yes, C code gets compiled by C compiler
anything else?
>>
>>107821156

It runs on a PDP-11 emulator.

It's not correct code for modern C compilers and if it does compiles it would likely produce incorrect output.

Is it worth to get into coding in 2026?
I have zero experience with coding, and have no idea where to start nor what language to pick.

>I don't want to scare you off
You didn't, that's why i asked at the start of making this thread ''is it worth in 2026'' because i already made in my mind that getting a job as a noob programmer would be a hard task or maybe even unreal in the upcoming future.
But i still want to try, and at least do it as a hobby for myself. And who knows, maybe i will be able to do some basic games, and open my own meme website ;))
>but I think it's best to be honest with people about the options
I prefer when people are honest, even if its about to get hopeless n grim.
Thank you very much for that.

Professional software developer of 10+ years here.
It was extremely competitive 10 years ago. I can hardly imagine how competitive it is now, especially for new graduates.
In terms of learning to program starting from scratch as an adult that is NOT in school... it's impossible.
You can probably pick it up and learn some of the basics of programming. But 99.9% of you will drop it after a week or two. You need to be in school to keep yourself in check.
Even if you continue, you'll never really understand the deeper parts of programming unless you're working in a real professional job. A job that will never hire without degree, considering how competitive it is now. HR won't even see your resume, it gets auto-filtered out without at least a degree.
It's the same people that say "my dream is to make a game". They'll install Unity/UE, play around and learn it for a week or two max, then get bored and drop it forever.
>>
>>107821113
To add on, I can sympathize.
I've always wanted to learn animation and storywriting as a hobby. I've tried to get into it and learn starting from zero, but it's overwhelming and I gave up. I will never be anywhere good and will never know anywhere close as the literal professional animator or storywriters in the actual industry.
I guess at least I know programming very well.

Windows laptops will still be cheaper because enterprises buy in bulk.
>>
>>107819805
The only reason they buy microslop kit in bulk right now is because they're still quietly shitting out Surface Go tablets at rock bottom prices to compete against chromebooks. They look good enough but they're hilariously underspecced to do even the most basic stuff in Win11 (1.2ghz pentium gold and 4gb of ram ffs) and workforces are losing patience with them.
Apple already have the infrastructure in place to enter this market thanks to decades in education. And giving workers a shiny new company macbook, even if it's a macbook running an iphone chip, will go a long way to make the workforce feel valued. Even microslop employees prefer working on macbooks these days.

the problem with LLMs is their lack of world models
specifically an LLM doesn't automatically know the stars are not visible from a windowless basement
chain-of-thought reasoning exists as an improvised fix for a fundamental problem

It's also literally true that software is just 1s and 0s, or that humans are just genome replicators. Those reductionist descriptions don't let us answer important questions like what sort of work is software or humans or LLMs capable of performing.

what do you use it for? or is it just one of those things where people use it for a week and then forget about it forever?

Is there a community somewhere that allows people with academic credentials (who can get their papers sent to reputable journals) to collaborate with people who have access to the best AI models (and know how to prompt them)?
The best collaboration I've seen so far is the duo that worked on Erdos problem 728.
A third type of skill would be noticing what sorts of open questions are a good fit for an AI agent, although that could be crowdsourced.

>stay away from Google products
I learned this lesson the hard way using a Pixel 3 XL and the accompanying Pixel Buds 2 that came with it. I also had a Pixelbook. None of it worked as intended, nothing ever worked right. Each and every hardware product I owned that had Google's logo on it was broken out of the box in at least 5 separate ways. Good designs - I still think Pixelbuds were the most comfortable wireless earbuds I ever wore - but nothing ever fucking worked. Lost a shitload of money on that.
>>
>>107806261
last time I used a pixel was 2018. couldn't ram management was overly aggressive and would close every app I looked away from for even a sdcond. if you opened another app while listening to music, the music would stop. it had a great camera but that didn't matter because if you opened the camera the phone would start bootlooping. god awful device.
>>

Phones made out of glass are retarded, agreed
>Overheats and lags when charging, when playing videos the back gets hot, screen dims
Mine plays videos just fine, but all phones I've ever handled heat up if you use them while charging
>Feels like a phone from 2012 with its performance. Some of the worst performance I have seen on a smartphone in browsing load times and video playback
>Snapdragon even fucking mediatek budget chips are faster and better than googles shitty tensor unoptimized chip
Yes, it's a "flagship" phone but Google's chip is literally mid range tier or less in terms of performance - it's not a lack of optimization, it's their deliberate choice. Mine doesn't lag when browsing or playing video though, what the fuck. It should only be slow compared to other flagship phones if you're hammering its cpu & gpu.
When it breaks I'll probably just get a Pixel 12 or whatever
