Besides that nearly all consumer and even nas, surveilliance grade hard drives are smr trash (the ones that are described as "cmr" are hidden or hybrid smr), the only ones that are currently unaffected are server hdds which cost a lot more and run really hot.

On top of that chia mining and AI boom caused is causing shortages and inadequate pricing not to mention that many "new" drives are actually refurbished (with reseted smart) and heavily worn sold as new. What a fucking shitshot, I can't even believe that back then you could buy nearly any ordinary desktop drive and not worry about things like hidden smr or smart reset after heavy usage. Fuck this shitty timeline

Yes, I'm planning to make a guide to buying hard drives but in order to keep it short I'd recommend you to NOT buy any hard drive that has more than 1,67TB platter capacity.

Unfortunately I've wasted money on WD80EFPX and WD80EDAZ-11CEWB0 (which are the same drives based on HC320 but ruined by WD firmware and turned into smr trash despite being lsited as "cmr", both have severe speed penalties when under heavy loads, the speed is dropping to 40-50mb/s while my other true cmr drives slow down only by 20% max).

I decided to compensate it by buying a pair of HUS728T8TALE6L4, HUS722T2TALA604 (native 512 byte, no advanced format which is very good) and HDWQ140UZSVA (also native 512 byte sectors, I couldn't find any 4TB HGST for a reasonable price). The only drives that are somehow paradoxically CMR are WD20EARZ, WD20EFPX and WD23PURZ despite having 2TB per platter but 64mb cache, I tested them when they were 80% full and the speed didn't drop to even 40mb/s.

I use HA210 as a system drive and it boots and runs very fast.

>Why are americans unemployed?
Because of:
>Lack of investment in alternative pathways
>Immigrant labor influx
>Nepotism in hiring
>Short termism driving job instability
>Economic difficulties resulting in risk averse hiring
>An emphasis on low paying service jobs
>Politicization of the economy and workplace leading to indecisiveness
I'm set on moving either to czechia, poland, or taiwan. I'll have a better chance at getting a mechatronics job in those countries.

Good question!
If you speak German then maybe there is some demand...
German government advertise that they need an IT-qualified workforce etc but the economy is contracting so that might not be true.
Maybe I am wrong based on the mainstream media news about layoffs...

What about Sweden?

Vulkan Dynamic mode is basically OpenGL 5. You can just make a single pipeline pass and push everything through and let the driver sort 90% of it out.

Haven't had any issues with it yet, works just fine on my mac.
Only thing I'm missing on mac is compute shaders which seems like ANGLE metal backend also doesn't support yet.

I've noticed this weird modern trend with games but especially with programs, where if it stops receiving updates then people abandon it.
What causes this weird mindset of needing constant updates?

Cool.
But here, in the real world, there's actually a bunch of asshole running botnet campaigns, and actually probing your system for vulnerabilities.
>>
>>106869100
because things stop working
Freetube stopped working for weeks but now it's back because of an update
the days where old software just worked are long gone
>>
>>106869100
Others talk about things that break, but obviously there are old programs that still work perfectly 20 or 30 years later and they are also abandoned. I think that people want to believe that there is somebody on "the other side" that is their little slave and making their software work for them, and if it's clear that these "little people" are not there then the software feels dead to them.
>>
>>106870975
Because one day there will be something that randomly breaks, or new video codecs it can't handle, and you'll have to switch away from it anyways.

People say this as if it's unreasonable and not the fact people have bought AMD only to get burned by it.
>>
>>106874839
Nah, they are selling them at small margins which use to be the norm back nearly 20 years ago with discrete gaming market. Two rounds of price discoveries from crypto-mining and ML/AI stuff had changed the price paradigm forever.
>>
>>106875588
Discrete gayming GPUs are dying. AMD and Nvidia both have been executing their exit strategies. AMD is slowly moving away outright, while Nvidia is just using gayming GPU market as their dumping ground for shitty yields.
>>
>>106874022
AI data centers are grabbing everything they can get their hands on. It's crazy to think this bubble hasn't popped yet, but it's basically just Nvidia and other tech companies giving money to each other.

Also full of niggers, it's still France after all.
