How the fuck do I get my boomer dad to stop sending me/viewing AI slop?
>ANON LOOK, this cat saved this baby from bear, they're so smart and just like us
>Dad, that's AI, there's the Sora logo right there, Sora is AI
>w-well here's a cat saving a baby from a cougar, no logo, seeeee?
>see the bouncing blur? They edited out the AI logo with shitty AI
>you're no fun! Cats are smart! Stop being cynical!
Don't get me wrong, I love cats, but goddamn why do boomers fall for this shit EVERY time?

While it definitely is intentional in a lot of cases, because heavily political issues are full of contradictory information (meaning one or the other, or both, must be false and thus is intentionally spread propaganda), I think that on a larger scale it's more of social inertia than anything intentionally malicious. When everyone is given a niche audience that is willing to listen and agree with them because their beliefs already coincide, you get self-sustaining echo chambers that are based on simple mutual feelings that aren't formed with any calculated intent. They just "happen" because people can now easily find a like-minded audience.
Also while you can call it a "problem", problems usually imply some kind of possible solution or approach you can take. Some things don't have solutions, and this is one of them. Whether it is an artificially crafted thing or not doesn't matter. Even if it was, I'm not sure if the "responsible parties" would even be sure of that themselves because they'd also just be people. The notion of "acting directly opposite" to what the imaginary bad actors "want(ed) you to do" won't solve an unsolvable problem. The only thing you can do is accept it as an unfortunate part of modern society.

How do I make thumbnails bigger in file picker?
I use:
-Debian
-Cinnamon (Nemo file manager)
-Firefox
In a regular Nemo window I can change thumbnails size just fine if I am in icon view. But in file picker I cannot switch myself to icon view, it's always in list view. I tried to look for a solution but it seems it's impossible?

> The default GTK3 does not support this, and is a 21 year old bug:
>GTK4 supports it, but it's not been fully implemented across all things yet.
>For many programs that use the xdg-desktop-portal to choose the file picker, such as Firefox, you can try a GTK4 version of the file chooser, which will give you crappy non-customizable previews.. but at least it's better than the GTK3 version:
>>
Use Dolphin instead, it has dynamic thumbnails.
>>

>>
>>107002350
>Right click Open With File Manager
>browse by thumbnail
>drag into file picker

>>
>>107002350
Cinnamon's file picker (xdg-desktop-portal-xapp) is known for being trash, just like Gnome's. It can be a bit of a hassle, but if that really bothers you, the best option is to install another portal, like KDE's (xdg-desktop-portal-kde).

I just installed Mint on a fresh machine and noticed xdg-desktop-portal-xapp doesn't even follow Nemo's custom sorting method for each folder and it doesn't allow you to change the sorting method through the portal. It's so fucking ass. Literally the worst file picker in existence. Such a shame because I do like Cinnamon otherwise.

Frankly im quite happy having my OS and all important drivers on an isolated SSD while data and gaming are all on separate drives, keeps things simple and easy to fix if something goes wrong, i only lose 1 thing of import instead of 50+ other stuff i need aswell.

modern emissions regulations, specifically the wildly differing regulations for each country, plus the hype-trains for the latest vehicular gimmick-tech, has degraded the build quality and longevity of any car you buy by default.

My 2013 4cylinder Mitsubishi Lancer sedan, is naturally aspirated, and has a chain-link timing belt. It will outlast ANY car made in the last 5 years, by any manufacturer. Its over 10yo's now, and will last me another 10 with normal maintenance no problem at all.

Enclosures all the day.
An external SSD is a single entity, if it fails, it fails.
If the converter in the enclosure fails, your data is still fine.

do you fags realize SSD must be powered at least once per couple of years or it will start to lose data? External SSD means it will be stored somewhere and you will forget to use it

same thing happened to me Samsung Sata SSD, i booted the PC up after 8years of not using it and OS was so corrupted it did not booted
