You time-travel back to 1984. What do you tell people about the state of computing in the future?

And you will fail.
I think more people should have tried harder back in the day, but realistically it's inevitable to reach it , the *best* you can hope for is to push it back a decade or two.
The problem exists outside of the scope of the internet, it's at the human layer and you're not going to be able to easily absent that. It's only time before someone thinks: I can make money orfa that....

>>107991074
So, not an internet, an intranet.
Fuck off back to /pol where such lack of thought belongs.
>>
>>107987153
>What do you tell people
You don't.
You show them.
You're only going back to 1984. You pull a phone out of your pocket you're not going to be burned for witchcraft....
Use that to demonstrate the pace of advance, then use it to demonstrate how little control the hand computer affords the user compared to a laptop.
Make sure they are very aware it's the average everyday joe on the street accepting it that made it possible.

Serious thread, no OS wars please.

I'll put the TL;DR up here: I've had it with windows 11

Long version:
>I'm a general 3D artist, I work with Blender, Photoshop, and Substance Painter
>I'm a professional so I need my programs (and my computer in general) to work right. I dont mind setups, but once it's set up I cannot accept further "tinkering", shit needs to function like THAT when I turn it on and sit down to work
>am willing to switch from Photoshop to Krita, but Substance Painter is non-negotiable
>going back to previous Windows versions is not something I'm willing to do, I need things to be relatively up to date

what's my distro and why

just get two machines one for work one for private, have done this for years and honestly its been the best for my mental health too
>>
>>107994187
Unironically just get a Mac. If you're a professional, having a separate computer from your personal one just for work purposes will benefit you far more than trying to mess with Linux for everything, especially in the long run. You don't sound like a poorfag either, so you should be able to get something that works for (You).
You can fuck around with whatever distro appeals to you the most in your own PC that way too.
>>
>>107994394
>Other distributions are going to take more tinkering to get it working how you like it
I don't have a problem with that, I thought I made that pretty clear.
If it takes a week to set it up I'm fine with it. I'll take a week to do it.
I'm saying AFTER the setup it needs to work perfectly fine forever
>>
>>107994187
hey OP i run Void which is one of the more autistc distros available and here's my advice: if your computer can run Windows 10, head over to the friendly windows thread and get Windows 10 LTSC. It is the closest thing to a painless solution to the Windows 11 thing
>>
>>107994187
Blender and substance are supported in linux, photoshop has recently gotten some patch that lets it work apparently but I can't speak on that with much authority since I haven't tried it.

Tiktok isnt an official government policy. Even if this current one is censorship of epstein, its irrelevant to the topic of mass censorship from the government as an actual policy with enforcement of arrests, jail time, and imprisonment

They only make stuff like this "illegal" so that they can fine companies from other countries because europe cant into AI

they also promote it as a functional system even if no real use case can be found yet and reduce the wages.
>>
Yes it's the only politically correct way to fire women and useless people doing nothing all day
>>
The overhiring happened 3+ years ago. They've laid off hundreds of thousands of people. This argument is just old and tired. They saw AI go from useless dogshit to "good enough" in like 6 months and they decided to just stop pretending.
>>
>>107994305
Partially true, but they also have to lay people off to please investors so they think the company is forward thinking or whatever. A lot of these companies, like microsoft, have had their code go from shit to absolute trashfire, but they can't admit defeat and hire the people they need again because that would show a lack of faith in ai and hurt their stock price.

Other forms of piracy are fairly shitty because they tend to be ephemeral. The only thing that's more relevant than torrents at time is ripping music from streaming services. But you still can only get specific versions of albums that way. Anything that was removed from streaming services or never on them in the first place can't be obtained from them.

Imagine, you are at home and you hear some alarm going off outside.
Wouldnt be amazing if you could just sit in front of your computer and remotely control a drone already set up?
Push a button, a small door or window opens in your house and the drone goes out, you fly it around and check things out sitting at your desk.
When you are done you fly it back in and it recharges the battery automatically with some connector on the drone's feet or something.
>>
Or just have cameras installed already where the alarms are with motion detection
>>
>>107994759
This is already a thing and it's way more expensive than just having cameras set up. If you're a large corporate campus it makes more sense though but it never makes sense for residential or single building businesses.
>>
>>107994781
Is not just that, if something goes off outside, or the neighbour's alarm sounds, or if you just want to check stuff out.
Is kind of cool and convenient to be able to fly something with a camera out of your house while sitting in your desk.
>>
>>107994789
If it could be made cheaper people would buy it for sure.
>>
>>107994759
I'm adding that image to my YLYL collection, cheers.

But to entertain this notion seriously, already criminals are jamming wireless camera. Anything off the shelf is going to fall at that hurdle, unless you go fibreoptic like them done over in ukraine, then you'll have a lot more propblems.

Good ANC headphones? Budget is 300 dollars or less, my favorite headphones I've used are sony MDR-V6 headphones.
I don't know much about "sound stage" or "frequency profile" stuff honestly. I'm not an audiophile but I do hear a difference between FLAC and MP3 files when the volume is turned up.

wat? Unless you mean wired via usb-c or something. Using any bluetooth headphone via analog(so no DSP) will make it sound like shit.

its a new style called Glazing, it's when you suck someones dick and they jizz in your hair.
when the jizz dries off, it bleaches your hair, giving it the style of it being glazed with grey hairs.

its two birds with one stone because the dried up semen keeps it in place, similar to hair spray or pomade.
