I wouldn't say it was emulation, more they wanted to make an affordable desktop capable computer that can use modern Internet.
They got pretty close with the Pi5 I guess.

We should bring back NanoITX and PicoITX as standard form factors tho.

I may be late to the party on this but my alphoomer nephew just showed me a locked thread of the Scratch Director of Technology losing his cool at 10 year olds and and being moderated by his own moderation team due to his "impolite" remarks while arguing over TOS changes that trains AI on user projects and adds an AI assistant. I guess not all gen alphababies got oneshotted by LLMs. Where's his PR guy to tell him a grown man throwing redditisms like "ad hominem" and "false narrative" at users he acknowledges in the same thread are statistically 80% under the age of 12 comes across incredibly retarded and tactless?

yeah no shit lmao who do you think coined "clankers"
only ~38% of gen a use AI for fun regularly but ~70% are already exposed to it overall
if a kid is already learning to code before AI implementation they inherently have some drive that separates them from a slop addicted lobotomite who outsources all their critical thinking and effort to a machine
boomers being out of touch with the youth and making ridiculous miscalculations trying to cash in on trends is nothing new but it's nice to know the backlash actually does hurt their dinosaur feefees
as a zoomzoom in my mid 20s it's definitely older people jacking off AI far more often than younger people

Why can't we accept that IPv6 is a dumpster fire and leave it in the trash where it belongs

>Default firewall rule
Sure, but that solves the security argument for NAT. So functionally there is no loss.
>Nothing stops them [...] except IPV4 exhaustion
So a huge unsolvable technical issue with IPV4 stops them. I agree why I want IPV6
>IPV4 still works
Tying a note to a rock and throwing it at the recipient still works too. If something works is only one small metric to determine whether or not you should use it. IPV4 lost a lot of traits that provided real value to the consumer. IPV6 would bring those traits back. We only need to suffer moving over and then we get all the benefits.
>>
>>108510480
>If it blocks packet based on some logic
Sure but that was the firewall on the router not the nat itself. You'd get the same thing just by denying all incoming packets except the ones that you granted an explicit exception for. Hell you could just whitelist based on IP. NAT doesn't bring anything to the table except making forming connection more annoying.
>>
>>108502471
>you can't slap NATs to everything forever
You absolutely can
>>

>>108502471

With NAT you handicap your own hardware and introduce worse performance on your whole network. This alone should be enough to ditch it.
Even stateful firewalls are less CPU intensive than NAT.
You can't host services and applications via NAT.
Port forwarding/port mapping is not a solution. It is even more resource intensive as now your router has to also account for every port rule entry you set up in the config.

>>108510592
>functionally there is no loss.
See above.

>So a huge unsolvable technical issue
I mean, it can solve itself for the right price. If you are an ISP, you just have to find your target customers. IPv6 is still better though, it just solve the problem of scarcity along with many other technical issues.

>We only need to suffer moving over and then we get all the benefits.
True but it does not apply to anything. Legacy applications only supports IPv4, and transition mechanisms are still shit to this day.

It's like guns 30+ years ago. There's enough stuff on the used market that I'd just go buy a nikon or a canon from the 80s or 90s. There are a bunch of cameras with hipster tax on them, like how kar98ks and garands were over priced compared to thirdie country guns, but generally anything that's mostly electronic like those 90s SLRs are free from hispter tax because hipsters generally want

This sounds like it's a huge commitment for you. Nigga there is no single best browser + even if there would be "THE BEST BROWSER", you should never use only 1 browser.
>daily driver browser
>login accounts browser
>private browser
You need at least 2. Yes, Brave is ""probably"" the best chromium based browser at the moment, fits perfectly fine in the daily drive category, because many websites and services just assume you are running chrome. For something more private you should go with a gecko based browser like FireFox or Librewolf.

pretty much there just to let you handle SIGSEGVs from stack overflows.

What is a good mail provider nowadays?
Every single one asks for phone number, secondary e-mail address or does something retarded like you can't register to any online service without provided either of the two (Proton), some don't even use imap/pop and you can't use them with a client. It's hell.

>I don't expect any privacy (other than manually encrypting messages with pgp keys, but that's on the user's end) i just want something that doesn't ask for my phone or some alt e-mail address and can be used with an e-mail client compared to proton or tutanota who do their own thing that's incompatible with any e-mail client because they want to larp as private services.
Your only real options are joke emails like cock.li, pissmail and such.
>>
Depends on your use case, but Proton seems a pretty good setup overall; even better if you get a paid version (either your own domain or theirs etc).
>phone number, secondary email
these are optionss but I don't recall them being required. If you absolutely are worried about it, you can just use a Firefox Relay generated email mask as your backup, or if you're willing to chance it one of the tempmail/guerilla mail addresses for the backup. However, as I recall theere is an option for Proton to basically check the tiny out of the way box that says
>yes I realize that without the backup email or phone number if I lose my password etc..I realize I am truly fucked and Proton can't get it back for me this is not a drill it will be gone forever.
option. At first they just want to make sure you're not fucking things up and then crying about it after they warned you. Also, if you have a paid proton unlimited/pro account you get all the features of SimpleLogin mail masks and proxies too; its under ProtonPass features.

I'm looking for something that i might be able to use in a more professional context. While cock.li seems to have decent alt domains (no swear words), I would prefer that if somebody looks up my e-mail address to not get hit with sites about cocks and piss and things like that. Thanks for the suggestion.

>>108510997
I already have a Proton e-mail but as far as i heard you need to setup something like a bridge to be able to use it with your client. Another time waster. Also check this >>108510859. They wanted a secondary e-mail so they can allow me to see certain confirmation e-mails and that just pissed me the fuck off. Got me real mad. The Firefox Relay thing as a secondary address for signing up is a really interesting idea. Got to look it up. Thanks.
>>
>>108511070
>Bridge to use with a client
That's pretty much if you want full, E2EE including subjects like they use. You CAN simply turn on IMAP/POP3 on your account and export the OpenPGP keys, but like any other use that's just for the body. However, running the bridge in the background - a FOSS program : https://proton.me/mail/bridge - basically seamlessly sets this stuff up. If you plan to use Thunderbird, Outlook etc.. then its worthwhile and pretty easy with Proton using the Bridge, but you can also "manually" use the encryption keys if you want as mentioned though its not quite as smooth or cover as much as it were.

The secondary email can be gotten around as there's an option in your account (I don't recall if its the main global account page or the proton mail account options ) that you can turn that shit off but they basically don't want you to use the account to sign up to other shit and then complain if some day you lose access to your proton account and have no passwords, backups etc. Relay is a pretty solid if not as comprehensive as the ProtonPass/SimpleLogin featureset; by default you can use a handful of free email masks or an unlimited amount per site if you pay like $2/month. If you only need one to mask to your old email to give to proton, then you won't even need a paid one.
