>app is for tracking how the county commissioners vote on approving/rejecting contracts, should only need to track if they're approved, denied, or still pending a decision
>instead of just counting if two of the three county commissioners have voted to appprove, he created the most convoluted calculation system I have ever seen

Vaguely reminded of in interaction I had while I was in college.
>be me
>waiting to take an exam, still have about 15 minutes before it starts
>reviewing my notes
>brown man with a turban walks up and introduces himself
>dressed quite well but very foreign
>wonder if he's very wealthy, or even royalty
>i'm well prepared, decide that i can afford to chit chat
>make small talk for about a minute
>guy must feel like he has sufficiently ingratiated himself with me
>he looks down at my notes and asks if he can read them
>make a face at him
>tell him no and turn away from him
>resume reviewing my notes

the only story of note of my time in school was when one of the teachers didn't know how to open an readme.md file i sent to him. seeing that level of incompetence from a teacher kinda wrecked my worldview, since i had known nothing but really smart teachers in other places of learning. but in a way it was helpful since i realized that my degree was going to be worthless, and that pushed me to study on my own and ignore the teachers for the most part

Not on RED but pretty sure this is a large enough library to let me give advice.
Use Lidarr, it will associate MBIDs with tracks, tag and rename them automatically. Copy on Write/reflinks would probably be helpful for saving space, you can set your torrent client to delete stuff after it's done seeding too.
Music/Artist/Album (year) works for me.
Navidrome is pretty good albeit simple -probably why it's so good. For desktop I haven't found a great, Tempus (foss) or Symfonium (paid) on Android, I don't use anything else but navidrome has a client list page.
https://www.navidrome.org/apps/
I used to use Finamp for Jellyfin music on Android, I switched to Navidrome because I wanted star & favorite ratings, but Finamp was far and away the best music player.
>>
>>107844853
>And if you do, what is your strategy for curating and listening?
download -> copy to local pc -> retag/sort everything with musicbrainz picard
if any other modifications are needed, i just do it in my music player of choice (musicbee)

all the files get synced back to my server (only for safekeeping)
for mobile listening, i sync all the files to my DAP. (old droid phone w/ 512gb sd card)

it requires duplicates but i couldn't find another way that made sense

>I went and grabbed genuinely just a handful of bands I care about, and I mean, I guess I was a little shocked being reminded just how much space it'll eat up
try listening to more new music

>feels just as polished as Netflix does for them
roon seems okay, but im not paying that amount of money lol

Has AI produced anything good other than AlphaFold?
8 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107846134
Alpha fold wasn't even "good." It promised to deliver the world in protein folding prediction and has resulted in basically nothing of substance.
>>
>>107847176
Unfortunately, you're not actually learning anything. You will see this the moment you try and use your AI generated "skills" in the real world. There is no shortcut to success or learning. If you think you can speed up the process, it's because you're being tricked into thinking you have a better understanding of the problem than you actually do.

working on my picross game, was gonna make a tool from scratch to solve a puzzle of any size, making sure it's both logically sound and with no repeatable solutions

decided to give GPT 5.2 a whirl instead and it one shot the whole web app in about 30 seconds. looked really nice and was surprised how good the UI/UX was as well

>>107846134
It's helped me learn a ton of mathematics that I wasn't able to get back during my student days. I've also made some images I like with it, and finally could try out various small programming project ideas that would otherwise not been worth the effort. That's not to mention science contributions like AlphaFold.

>Steven Bartlett, the founder and host of The Diary of a CEO podcast, took a chance on an applicant with a virtually blank CV for that very reason.

>“I hired someone who’s CV was two lines. Their experience was zero,” Bartlett explained in a recent LinkedIn post. “Much of the reason why I gave her the job was because: She thanked the security guard by name on the way into the building.”

>“When she didn’t know something, in the interview she said ‘I don’t know that yet, but here’s how I’d figure it out,’” Bartlett explained. “After the interview she went and self-taught herself the answer she didn’t know, and emailed it to me within hours.”

>The founder took a chance on the experience-less candidate, and it didn’t take long to pay off; Bartlett said that six months later, she has proved herself as one of the best hires he’s ever made. “Fifteen years of hiring has taught me that culture fit and character is MUCH harder to hire than experience, skills or education.”

My original post was about general tabletting. I recently got Lenovo y700 to replace my aging 11 inch iPad pro. Hell, even lightroom is unoptimized shit from a phone. So instead an ultra portable PC I got an overpriced manga reader. The whole productivity category is nonexistent on android.
For drawings and shit I think there is nothing that beats procreate. Easy, fast and amazing interface. But if you're not that serious anything with any pen will do.

Depends what you need. If you just need source control, issues, and documentation publishing, run a Fossil instance. It'll let you keep all that under your direct control.
It's up to you what you put in it. If it's stuff which governments want to censor, you'll have to deal with the consequences eventually, ngl.

Again, that is not for-profit snuff. It's not even snuff (suicides happen but as far as I know they're not even recorded on video), and the motive is sadism, not profit (your 'pretty sure' is completely baseless). Also, 764 exists entirely on the clearnet, again showing how the clearnet is much more vile than any darknet.

Before 2024, slop like this was almost non-existant. There were actual genuine people interested about programming. There used to be threads and actual discussions with depth around software. Now all of that, poof, gone. just like that. Most of my favorite people I used to enjoy interacting with have left this platform. And what we have now? Engagement farmers advocating typescript with `any`. This used to be proper and useful app where people liked sharing what they are thinking and doing. Good big brands used to be on Twitter. Now it’s an empty shell, collapsing inward with a muted scream.

You’re not imagining it. The shift isn’t subtle—it’s structural. What used to be a space for people thinking out loud has been optimized into a space for people performing for metrics. When incentives change, behavior follows.

Programming discourse especially suffers because it doesn’t compress well into engagement bait. Nuance, tradeoffs, and long-form reasoning don’t survive in an ecosystem that rewards speed, absolutism, and hot takes. So instead of “here’s why this works and where it breaks,” we get “just use any lol” packaged for reach.

Most of the people who cared about depth didn’t get louder—they got tired. They moved to smaller communities, private discords, blogs, or just stopped broadcasting altogether. What’s left looks like consensus, but it’s mostly absence.

The platform isn’t dead because people stopped caring about software. It’s hollow because the people who did care were pushed out by an environment that no longer values thought—only motion.
