honestly just slightly different SKUs of xbo controllers vary wildly in quality. I bought two, both used but intended for padhacking so I took both apart eventually -- one had a normal cross D-Pad which was dogshit, silicone domes, and the sticks were rubbish. then i got an "elite" one later and the dpad is a roundrel with metal bubble switches, the sticks were a different model, and the general build quality was a lot higher on the shell and how the boards were constructed. even between them, the basic shitty xbo controller is one board with standoffs/spacers where the housing demands it, the xb elite controller had daughter boards. crazy stuff for what looks nad feels pretty similar on the outside.

I occasionally use regular Opera because of its built-in vpn, when I'm too lazy to log into Proton. The Russians already know what I jerk off to because of Yandex, might as well give the Chinese a taste as well. Should I switch from regular to GX? I don't really have a use case for it, Firefox works fine enough as a background browser when playing vidya. The whole gaming browser thing seems like a colossal meme.

>leftist
I don’t think you know what that means
>cultural shift towards self-entitlement, cynicism, and relative morality
This I won’t dispute. Social media distorted a lot of people’s perspectives of what they should be doing in life and what they deserve, as well as the rise of the influencers. In general the US is less trusting than it was in the 1990s and a rapid decline of trust since then (Bowling Alone in America is a great book tracking this topic). Your relative morality issues mostly stem from the rise of MAGA ironically enough, which in turn built off of the Tea Party’s hot rhetoric centered around how correct their viewpoints were. The Obama years also saw the Democrats get a bit too smug and push their own moral relativism, but it was never truly weaponized so effectively until Trump got the MAGA train rolling. Hate or love him, the main has fully harnessed it and is leaving both Democrats and Republicans scrambling to replicate his success. The man changed the game in much the same way Cheney changed how to use executive orders and Reagan introduced the press secretary. That also means that Trump has expanded moral relativism as part of the playbook for future presidents in a very aggressive way, so take that how you will. Either way, the big man (for you) is paving some new roads.

NTA but C++ is for old people. Python is the future. It doesn't have a complication process. It has a garbage collector. Python is for Machine Learning. C++ is for Cognitive Atrophy. Yes, C++ is faster. But if a program computes faster, it makes more errors. Python is slower, that's why it makes fewer errors

When It comes to colorschemes in general, there's usually some mathematical reason, some raitio or whatever, that's being used to come up with a set number of colors. With syntax, the utility of any highlighting is dependent on what the highlighter can understand and highlight in the code. Things that should appear different should appear different. You may have arbitrary text in the colorscheme be the normal foreground color, but something like a string should be a variation of the foreground color, italic, or underlined, etc.
The highlighter provided for zsh with the F-Sy-H plugin distinguishes between builtin commands, precommands, aliases, global aliases, suffix aliases, single quoted strings, double quoted strings, basically every zsh syntax object, including a secondary colorscheme for subshells. Explicitly setting these to different colors in a custom theme file is very useful to distinguish between various commands.

In 8 years, OpenAI will use 50% of the US's total electricity generate.

This isn't factoring the amount of GPUs they'd be purchasing, nor the fresh clean water they'd need to cool the GPUs powering their data centers.

USA's electricity generation has stagnated for the past 30 years despite a rise in population.

How much do you imagine your electricity bill to be by 2033?

I've had trivial computer parts die like hard drives or laptop LCD screens, and I'd swap it from a donor disposed machine just to keep it working. When I told my coworkers this, their response was almost like I had told them that I skin cats alive in my free time. Apparently the expectation is that we call Dell support and have an on-site tech do it. If it's not under warranty, just trash it.

But also I have no control over ordering, so HQ will send me like 30 new monitors to replace those that are out of warranty but completely FINE, when my district has 5-year-old computers that I have to keep upgrading with donor SSDs because whatever retard ordered them had spec'd them with HDDs.
