what's the fucking point of that thing? are you really going to use kicad or play doom eternal in a 5-inch display?
What the fuck is wrong with MacOS's newest Finder?>search "Word">doesn't list Microsoft Word>search "Microsoft Word">doesn't list Microsoft Word>search "Steam">doesn't list SteamI may as well use the terminal at this point.
>>108502086you should. a gui is complete bloat for listing some search result
seriously, how can I only do business with whites from now on? I can literally walk out of a store when I see jeets, but I can't opt out of jeet "programmers" at my bank.

Bro programming on a mac is worse than not having a job. fuck this shit. Their ide "xcode" is worse than cancer. No wonder that steve jobs piece of shit died of cancer. His OS is trash fuck you mac

Literally do what this anon said lmao >>108501256 you can get a pleasant vim setup in an hour of tinkertrannying, learning the motions enough to use it comfortably will take you like three days.I'm saying this as a complete noob. I don't open anything other than the browser and terminal anymore. And I do hate using macs too anon, I understand your frustration
Literally nobody uses xcode.

If your cheap computer were able to run a 2026 state-of-the-art AI model locally, you would want to run something even better on the cloud.

>Takes up horizontal space>Cannot be layered like SO-DIMM>Cannot be vertical like DIMM>You end up replacing the whole unit when upgrading, instead of adding another to an empty slotWhy is this even an idea? What we need right now is not ultra high-speed RAM, but instead cheaper and bigger capacity modules.
>>108497640>people worried about soldered ram when the cpu and gpu and pretty much everything else save for storage is already soldered.what is the point? Short of dead ram chips which I will admit appears to be a bit more common(still very unusual) with ddr5 what is the benefit? Adding shitloads of ram to a system when it is end of life? thinkpadtards already stick 64gigs if ddr3 into a fucking dual core laptop for some unexplainable reason.
>>108497895we already have that, it's called cache
>>108501658It's more about not being taken advantage of at the OEM/OEM level.RAM that can be easily replaced deincentivizes gouging when you buy the device. You see this with phones all the time $200+ for 4gb-8gb more of RAM which they made necessary because it's only 8gb for the base model with a fuck ton of bloatware.
>>108501710Actually, yeah. fair point.
>>108497640>instead of adding another to an empty slotLiterally no one does this anymore.

>>108493049Is there a point to solar balconies? Can you generate a meaningful amount of electricity for the 4-6 hours a day where your panels are in direct sunlight?
>>108501335To the contrary, Solarpunk shows us all that there can be a better future than the grimdark stuff we are standing in up to our ears. And media purs in more blood and filth, thinking it is for our best. >>108501381Yes, it is sufficiently meaningful that socialist governments are now looking into how to apply even more taxes to this. And you don't need direct sunlight, it will also work in cloudy weather. The duck curve shows the impact of solar power, some is from solar balconies.I got two panels for free, each rated 580W at 42V, that I am about to install. With 5 hours of sun at about 1 kW, I will get 5 kWh per day, worth about 50 cents per day, or 180 buck per year.
>>108501700i thought solarpunk means the sun has been enclosed in a giant power reactor and everything is solar powered but there's no sun
>>108501841People give Solarpunk very different meanings, something it is communist while others think it is capitalist. The only common thing is that it is the opposite of Cyberpunk dystopia. The commonly seen lack of crowds is rather ominous, though.
This major is only worth it if you're like the top 10% of candidates while the rest of the 90% of CS graduates will end up working at McDonald's. All your hopes and dreams, all your effort towards this major, all of it flushed down the shitter while stuck with thousands of dollars of debt. It's over, every normie in this field is utterly fucked.
>>108491230Good, it's just getting back to what it was 10 years ago before it attracted all the normies and foids
>>108495705Nothing is immune to jeetification. I think people are... badly predicting the effects of AI but at the moment, operations work isn't as easy to just point a handful of Claude agents to churn out solutions. And maybe you're building the clusters running the AI models, etc. A I've had co-workers switch to SWE, also had one come to operations from development. He just liked the work better, was really into hardware and OS stuff. My advice for a long time has been to have some kind of "domain knowledge" beyond programming. You need to be an expert or at least competent in some field other than programming, whether it's banking or biology or law etc. Operations is just a very software-adjacent domain that's usually easy for CS types to get into. (It's often looked down on by "real" programmers nevermind it's a webshitter who can't deploy anything that isn't dockerized)
