compute that with optimal dependency (for ilp reasons)
nah.
changing from the spaghetti into human readable form increased the runtime by 30%
from 21s/1B iterations to 27.7. (i assume 3gigs speed bc ryzen 3600 that gives 60 cycles. not 40. indulge me im baked)
>>
File: pepe-C-ilvia.jpg (150 KB, 1200x675)
150 KB
150 KB JPG
also curious fact:
fastest scenario for me runs in 19 secs
and thats half the memory ops
so im probably bumping my head against the latencies of simd
i already have a suspect in my code
the fukken additional blocks
but it think if i remove everything i can be using more than 16 vector registers at certain points and that means offloading shit to the stack
which is gonna tank performance i think
its 60 cycles. 4 cycles for a read and 4 cycles for a write and thats 13% of the runtime of added latency which may or may not be optimized away by the cpu
but then the compiler might/should do a better job at linking everything together

im not gonna code it today, but i think my intern tier use of blocks makes my stuff way slower than it should be
possibly fences which prevent out of order, which in turn influences latencies
certainly the fact that i pass everything through eax, which happens because i trusted a very bad source- everything is passed by value
although that may be because i force the behaviour with my blocks
>>
>>106998782
>to see if the horizontal addition of 4 floats wouldnt be faster
I did the same for the multiplication of a 4x4 matrix by a vector, in row order. Using it made the function a lot of shorter.

Silica won't help, it needs to be disassembled and dried. Water leaves minerals behind and those conduct electricity, the mainboard will need some sort of cleaning to remove those.
