Reddit trawling AI have made large enterprise companies recruit their own employees into "reddit task forces" to shill their brand on reddit
Not just to make redditors buy their product, but so that AI will pick up their brand and shill them on all AI search engines
What the actual fuck is wrong with AIfags?

What's the point of this? The chatbot isn't going to ever cite it's sources and start shilling your brand for you.

they do cite their sources have you never used one?
they just do a google search in the background and summarize the results
if you're on the first results page you get into the AI results automatically

It's also literally true that software is just 1s and 0s, or that humans are just genome replicators. Those reductionist descriptions don't let us answer important questions like what sort of work is software or humans or LLMs capable of performing.

I finished compiling the quantifiers for my parsing DSL, it was 100 times easier than for a regex engine.
Here quantifiers are compiled as normal loops and they require 2 local variables maximum, one for saving the current position at the beginning of the loop and one for the counter if needed. Failure of the quantified pattern means breaking out of the loop. After the loop exit the last saved position at loop entry is restored and if necessary a check is made to make sure the loop counter is >= the minmal iteration requried, if it's not it means failure. All failures are static jumps to either the next alternation if any, or to the end of the current function which will return false.
Now I need to implement calls to C functions, for creating ast nodes.

I haven't programmed much recently. Wanted to try out this new AI stuff. I downloaded Cursor and it was neat. I loved the auto complete. The other stuff didn't seem that useful (maybe for search and replace operations the agent stuff could be cool). However, I found out that you only get a limited number of autocompletes on the free version, which is obviously a bummer. Are there any decent local models I could use for autocomplete instead? What's the experience like with them? Googling told me that Qwen-4b could work.

PS VSCode itself is pretty neat. Definitely beats the memories I had from waiting on Visual Studio to do its thing.

Is there a community somewhere that allows people with academic credentials (who can get their papers sent to reputable journals) to collaborate with people who have access to the best AI models (and know how to prompt them)?
The best collaboration I've seen so far is the duo that worked on Erdos problem 728.
A third type of skill would be noticing what sorts of open questions are a good fit for an AI agent, although that could be crowdsourced.

I hate their philosophy that you should be able to easily and unintentionally undo options that you manually selected. For example, you can filter out photos from your photo roll that have been placed in albums leaving only “loose” or uncategorized photos. This makes it much easier to find and organize photos. However, if you scroll down too far it will remove this filter and it won’t reapply it if you scroll up. You have to manually reapply it. Drives me nuts. When setting a lock screen background you can unintentionally extend a photo which adds an ugly blurred section to the top. You can manually unextend it by unchecking a box, but if you zoom out again it will extend it again. There is no fit to screen option. So damn annoying.

I hate that the Titanium was discontinued.
I held one at work recently, and it's very comfortable to use as a tablet. It's very light.
It's a much better 2-in-1 than the 14" X1 Yoga (called 2-in-1 now), which I hate for how bulky/heavy it is.
>>
>>107818923
Its marketing couldn't decide if it was an ultra premium collectible item or a normal workhorse in a slightly different form-factor so it ended up neither and got sidelined by more familiar series.
It really would have been more successful either if it was a limited anniversary etc device from the start (and explained the price point) , or dropped the pretense that titanium composite display lid made it worth $3000 (that's three and three zeroes) for worse specs than its contemporary $1500 Yoga, Carbon or T series.
Many manufacturers were and still are experimenting with 3:2 displays, especially on tablet/convertible ultraportables, and with even a littel bit of marketing it could have taken over mainline X1 series, if Lenovo ever wanted to do it.

2898... ahh okay.
I'll order some and do the repair.
I don't know how to check the CPU/PCH, the laptop works fine connected to a monitor anyway.

Also the numpad issue, I think I might have figured it out.

The numpad CAN work on a T14 mobo, but only if the keyboard is manufactured by LiteOn.
The numpad doesn't work on a T14 mobo with a Chicony keyboard.
I tested a few keyboards and this is my conclusion. Weird...
FYI, T14 and T16 motherboards are identical, same exact part number.

I have a G1 AMD and it has no problems with dev work including multiple heavy IDEs and VMs at the same time. Can't say anything about video editing. Some models to be careful with are:
- G1 Intel: most of them have warmed-over Skylake quad-cores that you can get cheaper in older models
- G3-G4 AMD and G4 Intel: fully-soldered RAM

>stay away from Google products
I learned this lesson the hard way using a Pixel 3 XL and the accompanying Pixel Buds 2 that came with it. I also had a Pixelbook. None of it worked as intended, nothing ever worked right. Each and every hardware product I owned that had Google's logo on it was broken out of the box in at least 5 separate ways. Good designs - I still think Pixelbuds were the most comfortable wireless earbuds I ever wore - but nothing ever fucking worked. Lost a shitload of money on that.
>>
>>107806261
last time I used a pixel was 2018. couldn't ram management was overly aggressive and would close every app I looked away from for even a sdcond. if you opened another app while listening to music, the music would stop. it had a great camera but that didn't matter because if you opened the camera the phone would start bootlooping. god awful device.

Phones made out of glass are retarded, agreed
>Overheats and lags when charging, when playing videos the back gets hot, screen dims
Mine plays videos just fine, but all phones I've ever handled heat up if you use them while charging
>Feels like a phone from 2012 with its performance. Some of the worst performance I have seen on a smartphone in browsing load times and video playback
>Snapdragon even fucking mediatek budget chips are faster and better than googles shitty tensor unoptimized chip
Yes, it's a "flagship" phone but Google's chip is literally mid range tier or less in terms of performance - it's not a lack of optimization, it's their deliberate choice. Mine doesn't lag when browsing or playing video though, what the fuck. It should only be slow compared to other flagship phones if you're hammering its cpu & gpu.
When it breaks I'll probably just get a Pixel 12 or whatever
